PNY has introduced its new lineup of flash memory cards, the PNY PRO Elite Prime Class 10 U3 V30 A2 microSD, along with the PNY Performance Prime USB 3.2 Gen 1 microSD card reader.
Speed Ratings Explained
MicroSD flash drives come with speed ratings that give customers assurance about the minimum sequential transfer speeds. The initial speed class used the letter C in front of the abbreviated MB/s transfer rate. For instance, a C10 card guarantees a transfer rate of 10MB/s. Later on, faster classes like Ultra High Speed (UHS), Video Speed, and SD Express were introduced, maintaining the same format. Notably, the Video Speed class was created for 4K and 8K cameras.
Understanding Application Performance Class
The Application Performance class rating provides buyers with the least random IOPS (input/output operations per second) read and write speeds, ensuring a minimum sustained sequential write rate of 10MB/s. The A1 rating offers 500 IOPS write and 1,500 IOPS read speeds, whereas the A2 rating gives 2,000 IOPS write and 4,000 IOPS read speeds. This rating is particularly crucial for users of Android smartphones who desire quick responsiveness while running apps from these cards.
Impressive Write and Read Speeds
The newly launched PNY cards achieve write speeds of 150MB/s and read speeds of 200MB/s. The U3 V30 A2 microSD card ratings guarantee excellent performance in 4K cameras, action cameras, and smartphones. Moreover, the USB-A card reader is compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1 (previously known as USB 3.0).
The PNY PRO Elite Prime microSD cards come in sizes ranging from 64GB to 1.5TB, with a price tag between $30.99 to $109.99. The PNY Performance Prime Card Reader is priced at $12.99. All these products will soon be available for purchase on the PNY store on Amazon.
