    The same employee added, “We’re not going to replace it because we don’t want to create a precedent. If we replace it and the new one makes the same noise, it just continues the cycle of exchanges.”

    Under the Reddit thread, a former Genius Bar Technician explained that the creaking noise was merely a cosmetic issue and wouldn’t be covered by the warranty. Another Reddit user mentioned that they managed to get an M4 replacement immediately after pushing store management over a similar problem.

In our recent evaluation of the ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD, we found that Lenovo only provides Full-HD displays with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. While business laptops do have distinct needs compared to multimedia devices, and cost considerations are important, Lenovo seems to be lacking in this area too. Although the ThinkPad T-series is marketed as a premium line, there are more budget-friendly options (like the ThinkPad E-series) that offer 120 Hz screens.

    Display Options

    The standard display for the ThinkPad T16 Gen 4 AMD is a 400-nit panel that has a low color gamut of 45% NTSC, which we do not recommend. The optional 500-nit panel, which we had on our review unit, provides decent image quality overall with vibrant colors, full sRGB coverage, and sharp visuals (even bright areas stay clear, thanks to the matte finish). Our calibration (the corresponding profile is available for free in our review) allows for very precise colors, making it suitable for photo editing. The LowPower display is also energy-efficient, contributing to impressive battery life in our Wi-Fi test (17 hours at 150 nits and 10.5 hours at maximum brightness). A 120 Hz display would likely consume more power.

    Room for Improvement

    Nevertheless, we believe Lenovo ought to offer buyers the choice of a superior panel. They certainly have access to high-quality OLED displays, but a higher-resolution matte IPS panel with a faster refresh rate would also be appealing to customers. A key concern for compact PC cases is their ability to accommodate GPUs while considering space limitations. Chieftec claims that The Cube supports GPUs measuring up to 335 mm in length.

    Ventilation and Features

    To ensure proper airflow, it can accommodate dual 120 mm fans. Additionally, a 200 mm fan is already installed at the front, positioned behind a round vent that is covered with breathable fabric, giving the case its distinctive speaker-like appearance. The ports are located on the top of the front panel and include two USB 3.0 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, audio out, and mic in.

    Cooling and Storage Capabilities

    CPU coolers can be used, as long as their height does not exceed 160 mm. The case also supports ATX PSUs (like the MSI MAG A850GL, currently priced at $100 on Amazon). It has the capacity for dual 2.5″ and dual 3.5″ drives simultaneously, which should be sufficient for most users. The case has a volume of 34.1 liters and measures 26.5 x 33.5 x 38.5 cm (or 10.43 x 13.19 x 15.16 inches) and weighs 4.6 kg (10.14 lbs).

    The Cube is now on sale in the EU, with a price tag of approximately €70 or around $80. It remains uncertain if The Cube will be available for international customers in the near future.
