  • First Look: Nubia’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 Rival and Nubia Flip 3 Revealed

First Look: Nubia’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 Rival and Nubia Flip 3 Revealed

    Key Takeaways

    1. Nubia is set to enter the book-style foldable smartphone market with a new device, the Nubia Fold, while continuing its clamshell series with the Nubia Flip 3.
    2. The Nubia Fold features a consistent bezel design and a significant camera island on the back, although details about the screen size and specifications are currently unknown.
    3. A technical diagram of the Nubia Fold reveals a centered punch hole for the front camera and highlights the locations of key components like the SIM tray and USB-C port.
    4. The Nubia Flip 3 showcases a fresh design with a cover display that wraps around the camera, differing from previous models and other brands like Samsung.
    5. No official release dates or technical specifications for the Nubia Fold and Nubia Flip 3 have been announced, with potential updates expected by the end of the year or in 2026.

ZTE’s Nubia has been in the foldable smartphone game for a while, having already released two clamshell models. Nevertheless, they’ve yet to unveil a book-style foldable like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. That might change soon, as a leak has surfaced showing a sneak peek of a new foldable device, tentatively named the Nubia Fold. This leak also reveals images of their third-generation clamshell foldable, the Nubia Flip 3.

First Impressions of the Nubia Fold

Shared by Evan Blass on X, the leaked image of the Nubia Fold displays the device in its unfolded state along with its backside, but the cover display is not visible. The phone showcases consistent bezels around its foldable screen, with a camera located at the top right corner. Unfortunately, no specifics about the screen’s size have been disclosed.

    Camera Features and Design Elements

The Nubia Fold has a significant camera island that nearly takes up the entire upper third on the reverse side of the device. Although there are four circles present, it is likely that not all of them contain a camera lens, similar to what is seen with the RedMagic 11 Pro+.

Additionally, the leaker provided a technical diagram of the Nubia Fold, which indicates that the cover display features a centered punch hole for the front camera. The sketch also highlights the locations of the SIM tray, speakers, microphones, and USB-C port.

    Nubia Flip 3’s Innovative Look

In contrast, the Nubia Flip 3 comes with a fresh design. Unlike Samsung, which tends to reuse the same design, Nubia revamps its foldables with every new version. The Nubia Flip, which was announced in 2024, sports a round cover display, while the Nubia Flip 2, revealed in January 2025, has a rectangular portrait-style display.

Now, the Nubia Flip 3 has moved away from that concept, featuring a cover display that spans the entire area and wraps around the camera, reminiscent of the Razr 60 Ultra (available on Amazon.de for €839). This model includes two rear cameras but appears to lack an LED flash; however, that’s not entirely true. Nubia has chosen to place the dual LED flash on the second half of the foldable, which might seem an odd choice, but it’s a similar approach adopted by Honor for the Magic V Flip 2.

    Future Details Awaited

As of now, there is no word on the technical specifications or release dates for either device. Nubia might decide to announce these details before the year wraps up or hold off until 2026.

Samsung Partners with LG to Test Galaxy S26 Exynos Chips

    Key Takeaways

    1. Samsung will use its Exynos 2600 chipset in both the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus models.
    2. LB Semicon has joined the testing process for the Exynos 2600, expanding Samsung’s testing partnerships.

    5. LB Semicon has prior experience in chip testing, previously working with Google on Samsung’s Tensor chips.

The Galaxy S26 series is only a few months away, and it’s clear that Samsung will be using its Exynos 2600 in both the standard Galaxy S26 and the S26 Plus versions. Recent reports from etnews reveal that the tech giant is involving an LG affiliate in the chip testing process for the Galaxy S26 to aid in this significant launch. Samsung has officially broadened its Exynos processor testing agreement to include LB Semicon, making it the third vendor working on testing this new in-house chipset.

    Testing Process Underway

LB Semicon is set to test the processors for the Galaxy S26 series, despite having previously focused on mid-range Exynos application processors. Following the new contract, the company has begun outfitting its Anseong facility with the necessary equipment and is getting ready for operations. In addition to LB Semicon, Samsung is keeping Doosan Tesna and Nepes in the loop for Exynos 2600 testing. These three partners will assess the electrical properties of the wafers after the circuit pattern is finalized to identify any defects in individual chips.

