The Apple iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max come with a fresh design, a 48 MP telephoto camera, and the most powerful processor Apple has created so far. They also offer a wider selection of accessories, indicating that Apple is stepping into the case market more assertively, reducing reliance on third-party manufacturers.

    Case Options

There are six distinct protective cases offered by Apple, starting with the new TechWoven case, which aims to take the place of the delicate FineWoven options. This case is crafted from 100% recycled polyester, making it a more eco-friendly choice. It features a slightly textured TPU coating to ensure a better grip. As with all Apple cases, the TechWoven case supports MagSafe and includes a camera shutter button. The cost for this case is set at $59.

    Alternatives in Color and Style

For those preferring vibrant hues, Apple has a $49 Silicone Case that provides a smooth surface and is made of 45% recycled silicone. Another option is the new iPhone 17 Pro Clear Case, which has a partially white back and is also priced at $49. This case promises to be relatively scratch-resistant and is designed not to yellow over time.

    Special Features with Beats Branding

Apple has also introduced three cases under the Beats brand. The Rugged Case, priced at $79, is designed specifically for superior drop protection with thicker, shock-absorbing side panels. The standard Beats Case, which costs $45, is thinner and made of polycarbonate with a matte finish.

    Innovative Kickstand Feature

A notable new option is the Beats Kickstand Case, which safeguards the iPhone 17 Pro for $59 and includes a unique stand that attaches to the case via a wrist strap. This strap, along with the stand, can be removed if you don’t need it.

    Crossbody Convenience

Finally, Apple provides a crossbody band for $59, available in ten colors. This shoulder strap can be attached to either the TechWoven case or the Apple silicone case, allowing you to carry the iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max comfortably over your shoulder. The strap is entirely made from recycled PET fibers, and its integrated magnets enable continuous length adjustment from 1.08 to 2.08 meters.

  • Apple iPhone 17 Pro: Turn Off PWM to Avoid OLED Flickering

Apple iPhone 17 Pro: Turn Off PWM to Avoid OLED Flickering

    Key Takeaways

    1. The iPhone 16 Pro uses PWM at a frequency of 239Hz to adjust screen brightness, leading to potential flickering.
    2. Users sensitive to flickering may experience eye fatigue and headaches, while others may not notice it.
    3. The iPhone 17 Pro introduces an option to disable PWM, potentially improving the experience for sensitive users.
    4. Disabling PWM may affect display performance at lower brightness, though specifics are unclear.
    5. It’s uncertain if the PWM-off feature will be available on other iPhone models with iOS 26.

In our detailed examination of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro, we discovered that this top-tier smartphone utilizes PWM to lower the screen brightness, similar to most current OLED devices. Our tests showed a PWM frequency of 239Hz with a 15% amplitude, indicating the screen flickers 239 times every second. The way the display behaves can vary a bit based on the brightness level set.

    Implications of Low PWM Frequency

A PWM frequency of 239Hz might make the screen flicker noticeably, which can lead to eye fatigue and headaches in users who are sensitive to such changes. On the other hand, those who are less sensitive often do not pick up on any flickering at all. Recently, MacRumors has verified that the Apple iPhone 17 Pro introduces a feature that allows users to turn off PWM completely, which could enhance the user experience for certain individuals. However, this setting needs to be activated manually in the system preferences.

    Performance Considerations

When this feature is turned on, users receive a warning that it might negatively impact the display performance at lower brightness levels, but it’s not defined whether Apple is talking about response time, refresh rate, or color fidelity. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether this function will be accessible on other iPhone models running iOS 26 or how Apple will manage screen dimming without relying on PWM. More details on this topic will be included in our in-depth review of the iPhone 17 lineup.

  • iPhone 17 Series Leaks: 8x Zoom, 8K Video, A19 Pro Chip & More

iPhone 17 Series Leaks: 8x Zoom, 8K Video, A19 Pro Chip & More

    Key Takeaways

    1. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will have triple 48 MP rear cameras with a new 8x optical telephoto lens capable of 8K video recording.
    2. The Pro models will feature a new aluminum unibody chassis and a vapor chamber cooling system, while the regular iPhone 17 models will have high-density batteries.
    3. The iPhone 17 and 17 Air will use the A19 chip with 8 GB of RAM, while the Pro versions will get the A19 Pro with 12 GB of RAM.
    4. All models will include a 24 MP front camera, with the iPhone 17 Air featuring a 6.6-inch display and Pro models maintaining 6.3 and 6.9 inches.
    5. Pricing for the iPhone 17 series in South Korea will be slightly higher than last year, with the base iPhone 17 starting at $799 and the Pro Max at $1,250.

