Mysterious Xiaomi Phone Spotted at MIIT Certification, Possibly Xiaomi Civi 4

A new Xiaomi smartphone, identified by the model number 24053PY09C, has recently appeared in the certification records of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). While the official name of the device is currently unknown, speculation suggests it could be the Xiaomi Civi 4, a device that has been the subject of rumors for some time.

Although details from the MIIT certification are sparse, it does confirm that the device will support 5G network connectivity. If this is indeed the Xiaomi Civi 4, leaked information regarding its features has started to surface.

Reports indicate that the phone will come equipped with a 1.5K flat display protected by a 2.7D micro curved glass, a design reminiscent of Xiaomi’s 14 series. Noteworthy is the inclusion of Leica co-branded cameras, featuring a 50MP sensor, marking the first instance of a non-Xiaomi series phone sporting Leica branding.

The device is expected to have a metal frame and glass back similar to flagship smartphones. It is rumored to house a battery capacity exceeding 5,000mAh with fast charging capabilities, potentially reaching up to 100W or even 120W.

One of the key highlights is the alleged utilization of Qualcomm’s upcoming SM8635 (Snapdragon 8s Gen 3) processor. Qualcomm is set to introduce its new SoCs on March 18th, which may include the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and 7+ Gen 3.

The timing of the MIIT certification aligns well with Qualcomm’s upcoming announcement, indicating that Xiaomi could be among the initial users of the new Snapdragon SoC. Although the exact launch date for the Xiaomi Civi 4 remains unknown, previous reports hint at a potential release around May.

Last year’s Xiaomi Civi 3 was launched in May, featuring a slim design and a Dimensity 8200-Ultra processor. The upcoming Civi 4 seems poised to enhance these features, promising improved performance and imaging capabilities. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available.