    Production and Partnerships

The expanded list of testing partners fits with industry insights that suggest the Exynos 2600 is expected to capture a 25% share of the total chip supply, while Samsung will heavily depend on Snapdragon for the remaining 75%.

    Experience in Chip Testing

LB Semicon has experience in handling crucial testing assignments, as they were responsible for chip wafer testing when Google utilized Samsung’s Tensor chips. Now that the processors for Pixel devices are managed by TSMC, the Taiwanese company oversees post-production testing for those chips, freeing LB Semicon to focus on the upcoming Samsung silicon.

In conclusion, the Galaxy S26 series is shaping up to be a significant release for Samsung, with a strong emphasis on quality through rigorous testing from trusted partners.

  • Oppo Find N6 vs Galaxy Z Fold 7: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Launch

Oppo Find N6 vs Galaxy Z Fold 7: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Launch

    Key Takeaways

    1. Oppo was the first to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in the Find N5, which still has the best battery life after nine months.
    2. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 has taken the titles of thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone, priced at $1,599 on Amazon.
    3. Samsung is not expected to release a new Galaxy Z Fold7 until mid-next year, while Oppo plans to lead the foldable market again in 2026.
    4. The upcoming Find N6 will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and may include satellite connectivity in a specific variant.
    5. It’s unclear if Oppo will return to the smaller design used in earlier models like the Find N and Find N2.

Oppo made history as the first smartphone manufacturer to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset when it released the Find N5 in February this year. Even after nine months, the Find N5 still holds the record for battery life but has lost its titles for being the thinnest and lightest to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, which is currently priced at $1,599 on Amazon.

    Future of Samsung and Oppo

Samsung is not predicted to unveil a new Galaxy Z Fold7 until around the middle of next year. However, Digital Chat Station has indicated that Oppo plans to once again get ahead of Samsung in 2026, along with competitors like Honor and Vivo. Recent information hints that Vivo is gearing up to launch the X Fold6, which will also feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 along with several other enhancements.

What’s New with the Find N6?

In contrast, Digital Chat Station emphasizes that the Find N6 will be the first foldable smartphone to come with Qualcomm’s upgraded Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. At this point, it remains uncertain if Qualcomm will produce a 7-core version of its top-tier chipset, which was exclusively available in the Find N5 for the Snapdragon 8 Elite lineup.

The leaker has also mentioned that the Find N6 will include satellite connectivity, similar to its predecessor. If the Find N5 is any indication, Oppo is likely to offer this satellite feature in a specific variant instead of across all models. However, it’s not guaranteed that this variant will be available for sale worldwide. It is also still unknown if Oppo will revert to the smaller design it first introduced with the Find N and Find N2, despite hints from executives during the summer.

Samsung Upgrades Galaxy S26 Ultra in Last-Minute Decision

    Key Takeaways

    1. Samsung has made significant improvements to the Galaxy S Ultra series since the launch of the Galaxy S20 Ultra five years ago.
    2. The Galaxy S25 Ultra maintains the 5,000 mAh battery capacity but supports 45 W wired charging, with compatible chargers sold separately.

    5. The Galaxy S Ultra series has evolved through five generations, leading to the current model priced at $949 on Amazon.

It might not be obvious, but Samsung has made many improvements to its Galaxy S Ultra series since it first launched with the Galaxy S20 Ultra five years ago. One of the standout features of the Galaxy S20 Ultra was its battery capacity, which increased from 4,500 mAh to 5,000 mAh, setting it apart from the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra that came before it.

Recent Developments in the Galaxy S Series

Since the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung has released five generations of Galaxy S phones, leading to the latest model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is currently priced at $949 on Amazon. While the Galaxy S25 Ultra is superior to the Galaxy S20 Ultra in many respects, it keeps the same 5,000 mAh battery capacity. Additionally, it supports a maximum of 45 W wired charging, but a compatible charger, which Samsung no longer provides in the packaging, is needed.

