The OnePlus Nord CE 2, released in February 2022, has recently been updated to OxygenOS 13 F.53. Initially launched with Android 11, it has now been upgraded to Android 13, its final major Android update.
Security Patch Update
The new update focuses on improving security by introducing the March 2024 security patch. This patch addresses critical vulnerabilities within the System component, preventing potential remote code execution that could grant unauthorized access to the device. Additionally, it resolves issues in various components that could lead to privilege escalation or information disclosure.
Feature Removal
One notable change in the update is the removal of the Background streaming feature from the Smart Sidebar. This feature, which allowed videos to play in the background when minimized or when the screen was off, was a popular OxygenOS feature. However, it was found to be in violation of YouTube's terms of service regarding background video playback. As a result, OnePlus has removed this feature to comply with Google's policies.
