    If the tipster is correct, Apple will upgrade from the 5x optical telephoto lens found in the iPhone 16 Pro to an impressive 8x telephoto lens. This change is exciting on its own, but it gets even better—there are hints that this might feature a continuous optical zoom up to 8x, somewhat like the setup on Sony’s Xperia 1 VII. With the last two generations of Sony’s premium devices, users can zoom optically from 85mm to 170mm equivalent, similar to a classic zoom lens, with the aperture shifting from f/2.3 to f/3.5.

    A Game Changer for Photographers

    The next part of this leak is equally intriguing, especially for those who take photography seriously. Reportedly, camera professionals can expect a specialized pro camera app for capturing photos and videos, which could potentially render third-party apps such as Halide, Kino, or Filmic Pro useless. Still, it’s uncertain if this app will be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro models or if it’s just a significant upgrade to Apple’s Final Cut application.