Anticipated Changes for the Galaxy S26 Ultra

There are hints that the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra may bring some changes. Recently, it was suggested that Samsung might introduce 60 W wired charging for this new generation. However, according to a well-known Weibo account, Instant Digital, there might also be a slight increase in battery capacity.

Specifically, Instant Digital claims that Samsung is preparing a 5,200 mAh battery for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which would be a 4% increase compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra and its earlier models. To put things in perspective, Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 Ultra alongside the more affordable Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus on February 25. The company is thought to be hosting its next Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco.

    2. Nubia is rumored to be developing a new smartphone, the RedMagic 11 Air, with a model number NX799J and a thickness of under 8 mm.
    3. The new model is expected to have a 7,000 mAh battery, providing a 16.6% increase in capacity over the RedMagic 10 Air.
    4. The RedMagic 11 Air will feature a 6.85-inch display with a resolution of 2,688 x 1,216 pixels and a slightly smaller body size.
    5. It may include a 50 MP primary camera, an 8 MP secondary camera, and a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset with up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

The RedMagic 10 Air was launched by Nubia last April and is still less than a year old. It currently retails for $589 on Amazon and features a 120 Hz AMOLED screen, dual 50 MP cameras, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor all within a slim 7.9 mm body. Despite this, Nubia has already made the RedMagic 11 Pro available globally, which we have discussed in another article. Now, it appears that Nubia is getting ready to unveil a new smartphone under the Air brand.

    New Model in Development?

At this time, Nubia hasn’t officially announced that a RedMagic 11 Air is in the works. However, TENAA has shown that Nubia plans to launch a new smartphone with a model number of NX799J that has a thickness of under 8 mm. The images below indicate that the NX799J comes with a 7.85 mm body and a large battery capacity of about 7,000 mAh (with a rated capacity of 6,780 mAh), which contributes to its projected weight of 207 g.

    Battery and Display Specs

Even though the RedMagic 11 Air is just 2 g heavier than the RedMagic 10 Air, the 7,000 mAh battery would provide a 16.6% increase in capacity over its predecessor. Additionally, TENAA reveals that the new model boasts a 6.85-inch display resolution of 2,688 x 1,216 pixels. It’s also said to be a bit shorter and narrower than the RedMagic 10 Air, measuring 163.82 x 76.54 mm.

    Camera and Performance Insights

Moreover, the TENAA suggests that the RedMagic 11 Air is equipped with a primary 50 MP camera, an 8 MP secondary camera, a 16 MP front camera, and an unspecified tertiary rear camera. Furthermore, it hints that Nubia will power the device with a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, which can be paired with up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage. According to our benchmarks, the Dimensity 9500 should provide the RedMagic 11 Pro with a performance boost of over 35% compared to the previous model. Unfortunately, details about the release date are still unknown for the moment.

  • iPhone Air Lags Behind iPhone 15 and Pixel 8 in DxOMark Camera Test

iPhone Air Lags Behind iPhone 15 and Pixel 8 in DxOMark Camera Test

    Key Takeaways

    1. The iPhone Air has a single 48 MP rear camera with a f/1.6 lens, sacrificing ultra-wide and telephoto options for a thinner design.
    2. The Motorola Edge 70 features three rear cameras in a slightly thicker body, providing more versatile photography options.
    3. The iPhone Air scores 141 points in DxOMark’s camera evaluation, ranking 41st and falling behind competitors like Google Pixel 8 and iPhone 15.
    4. The iPhone Air’s autofocus can be slow, and it struggles with white balance and exposure in video recordings, though it has strong video stabilization.
    5. While the primary camera performs well in general, the portrait mode can struggle with complex scenes, affecting clarity.

The Apple iPhone Air is equipped with a single rear camera that features a 48 MP sensor housed in a 1/1.56-inch format, paired with a speedy f/1.6 lens. To achieve its sleek 5.6-millimeter-thin design, Apple has chosen to forgo an ultra-wide-angle or telephoto camera, which is a notable decision given its premium price.

