  • Apple iPhone 17 Air: Tiny Battery, Single Camera, Ultra-Slim Design

Apple iPhone 17 Air: Tiny Battery, Single Camera, Ultra-Slim Design

    Key Takeaways

    1. Introduction of iPhone 17 Air: The iPhone 17 Air will be the first iPhone to feature the Air branding, aiming to create an ultra-slim smartphone.

    2. Design and Materials: The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have a titanium enclosure for durability and will be only 5.5 mm thick, making it the slimmest iPhone ever.

    3. Display and Refresh Rate: Expected to have a 6.6-inch display with a resolution of 1260 x 2736, the iPhone 17 Air will support a 120 Hz refresh rate through ProMotion technology.

    4. Battery Capacity and Efficiency: The device may have a battery capacity between 2,800 and 3,000 mAh, with hopes for good efficiency from the A19 Pro SoC and a custom 5G modem.

    5. Camera Features: The iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a single 48 MP rear camera and a 24 MP front camera, marking a shift from the multi-camera setups in other models.

We have a good understanding of what to expect from the upcoming iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, thanks to the numerous leaks and rumors about these highly anticipated flagship devices. However, the rumored iPhone 17 Air stands out as the most intriguing option, as it will be the first iPhone to feature the Air branding.

    Rumors and Expectations

As with all rumors, it’s important to take the information about the Apple iPhone 17 Air with a grain of salt. Still, we have gathered considerable information from trustworthy sources that gives us an idea of what this device may look and perform like.

For those who aren’t aware, the Apple iPhone 17 Air is the company’s latest endeavor to create an ultra-slim smartphone. Apple had a reputation for producing some substandard devices in the past just to make them thinner, like the iPhone 6, which had serious structural issues, and the MacBook Pros from 2016 that struggled with overheating.

    New Materials and Design

Thanks to advancements in Apple Silicon and the use of stronger materials like titanium, Apple is now able to pursue its goals of creating thin devices without compromising usability. While other models, including the iPhone 17 Pro, are expected to have aluminum bodies, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature a titanium enclosure for better durability.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will be only 5.5 mm thick, making it the slimmest smartphone Apple has ever released. The device is expected to have a 6.6-inch display with a resolution of 1260 x 2736, placing it between the iPhone 17/Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This larger screen should allow Apple to include a reasonably sized battery, which is anticipated to be almost half the thickness of the iPhone 17 Pro’s battery. Thankfully, the LTPO display will support the desired 120 Hz refresh rate, thanks to ProMotion technology.

    Battery Capacity and Efficiency

But what about the battery size? Reports suggest a capacity between 2,800 and 3,000 mAh, which might make potential buyers anxious. However, we have yet to see the efficiency gains that Apple could achieve with the A19 Pro SoC. If Apple can deliver strong efficiency numbers, it’s possible to have good battery life throughout the day. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Air will come with a custom-designed 5G modem from Apple, which could contribute to better efficiency.

Nonetheless, the battery isn’t the only area where Apple is making sacrifices. Numerous rumors indicate that the iPhone 17 Air will have a single 48 MP camera on the back, which is surprising for a smartphone priced over $1,000 in 2025. This will be the first flagship iPhone with a single camera since the iPhone 8 back in 2017. The front-facing camera will be a 24 MP unit, similar to the rest of the lineup.

    Final Thoughts

In conclusion, it’s clear that the Apple iPhone 17 Air—or whatever name Apple chooses for it—will be an exciting smartphone, but not entirely for positive reasons. While having a sleek phone is certainly appealing, things could go south if Apple does not provide satisfactory battery life and camera quality. The final outcome, of course, remains to be seen.

  • iPhone 17 Series Leaks: 8x Zoom, 8K Video, A19 Pro Chip & More

iPhone 17 Series Leaks: 8x Zoom, 8K Video, A19 Pro Chip & More

    Key Takeaways

    1. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will have triple 48 MP rear cameras with a new 8x optical telephoto lens capable of 8K video recording.
    2. The Pro models will feature a new aluminum unibody chassis and a vapor chamber cooling system, while the regular iPhone 17 models will have high-density batteries.
    3. The iPhone 17 and 17 Air will use the A19 chip with 8 GB of RAM, while the Pro versions will get the A19 Pro with 12 GB of RAM.
    4. All models will include a 24 MP front camera, with the iPhone 17 Air featuring a 6.6-inch display and Pro models maintaining 6.3 and 6.9 inches.
    5. Pricing for the iPhone 17 series in South Korea will be slightly higher than last year, with the base iPhone 17 starting at $799 and the Pro Max at $1,250.

A document comparing the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 series from a South Korean mobile carrier has surfaced online, unveiling new insights ahead of Apple’s anticipated launch in September. This information was initially shared by Korean analyst Jukan (@Jukanlosreve) on X (previously Twitter). Vadim Yuryev (@ilyayuryev), who is known for his popular YouTube channel Max Tech, later translated and emphasized the document, spotlighting the updates throughout the lineup.

    Exciting Camera Features

The standout feature is that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will both have triple 48 MP rear cameras, which will include a new 8x optical telephoto lens capable of 8K video recording. This is the first occasion where Apple has provided both Pro versions with the same high-level telephoto system.

Nonetheless, some responses to Yuryev’s tweet hint that the 8x may involve cropping from the sensor. A user on X, Keyboard Enthusiast (@keyboardenthusiast), remarked that “8x may be sensor cropping also,” and another user, Maciej Murawski (@maciejmurawski), suggested that Apple could be marketing various focal lengths (like 2x or 8x crops) as “optical.” Yuryev mentioned that a 10x number might be more logical for sensor cropping, leaving the details unclear until Apple gives more information.

