The last day of CES 2024 in Las Vegas has seen the launch of two exciting new electric two-wheelers from Segway. The Segway Xyber, also known as the silent beast, is an off-road e-bike with impressive range, while the Segway Xafari is a practical step-through trekking commuter e-bike. Both models have generated a lot of buzz and are considered highlights of Segway's performance at CES 2024.
Segway Xyber: The Silent Beast
The Segway Xyber is a powerful e-bike that resembles the Sur-Ron style. It features chunky tires and is capable of achieving an impressive range of up to 95 miles. With its aggressive motorcycle styling and lightweight appearance, the Xyber combines the best of both worlds. It also incorporates Cyberpunk aesthetics and is designed as an off-road-ready machine.
In terms of performance, the Segway Xyber boasts some solid parameters. It comes with 120mm of suspension travel using front forks and a rear mono shock. The bike is equipped with wide tires and even has pedals, despite its motorbike-like looks. The frame design is partially exposed, with round tubes in the top part and square tubing in the rear swingarm and bottom half.
The front seat of the Xyber is covered with an angular metal/plastic material, and the battery is protected by a bash guard. While the bike can accommodate one passenger, grab handles for the passenger are omitted. The Xyber is said to deliver a torque of 175Nm, although the exact motor specifications have not been disclosed.
Segway Xafari: The Practical Trekking E-Bike
In contrast to the Xyber, the Segway Xafari is a more practical and versatile e-bike. It features a dual-suspension setup and a step-through frame design, making it suitable for a wide range of riders. The Xafari is equipped with 26-inch tires, which offer improved comfort, safety, and efficiency.
The bike features a dual suspension system with 80mm of travel at the front and 70mm at the rear. It also comes with a sizeable luggage rack and a kickstand, adding to its versatility. With its 913Wh battery and 750W, 80Nm hub motor, the Xafari is a capable trekking e-bike. While specific range details have not been provided, Segway claims that the Xafari outperforms the average e-bike in the US.
Features and Availability
Both the Segway Xyber and Xafari e-bikes come with a range of features to enhance the riding experience. They include a dial to increase motor output, auto-activating headlights, and a smart cockpit that displays ride and battery information. As added safety and security measures, the bikes also feature GPS tracking and Apple Find My tracking.
Segway is expected to release full pricing information and availability details for the new e-bikes in the near future. With their impressive specifications and innovative features, the Segway Xyber and Xafari are set to make a splash in the electric two-wheeler market.
