Oppo's Latest Smartwatch: The OPPO Watch X
Oppo has officially announced the upcoming OPPO Watch X, set to run on WearOS and scheduled for launch on February 29th in Malaysia. This new smartwatch marks a departure from the square design of its predecessors, featuring a round dial. Speculations suggest that the OPPO Watch X might be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Watch 2, which is slated to debut on February 26th at the MWC 2024 tech event.
OPPO Watch X Available for Pre-order in Malaysia
The OPPO Watch X is currently open for pre-orders on the company's website in Malaysia, requiring a deposit of RM 50 (~$10). Customers can choose between two strap options: Mars Brown and Platinum Black. While the key specifications of the smartwatch are yet to be officially confirmed, it has already garnered significant attention.
OPPO Watch X and OnePlus Watch 2: Regional Variants
The OPPO Watch X, identified by the model number OWWE231, was first spotted in Malaysia's SIRIM certification database back in November 2023. Interestingly, a similar model number, OPWWE231, linked to the OnePlus Watch 2, was discovered in India's certification database a month earlier. These findings hint that the OPPO Watch X and OnePlus Watch 2 could essentially be the same devices marketed under different names for distinct regions.
OPPO Watch X's Expansion to China
The OPPO Watch X, under the variant OWW231, has already received certifications from 3C and MIIT in China. This smartwatch is equipped to support 4G LTE connectivity through eSIM technology. Anticipated to launch in March in China, the device is expected to carry the OPPO Watch 4 branding, further expanding the reach of this innovative smartwatch.
Rumored Specifications of OPPO Watch X / Watch 4 / OnePlus Watch 2
Rumors surrounding the OPPO Watch X / OnePlus Watch 2 point to exciting features, including a 1.43-inch OLED display with 466 x 466 pixels resolution. Powered by Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and BES 2700 dual chipsets, the smartwatch is rumored to offer 1 GB of RAM, a 500mAh battery with 10W charging capabilities, and various connectivity options like Bluetooth and 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi. The device is expected to boast an IP68-rated chassis, with the Chinese version running on ColorOS for Watch 6.0 and the global variant adopting WearOS 4.
