MSI Affirms its Commitment to Claw with Future Iterations in Development

MSI Announces Future Plans for Claw Handheld Gaming Console

At CES 2024, MSI unveiled its latest handheld gaming console, the Claw, which will be competing against other popular devices in the market such as the ASUS ROG Ally, Steam Deck, and Lenovo Legion Go. In an interview with IGN, MSI shared its future plans for the handheld gaming segment, along with some additional details about the Claw.

More Iterations of MSI Claw Confirmed

MSI has confirmed that it will be releasing more iterations of the Claw handheld console in the future. Clifford Chun, the company's System Product Managing Director, revealed that they initially focused on equipping the device with a 120Hz display instead of OLED. However, Chun mentioned that MSI may consider adopting an OLED panel for future versions of the Claw. The development of the Claw took two years, as MSI aimed to deliver a two-hour battery life, which was made possible with the help of the Intel Core Ultra processor.

Extended Lifespan and Future Upgrades

Chun also commented on the lifespan of the MSI Claw, stating that the company aims to provide support for two to three years, similar to laptops. This is due to the high demands of game titles. However, if users primarily play retro games, the device can potentially last for up to 10 years. Furthermore, Chun revealed that MSI is already in the process of developing version 2, version 3, and version 4 of the Claw, with the release window for these future iterations being determined by CPU and graphics upgrades.

Enhanced User Experience and AI Engine

The MSI Claw will feature Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, ensuring the best possible user experience during gameplay. Additionally, the handheld console will include an AI engine, similar to MSI laptops. This engine automatically adjusts the game mode for higher performance and frame rates, while also optimizing power consumption when watching videos or preserving battery life.

With its long-term vision and commitment to continuous improvement, MSI is set to make its mark in the handheld gaming market with the Claw. Gamers can look forward to future iterations of the console, equipped with new features and upgrades to enhance their gaming experience.
