Honor’s Strategy for Global Expansion Over the Next 3 Years

In the first quarter of 2023, Honor was the only Chinese brand to witness increased market share outside mainland China. Almost a year later, the brand has now revealed how much growth it saw throughout the year.

At the same time, the company also disclosed its growth forecast for 2024. It has even set an ambitious target for the coming years.

Honor's Growth and Forecast

In a recent discussion with the media, Honor's CEO George Zhao shared insightful details about the brand's growth trajectory and future plans. The company saw a remarkable surge in smartphone sales in the EU, with a growth rate exceeding 200% in 2023. Looking ahead to 2024, Honor predicts a further 100% growth.

Embracing AI Technology and Partnerships

Zhao emphasized Honor's strategic focus on leveraging AI technology to propel its growth. The implementation of an intent-based UI in MagicOS 8.0 is positioned as a pivotal step towards the brand's future endeavors. Additionally, partnerships with tech giants like Meta and Google are expected to introduce on-device AI models to enhance user experiences. The Magic 6 Pro smartphone already showcases a working demo of Meta's Llama 2 LLM, highlighting Honor's commitment to innovation.

Ambitious Targets and Market Expansion

Honor has set ambitious goals to expand its global reach, aiming to increase global phone sales to over 50% of its total sales within the next three years. Currently, this figure stands at 20%. While exact strategies to achieve this milestone remain undisclosed, speculations suggest a reinforced presence in key markets such as Latin America and the Middle East and Africa regions. The brand may focus on offering a diverse range of products, including the affordable X series handsets and mid-range number series phones.

Competition in the Premium Segment

Notably, Honor aims to position itself as a formidable competitor against industry giants like Apple and Samsung in the premium smartphone segment. This strategic move aligns with the brand's transition to a prominent player in global markets, stepping into the void left by its former parent company, Huawei. The innovative and premium-focused Magic series smartphones from Honor reflect this aspiration, characterized by their sophisticated features and premium pricing.