    Comparison with Motorola Edge 70

On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 70 proves that having more than one rear camera is possible, fitting three cameras into a slim 5.99-millimeter body. According to DxOMark’s thorough camera evaluation, the absence of specialized cameras leads to a significant reduction in points, as features like digital zoom and panorama modes can’t truly substitute for dedicated ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses. With a score of 141 points, the iPhone Air finds itself in the 41st position on the ranking list, trailing behind competitors such as the Google Pixel 8, iPhone 15, and Xiaomi 15.

Other Limitations of the iPhone Air

The iPhone Air also faces other challenges apart from its camera limitations. The autofocus sometimes tends to be sluggish, causing high-contrast scenes to appear too dark, and details can be lost when using portrait mode. Moreover, issues with white balance and exposure can be observed during video recordings. Nevertheless, the iPhone Air does excel in terms of its impressive video stabilization capabilities.

In many scenarios, the primary camera performs well, offering accurate exposure and color fidelity along with a broad dynamic range and an efficient night mode. While the portrait mode frequently does a good job of distinguishing the background, it can falter in more complex scenes, leading to some parts of the subject becoming unclear.

  • Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra Launches Expected, No Pro Models

Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra Launches Expected, No Pro Models

    Key Takeaways

    1. Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are expected to launch globally by March 2026.
    2. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is currently being tested in India, with a specific model number for the region.
    3. The international versions of Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will have different model numbers from the Chinese version.
    4. The Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will not be available outside of China.
    5. The international debut of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra is predicted to occur during MWC 2026 in Barcelona.

Leaker Yogesh Brar has shared new information regarding the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s global availability. Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 17 in China around two months ago, alongside the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. There are hints that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be revealed during the Christmas season.

    Testing in India

Brar mentioned that Xiaomi is currently evaluating the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in India. Reports suggest that this device will be identified by the model number 2512BPNDAI in India. The Chinese and international versions will carry the model numbers 2512BPNDAC and 2512BPNDAG, respectively. On the social media platform X, Brar also noted that Xiaomi is working on an Indian variant of the Xiaomi 17 to replace the Xiaomi 15, which is currently priced at $879 on Amazon.

No Global Release for Pro Models

Sadly, Brar’s tweet confirms that neither the Xiaomi 17 Pro nor the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will be officially available outside of China. This means that Xiaomi’s advanced secondary display technology will not be accessible to international customers. As of now, Brar anticipates that the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be launched by March 2026.

    Upcoming International Debut

This aligns with earlier predictions that the two models will make their international debut between March 2 and March 5 at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. At this point, it appears that the early launch of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in India will not lead to a simultaneous global release.

    4. The Find X9s is rumored to feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 Plus chipset and a 7,000 mAh silicon carbon battery.
    5. Expected camera specs for the Find X9s include a 200 MP primary camera and a 3x periscope camera, along with a 6.3-inch display.

Earlier today, we shared the newest gossip about Oppo’s upcoming foldable phone. To sum it up, Digital Chat Station predicts that the Find N6 will be the first foldable device equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold7, which also has a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, is expected to stay available until summer 2026, currently priced at $1,599 on Amazon.

    Early Info on Find X9s

In addition, Digital Chat Station seems to have disclosed some preliminary details about the Find X9s as well. For reference, Oppo introduced the Find X8s in April, which was five and a half months after the launch of both the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro in China. Considering that the Find X9 series is anticipated to launch just a week prior to the first anniversary of its predecessor, it’s not shocking to think the Find X9s might make its debut in late March or during the first week of April.

    Specifications and Features

As of now, Digital Chat Station indicates that Oppo plans to equip the device with MediaTek’s yet-to-be-announced Dimensity 9500 Plus chipset, paired with a roughly 7,000 mAh silicon carbon battery. Both of these are upgrades compared to what is present in the Find X8s. Additionally, these features are rumored to be supported by a 200 MP primary camera (Sony IMX09E) and a 3x periscope camera (IMX09A) that are said to offer ‘amazing ultra-telephoto abilities.’ Furthermore, Digital Chat Station suggests that Oppo will finish off this hardware with a 6.3-inch display, similar to the Find X8s that came before it.