A document comparing the iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 series from a South Korean mobile carrier has surfaced online, unveiling new insights ahead of Apple’s anticipated launch in September. This information was initially shared by Korean analyst Jukan (@Jukanlosreve) on X (previously Twitter). Vadim Yuryev (@ilyayuryev), who is known for his popular YouTube channel Max Tech, later translated and emphasized the document, spotlighting the updates throughout the lineup.

    Exciting Camera Features

The standout feature is that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will both have triple 48 MP rear cameras, which will include a new 8x optical telephoto lens capable of 8K video recording. This is the first occasion where Apple has provided both Pro versions with the same high-level telephoto system.

Nonetheless, some responses to Yuryev’s tweet hint that the 8x may involve cropping from the sensor. A user on X, Keyboard Enthusiast (@keyboardenthusiast), remarked that “8x may be sensor cropping also,” and another user, Maciej Murawski (@maciejmurawski), suggested that Apple could be marketing various focal lengths (like 2x or 8x crops) as “optical.” Yuryev mentioned that a 10x number might be more logical for sensor cropping, leaving the details unclear until Apple gives more information.

    Design and Performance Upgrades

In terms of design, the Pro models will feature a new aluminium unibody chassis along with a vapor chamber cooling system aimed at enhancing sustained performance. The regular iPhone 17 models, including the new iPhone 17 Air, won’t get this cooling feature but are noted to have high-density batteries.

As for processors, the iPhone 17 and 17 Air will be powered by the A19 chip with 8 GB of RAM, while the Pro versions will upgrade to the A19 Pro with 12 GB of RAM. Battery capacities have also been specified, with a significant increase for the Pro Max compared to the earlier version.

    Display and Pricing Information

All four models are anticipated to include a 24 MP front camera. The display sizes for the Pro models remain the same at 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, whereas the iPhone 17 Air will feature a larger 6.6-inch screen. The leaked document indicates new color choices, suggesting that the iPhone 17 Air might be available in light gold and light blue (sky blue), while the Pro models are rumored to come in navy blue and orange.

Pricing in South Korea seems to be just a bit higher than last year, with the iPhone 17 priced at $799, the iPhone 17 Air at $899, the iPhone 17 Pro starting at $999 for 128 GB, and the Pro Max at $1,250. It’s worth noting that much of the information in the leaked brochure, including new camera features for the Pro models and the battery size of the 17 Pro Max, isn’t entirely legible. The insights shared in this article rely heavily on Vadim Yuryev’s analysis.

If this leak is correct, it indicates that Apple is concentrating on enhancing camera features and thermal design for the iPhone 17 Pro series while maintaining stable pricing.

  • Apple iPhone 17 Air Price Could Be Higher Than Expected

Apple iPhone 17 Air Price Could Be Higher Than Expected

    Key Takeaways

    1. The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to have similar prices to last year’s models, while the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro may see price increases of $50 to $100.

    2. The starting price for the iPhone 17 Air with 256 GB storage is estimated to be around $1,099, with the highest variant reaching $1,499.

    3. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to have a 6.2-inch display and a powerful A19 Pro chip, while the iPhone 17 Air will feature a larger 6.6-inch display and a titanium frame.

    4. The iPhone 17 Pro will have a more advanced camera system with three lenses, whereas the iPhone 17 Air is expected to come with a single camera.

    5. Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event is scheduled to occur soon, providing an opportunity for potential buyers to learn more about the iPhone 17 series.

Just yesterday, we talked about an analysis from J.P. Morgan that looked into the pricing for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series. The regular iPhone 17 and the top-tier iPhone 17 Pro Max are predicted to have similar price tags as last year’s models. However, both the new iPhone 17 Air and the iPhone 17 Pro may see price increases of $50 to $100.