    Design and Performance Upgrades

In terms of design, the Pro models will feature a new aluminium unibody chassis along with a vapor chamber cooling system aimed at enhancing sustained performance. The regular iPhone 17 models, including the new iPhone 17 Air, won’t get this cooling feature but are noted to have high-density batteries.

As for processors, the iPhone 17 and 17 Air will be powered by the A19 chip with 8 GB of RAM, while the Pro versions will upgrade to the A19 Pro with 12 GB of RAM. Battery capacities have also been specified, with a significant increase for the Pro Max compared to the earlier version.

    Display and Pricing Information

All four models are anticipated to include a 24 MP front camera. The display sizes for the Pro models remain the same at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, whereas the iPhone 17 Air will feature a larger 6.6-inch screen. The leaked document indicates new color choices, suggesting that the iPhone 17 Air might be available in light gold and light blue (sky blue), while the Pro models are rumored to come in navy blue and orange.

Pricing in South Korea seems to be just a bit higher than last year, with the iPhone 17 priced at $799, the iPhone 17 Air at $899, the iPhone 17 Pro starting at $999 for 128 GB, and the Pro Max at $1,250. It’s worth noting that much of the information in the leaked brochure, including new camera features for the Pro models and the battery size of the 17 Pro Max, isn’t entirely legible. The insights shared in this article rely heavily on Vadim Yuryev’s analysis.

If this leak is correct, it indicates that Apple is concentrating on enhancing camera features and thermal design for the iPhone 17 Pro series while maintaining stable pricing.

    2. The lineup may include three models, possibly the Xiaomi 16 Pro mini or Pro Max.
    3. The design features more rounded corners and the “biggest screen corner curvature in mobile phone history.”
    4. The phones will have extremely thin bezels, enhancing the viewing experience.
    5. Expected improvements include larger batteries, upgraded Leica camera systems, and faster charging, with a rumored launch date of September 24, 2025.

The Xiaomi 16 series is likely to introduce the first top-tier smartphones featuring the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. Recent leaks suggest that the lineup will include three devices, with the new model possibly being the Xiaomi 16 Pro mini or Pro Max. Although the company hasn’t revealed any details about these phones, a fresh leak has provided an idea of their potential front design.

    Design Changes

According to the leaked image, the Xiaomi 16 series may have more rounded corners compared to the earlier models. Specifically, the well-known tipster, Ice Universe, states this would feature the “biggest screen corner curvature in the mobile phone’s history.” They also noted that these smartphones will be more rounded than the iPhone 17 Pro.

The redesign could make the Xiaomi 16 series phones easier to hold than previous versions. The leaked photo showcases extremely thin bezels on all four sides. Ice Universe notes that these bezels are the narrowest yet, which should enhance the viewing experience significantly.

    Display Features

While these assertions are quite ambitious, Xiaomi has been focusing on the displays of its flagship devices for a significant time. Reports from the past have indicated that these new Xiaomi flagship phones will feature larger batteries, upgraded Leica-boosted camera systems, and quicker charging capabilities compared to their earlier models. The expected launch date is rumored to be September 24, 2025.

One standout feature of this smartphone is that you don’t need to restart it to change the battery. A small internal battery keeps the phone in standby mode for up to three minutes while you swap out the main battery. There’s also an extra battery included in the package. Xiaomi 16 Series Expected to Feature Major Battery Upgrade

    Key Takeaways

    1. Xiaomi will launch flagship smartphones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the Xiaomi 16 series on September 24.
    2. The Xiaomi 16 lineup will feature larger battery capacities: 7,000 mAh for the standard model, 6,300 mAh for the Pro, and 7,500 mAh for the Pro Max.
    3. Compared to the Xiaomi 15 series, the Xiaomi 16 series has significantly improved battery sizes.
    4. The Xiaomi 16 Pro has a smaller battery than the standard model but still offers an improvement over the Xiaomi 15 Pro.
    5. The enhanced battery performance is attributed to Silicon-Carbon technology, which is more widely used by Chinese manufacturers.

The first flagship smartphones featuring the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are set to be launched by Xiaomi, specifically within the Xiaomi 16 series. Recent leaks indicate that these devices might debut as soon as September 24, coinciding with Qualcomm’s anticipated announcement of the new mobile system on chip (SoC). A fresh leak that supports earlier claims points out that all three models in the Xiaomi 16 series will come equipped with impressive batteries to match the new SoC.

    Battery Details

Credible leaker Yogesh Brar posted on X about the battery capacities for the three models in the Xiaomi 16 lineup. The standard Xiaomi 16 is expected to have a 7,000 mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 16 Pro is said to have a 6,300 mAh unit, and the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max will feature a 7,500 mAh battery. These figures are significantly larger compared to the already substantial batteries found in the Xiaomi 15 series.

    Comparison with Previous Models

The Xiaomi 15 has a 5,240 mAh battery (in the global version), and the Xiaomi 15 Pro comes with a 6,100 mAh battery. While it may seem odd that the Xiaomi 16 Pro has a smaller battery than the standard model, it is still an improvement when compared to the 15 Pro, despite its rumored smaller size. The Pro version is said to maintain the same dimensions as the non-Pro model. Additionally, there are rumors of a Xiaomi 16 Ultra, which may feature a 1-inch sensor for its main camera along with a 200-MP telephoto lens.

    Previous Reports

This isn’t the first instance that these battery specifications have been disclosed. Just last month, another source revealed identical figures. This enhancement is largely possible due to Silicon-Carbon technology, which has been embraced more by Chinese makers than by companies like Samsung, Apple, and Google. The OnePlus 15 is also expected to include a 7,000 mAh battery with ultra-fast 120W wired charging. Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro are predicted to have sleek designs while hosting batteries larger than 6,630 mAh and approximately 7,500 mAh, respectively.
