GPD Box mini PC launches with MCIO eGPU port

    Key Takeaway

    – GPD Box mini PC available on Indiegogo, starting at $1,452 for Intel Core Ultra 7 356H with MCIO 8i eGPU port (512Gbps bandwidth)
    – Second config has Core Ultra X7 358H with Intel Arc B390 iGPU but no MCIO 8i port (starts at $1,534)
    – Both have 160W GaN power supply, 15-80W TDP, dual M.2 slots (one PCIe Gen 5 x4), and up to 64GB LPDDR5X RAM
    – MCIO 8i port offers near-native desktop eGPU performance, far exceeding OCuLink 4.0 (64Gbps)
    – GPD G2 eGPU dock bundle with MCIO port available from $1,837

    Pricing and Specifications

GPD has made the Box mini PC available to purchase through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo. Backers can get this Intel Panther Lake system at a discounted price, and the starting price is $1,452. That starting price is for the configuration with the Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, which doesn’t have the Arc B390 iGPU. Instead, it features the less capable 4-core Xe3 iGPU, but this config features the OCuLink-beating MCIO 8i eGPU port.

    MCIO 8i Port Advantages

For reference, the MCIO 8i port is based on PCIe Gen 5 x8, and it promises 512Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth. The OCuLink 4.0 port that’s found on most mini PCs is rated for 64Gbps. This jump means that with a capable eGPU setup, it’s possible to get near-native desktop performance through this port. This is a significant uplift for users who need external graphics power.

    Alternative Configuration Details

There’s another configuration of the GPD Box available, and it comes with the Core Ultra X7 358H. It has the more capable Intel Arc B390 iGPU but misses out on the MCIO 8i port. Beyond these, the other aspects of the two configurations are the same. Both come with a built-in 160W GaN power supply, and they can be adjusted from anywhere between 15W and 80W TDP.

    Storage and Memory Options

GPD further highlights that this Intel Panther Lake mini PC has dual M.2 slots, and one of them can hold a PCIe Gen 5 x4 SSD (2TB Samsung SSD 9100 Pro curr. $423.91 on Amazon). There’s also a rich set of connectivity ports for easy expansion, including:

    • Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports
    • USB4 Type-C
    • HDMI 2.1
    • Dual 2.5GbE LAN
    • Multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports
    • 3.5mm audio jack

    Pricing Tiers and Bundles

The company is offering the mini PC with up to 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and on Indiegogo, it’s possible to purchase the Core Ultra 7 356H config bundled with the GPD G2 eGPU dock, which also features the MCIO port. This bundle starts at $1,837, while the config with the Core Ultra X7 358H starts at $1,534. GPD on Indiegogo provides these early bird options for backers.

  • Acer 16″ Gaming Laptop 165Hz OLED, 2x Longer Battery Life

Acer 16″ Gaming Laptop 165Hz OLED, 2x Longer Battery Life

    Key Takeaway

    – Acer now sells Panther Lake (Core Ultra 9 386H) versions of the Predator Helios Neo 16S.
    – Panther Lake models cost significantly more but offer weaker CPU performance than Arrow Lake HX counterparts.
    – At the same price (€2,799), the Panther Lake variant includes a slower GPU (RTX 5060 vs. RTX 5070 Ti) and less storage (1 TB vs. 2 TB).
    – Panther Lake laptops are claimed to deliver over twice the battery life (up to 15 hours) from the same 76 Wh battery.
    – Availability is currently limited to Acer France, but wider global release is expected soon.

Helios Neo 16S Gets a Confusing Update

The Predator Helios Neo 16S has had something of a topsy-turvy ride in the last few months. To recap, Acer unveiled Intel Panther Lake-powered versions in January during CES 2026. Then in March, the company presented alternatives featuring Intel’s Arrow Lake-HX Plus generation.

    A Overview of New Configurations

In the intervening period, we reviewed the Helios Neo 16S with the Core Ultra 9 275HX and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (curr. $1,929 on Amazon). Now, Acer has started selling Panther Lake-powered alternatives with the Core Ultra 9 386H. For the time being, we can only find listings on Acer’s French website; the laptop is listed as being out of stock in the UK. However, we would expect Panther Lake versions to reach other parts of the world soon.

    Pricing and Specification Comparison

In the meantime, Acer France indicates that these Panther Lake versions will cost significantly more than their Arrow Lake HX counterparts. At the time of writing, the Predator Helios Neo 16S retails for €2,799 with a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 32 GB of RAM, a 2 TB SSD and a 240 Hz IPS display. By contrast, Acer charges the same amount for a Panther Lake variant with the slower GeForce RTX 5060, half as much storage and a 165 Hz OLED.

Meanwhile, the Predator Helios Neo 16S costs €2,899 with the Core Ultra 9 386H, 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, a 165 Hz OLED display and the GeForce RTX 5070 with 8 GB of RAM running at up to 115 W. According to our benchmarks, these Panther Lake variants also fail to match the CPU performance of their Arrow Lake HX counterparts.