New Estimates on iPhone 17 Air Pricing

A fresh report from TrendForce has suggested that the iPhone 17 Air could be more costly than what was previously thought. According to TrendForce, the starting price for the base model with 256 GB storage will be around $1,099, while the most expensive variant could reach $1,499. This means there is only a $100 difference between the iPhone 17 Air and the iPhone 17 Pro, which isn’t too surprising.

Specifications of iPhone 17 Air and Pro

The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to have a smaller 6.2-inch display, unlike the Air which will feature a 6.6-inch one. The Pro version is also rumored to come with the more powerful A19 Pro chip. The iPhone 17 Air is likely to be thinner than its Pro counterpart and will have a titanium frame instead of the aluminum one suggested for the Pro. In contrast, the iPhone 17 Pro is anticipated to include an advanced camera system with three lenses, while the Air will only offer a single camera.

Clearly, the iPhone 17 Air and iPhone 17 Pro are quite distinct from each other, and the close pricing suggests that Apple plans to market them more horizontally than vertically. In simpler words, the Air isn’t just a budget-friendly alternative to the Pro, but a completely different product aimed at consumers who value sleekness over camera quality.

    Anticipation for Apple’s Event

With less than a week to go until Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event, it looks like future buyers don’t have much longer to wait. If you want a quick overview of what to expect from the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro, check out our Leak Lounge article for more details.

  • iPhone 17 and 17 Pro: What to Expect from Apple’s 2025 Flagships

iPhone 17 and 17 Pro: What to Expect from Apple’s 2025 Flagships

    Key Takeaways

    1. About 70% of current iPhone users plan to upgrade to the iPhone 17, which will be launched next week.
    2. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to have a significant redesign, including a large camera bump and a switch to aluminum material.
    3. Both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will feature enhanced cameras, including a 24 MP front camera and potential 8K video recording.
    4. The iPhone 17 lineup will transition to the new A19 processors, with Pro models expected to have improved performance and battery features.
    5. Pricing for the iPhone 17 series may see a slight increase, starting at $849, due to tariff issues.

Apple is gearing up for its iPhone launch season, with about 70% of current iPhone users looking to upgrade to the iPhone 17, which is set to debut next week. In recent months, we’ve seen a flood of leaks and speculation about the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, giving us a good sense of what to expect from Apple’s new flagship devices.

    Design Changes on the Horizon

The design of the iPhone is always a hot topic during launch events. In recent years, smartphone designs have stayed quite consistent, with Apple and Samsung often choosing the safer route, sticking to traditional styles that their fans are familiar with.

This time, however, the iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to undergo a significant redesign, possibly the biggest since the iPhone 11 Pro. The back of the iPhone Pro has looked nearly the same since the iPhone 11 Pro, apart from getting bigger each year. The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to introduce a huge camera bump that spans the entire width of the device. While the triple-camera setup will remain, the flash, microphone, and LiDAR sensors will be moved to the opposite side of the camera bump.

    Material Shifts and Logo Adjustments

Unexpectedly, the iPhone 17 Pro might switch to aluminum instead of using premium materials like stainless steel or titanium, which is quite surprising. Historically, Apple has used high-end materials as a selling point for its “Pro” models. The Apple logo will also be shifting downwards to accommodate the massive camera bump.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 17 isn’t expected to see any major design changes. It’s anticipated to have a larger 6.3-inch display, which is the same size as the iPhone 16 Pro and the new iPhone 17 Pro. As for color options, both the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro are expected to come in a variety of shades.

    Camera Improvements and Features

The standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro are expected to come with a greatly enhanced 24 MP front camera. Additionally, both lineups are rumored to keep their dual and triple-camera setups on the back. The base iPhone 17 will have wide and ultra-wide cameras, while the iPhone 17 Pro will include wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto capabilities.

All three rear cameras on the iPhone 17 Pro are likely to feature 48 MP sensors. There’s also talk of 8K video recording, variable aperture, and the ability to shoot video from both the front and back cameras simultaneously.

As previously mentioned, the iPhone 17 is rumored to have a larger 6.3-inch display. Most notably, it might finally come with a ProMotion display that can reach up to 120 Hz—a feature that fans of the standard iPhone have been waiting for over six years. The iPhone 17 is expected to use the same panel as the iPhone 16 Pro, which should provide a better viewing experience.

