Xiaomi introduced HyperOS towards the end of October, a new software branding initiative akin to Huawei's HarmonyOS that spans across its product lineup. The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro stand as the initial smartphones to come equipped with this fresh software iteration. Since its official reveal, Xiaomi has been progressively deploying HyperOS updates to eligible devices on a global scale.
HyperOS Update Rollout
Recently, the company initiated the rollout of this innovative software to two Leica-branded phones and an additional handset, broadening the reach of HyperOS across the Xiaomi ecosystem.
HyperOS Update for Xiaomi 12S Series
The Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro, alongside the Xiaomi 12, are the latest additions to receive the stable HyperOS update. This over-the-air (OTA) software update is currently being distributed to users in China. Notably, the 12S and 12S Pro models are exclusive to the Chinese market, thereby restricting regional firmware builds to this specific area.
Global Release and Enhancements
Conversely, the standard Xiaomi 12 made its way to multiple international markets, resulting in a variety of regional software builds. Owners of these variants can anticipate the HyperOS update becoming available for their devices in the near future. Besides introducing HyperOS features, the system update also elevates the Android version to 14. However, the Xiaomi 12S benefits from the latest security patches dated February 2024, while the Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12 devices see updates with January 2024 and December 2023 security patches, respectively.
The updates for these devices in China are denoted by the following build numbers:
- Xiaomi 12S Pro – 1.0.3.0.ULECNXM (5.5GB)
- Xiaomi 12S – 1.0.3.0.ULTCNXM (5.4GB)
- Xiaomi 12 – 1.0.2.0.ULCCNXM (5.3GB)
These firmware updates are being gradually distributed to users in phases, ensuring a smooth and efficient deployment process.
