Philips has introduced a new gaming monitor to its European market, boasting some notable specifications. The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L features a Quantum Dot OLED (QD-OLED) panel and achieves a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, along with a 144 Hz refresh rate.

Comparison to Previous Model

The Evnia 49M2C8900L shares several characteristics with the earlier Evnia 49M2C8900 model. Interestingly, the new monitor is a more budget-friendly option compared to its predecessor, which is currently priced at $1,499. This new version has a 49-inch screen with an 1800R curvature and incorporates a Gen 2 Samsung Display QD-OLED panel. However, it comes with a lower display refresh rate of 144 Hz, compared to the 240 Hz refresh rate of the Evnia 49M2C8900.

Detailed Specifications

The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L offers a display resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels (5K2K), a 32:9 aspect ratio, and a GtG response time of 0.3 ms. The monitor covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 125.2% of the AdobeRGB color space. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC to minimize image tearing. While the monitor’s peak brightness is 1,000 nits, it reduces to 450 nits or 250 nits in SDR mode.

Connectivity and Audio Features

The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L is equipped with four 7.5 W speakers in a 2.2 channel setup and includes a 3.5 mm audio jack. Additionally, it features DisplayPort 1.4 (x1), HDMI 2.1 (x2), USB-A (x4), and a USB-C port with 90W Power Delivery/ DisplayPort Alt Mode. The USB-A ports support a maximum speed of 5 Gbps.

Pricing & Availability

The new Philips Evnia 49M2C8900L gaming monitor is priced more affordably than its predecessor. It is available in the UK for £869.99 ($1,103) and in the Eurozone for €1,089 ($1,184). This makes the new monitor up to $400 cheaper than the Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 and more competitively priced compared to other monitors using the same Samsung QD-OLED panel. Pricing for the U.S. market has yet to be announced.