    Battery Life and Efficiency Claims

They should run far more efficiently though, which Acer’s official battery life estimates reinforce. Specifically, the company claims its new Panther Lake-based gaming laptop lasts over twice as long from the same 76 Wh battery. Whether the PHN16S-I51 variant achieves up to 15 hours of battery life under light use remains to be seen, though.

Consequently, the Dell XPS 13 with model number DX13260—which has not yet been officially unveiled—can be seen in advance in official press images, and a list of specs and some US prices are also available.

    Pricing and Core Specifications

According to reports, the new XPS notebook with a 13.4-inch touchscreen will be available in the US starting at $599 for students, with a regular starting price of $699. However, this price only includes the Wildcat Lake configuration with an Intel Core 5 320 (16 TOPS NPU performance) and 8 GB of RAM. Thunderbolt 4 is reserved for the higher-priced SKUs, such as those with an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 (49 TOPS NPU performance) from the Panther Lake family. – Pricing starts at ~$2,400 for Intel and ~$2,200 for AMD, with configs up to 64 GB RAM and 2 TB PCIe Gen 5 storage.

    Dell Launches New Workstation Lineup

Dell has just started selling the Pro Precision 5 Series 14 globally. As we have covered separately, the new 14-inch laptop combines Intel’s Panther Lake platform with LPCAMM2 and Ubuntu Linux support out of the box. This makes it a attractive option for developers and enterprise users who want a unix-like enviroment without tinkering.

    Weight and Portability Concerns

However, the Pro Precision 5 Series 14 is comparatively heavy for a 14-inch laptop at over 1.8 kg. For context, gaming laptops like the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 and Razer Blade 14 (2025) weigh less than the Pro Precision 5 Series 14, as does Apple’s MacBook Pro 14 that we reviewed at the end of 2025 (curr. $1,499 on Amazon). For those after a more lightweight alternative, Dell is now selling the Pro Precision 5 Series 14S too.

    Lightweight 14S Models Detailed

To recap, Dell claimed that the Pro Precision 5 Series 14S is its ‘thinnest and lightest’ mobile workstation when unveiling the laptop in March 2026. Practically speaking, the Pro Precision 5 Series 14S starts at 1.4 kg with AMD Ryzen AI 400 processors and is 10.8~19.1 mm thick. While Intel Panther Lake alternatives are just as thick, they start at 200 g heavier than their AMD counterparts.

    Ports and Display Options

The pair share the same ports though, albeit Thunderbolt 4 for Intel models and USB4 for AMD models. All variants can be configured with up to a 120 Hz, 500-nit and QHD+ IPS display too. Although an OLED alternative is available, it is an FHD+ panel with a 60 Hz refresh rate and 300 nits peak brightness. Setting that aside, the Pro Precision 5 Series 14S can also be configured with 57 Wh or 70 Wh batteries, including dedicated Long Lifecycle variants.

    Intel Configuration Pricing and specs

The Pro Precision 5 Series 14 starts at around $2,400/£1,700/€1,945 with a Core Ultra 5 336H vPro, 16 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM, a 256 GB SSD and an FHD+ display with 45% NTSC colour space coverage. Intel variants can be configued with up to 64 GB LPCAMM2 RAM, 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage and a Core Ultra X9 388H vPro featuring Arc B390 graphics. The base model is for light tasks only.

    AMD Variants and Pricing

Meanwhile, AMD variants start at just over $2,200/£1,600/€1,800 with soldered LPDDR5X RAM, 256 GB of storage, the same display and a Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435 processor. Configuration options go up to the Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470, 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of PCIe Gen 5 storage for AMD models. Please see Dell’s website for more information. The memory cannot be upgraded after purchase due to it being solderd!

    • Intel base: Core Ultra 5 336H vPro, 16 GB LPCAMM2, 256 GB SSD, FHD+ display
    • Intel max: Core Ultra X9 388H vPro, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB PCIe Gen 5

    Key Takeaway

    – Dell Pro 7 Series 13 2-in-1 available with Intel Panther Lake or AMD Ryzen AI 400 processors.
    – AMD models are significantly cheaper than Intel variants, even as pre-configured units.
    – Starting AMD config (Ryzen AI 5 Pro 435, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 1200p touch) starts at $2,421 in US.
    – Configurable up to Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470, 64GB RAM, 2TB PCIe Gen 5, 5G, and Wi-Fi 7.
    – Display limited to 500-nit IPS with 100% sRGB; no OLED option available.

Dell has just released the Pro 7 Series 13 as a 2-in-1 powered by Intel Panther Lake processors. At the same time, the company is offering the same laptop with AMD’s latest Ryzen AI 400 processors as a smaller alternative to older AMD 2-in-1s like the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 we reviewed in July 2026.

    Pricing and Configuration Differences

Surprisingly, these Pro 7 Series 13 2-in-1 AMD options are much cheaper than their Intel counterparts. For context, Dell charges £2,914, $2,989 and €3,277 for pre-configured Intel variants.
