China's Mobile Phone Market Sees Slower Decline in Q4 2023
According to a recent report by Canalys, the decline in China's mobile phone market has slowed down in the last quarter of 2023. The report reveals that smartphone shipments during this period reached 73.9 million units, representing a mere 1% decrease compared to the same period the previous year.
Top Five Brands in Sales
The report also highlights the top five brands in terms of sales during the fourth quarter. Apple leads the pack with 17.5 million units shipped, marking a 6% increase from the previous year. Honor follows closely in second place with a 16% market share and 11.7 million units shipped. Vivo secures the third position, shipping 11.3 million units.
Notably, Huawei experienced a significant 47% increase in shipments compared to the previous year, reclaiming its position in the top five at fourth place. Huawei shipped 10.4 million units, thanks to the success of the "Mate 60 Pro," which utilizes self-developed Kirin chips and innovative features like satellite calling. Xiaomi rounds out the top five with 9.5 million units shipped.
Annual Shipments and Market Share
Looking at the entire year of 2023, smartphone shipments in China experienced a 5% decline, totaling 273 million units. Apple achieved a remarkable milestone by topping the annual shipment chart in mainland China for the first time. The tech giant witnessed a slight 1% increase in shipments and saw its market share grow to 19%.
Vivo, Oppo, and Honor each maintained a stable market share of 16%, with respective annual shipments of 44.5 million, 43.9 million, and 43.6 million units. Xiaomi retained its fifth position in the market with a 13% share.
Huawei, on the other hand, made a significant leap, moving from an 8% market share in 2022 to 12% in 2023. The company experienced a remarkable 48% increase in shipments, showcasing its resilience and competitiveness in the market.