    Processing Power and Battery Life

The iPhone 17 Pro lineup is also rumored to have a new coating that reduces reflections and improves screen durability. Not surprisingly, the entire lineup is expected to transition to Apple’s upcoming A19 series of processors. The Pro models will utilize the full A19 Pro chip alongside 12 GB of RAM, while the standard iPhone 17 will have the regular A19 chip with just 8 GB of RAM. Built on TSMC’s N3P process, the A19 series is anticipated to deliver the usual performance and efficiency upgrades.

The iPhone 17 Pro is likely to implement a vapor chamber cooling system, which should be a great addition for those gaming on their devices. The standard iPhone 17 probably won’t have this feature.

When it comes to batteries, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to have a capacity of around 5,000 mAh, which is about 6.7% more than the existing iPhone 16 Pro Max. The Pro models may also gain a reverse wireless charging feature, a win for AirPods users. In terms of wireless charging, the iPhone 17 models are rumored to support up to the 25W Qi 2.2 standard.

    Pricing Expectations

The pricing for the iPhone 17 lineup is not likely to change much, apart from a possible $50 increase due to ongoing tariff issues. The iPhone 17 is expected to start at $849. The iPhone 17 Air, which will be discussed in a different article, will replace the iPhone Plus, while the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will likely retain their usual pricing with the $50 increase if rumors hold true.

With less than a week to go until Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event, iPhone enthusiasts won’t have to wait much longer to see what Apple has in store for them.

  • iPhone 17 Pro May Finally Get Long-Awaited Charging Feature

iPhone 17 Pro May Finally Get Long-Awaited Charging Feature

    Key Takeaways

    1. The iPhone 17 Pro may feature reverse wireless charging, a capability that Android users have had for about seven years.
    2. The information about reverse wireless charging comes from a leak by Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo.
    3. Apple has previously experimented with 7.5W reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro series.
    4. Users could charge devices like Apple Watch or AirPods by placing them on the back of the iPhone 17 Pro.
    5. Apple has not officially confirmed any details about the iPhone 17 series, with an announcement expected on September 9.

Apple is just weeks away from revealing the iPhone 17 series, yet leaks continue to surface. The newest information suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro might finally include a charging feature that Android users have had for around seven years now. This feature, known as reverse wireless charging, would enable users to charge compatible accessories using their iPhone 17 Pro.

    Details on the Leak

The leak originates from Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, which claims that Apple is working on integrating reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro. This isn’t the first time this feature has been mentioned regarding the iPhone 17 models. In February, another reliable source indicated that Apple was experimenting with 7.5W reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro series. If this information holds true, it would mark the first instance where an iPhone can wirelessly charge another device.

    Previous Charging Capabilities

Since the iPhone 12, models have been capable of reverse charging other devices when they are connected by a cable. For instance, the MagSafe battery pack could be charged with a Lightning cable plugged into the iPhone 12.

As for the reverse wireless charging feature, users with an Apple Watch or Apple AirPods could simply place their devices on the back of the iPhone 17 Pro to charge them. Although the leaker specifically mentions the iPhone 17 Pro, it’s likely that the reverse charging feature will also be available on the larger iPhone 17 Pro Max.

    Caution on the Information

It’s important to note that Apple hasn’t confirmed any details about the iPhone 17 series, so this information should be treated with caution. The tech giant from Cupertino is anticipated to announce the new series on September 9.

  • Apple iPhone 17 Pro Leak: New TechWoven Case Features Revealed

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Leak: New TechWoven Case Features Revealed

    Key Takeaways

    1. Apple has stopped producing leather cases for the iPhone 16 Pro to focus on eco-friendly silicone options.
    2. The FineWoven cases intended to replace leather have been discontinued due to negative feedback regarding durability.
    3. New “TechWoven” cases for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max feature improved sturdiness and a textured feel.
    4. The TechWoven cases include two attachment points for hand straps, sold separately, and support MagSafe for wireless charging.
    5. Design updates include a larger camera module cutout, an embossed Apple logo, and a dedicated cutout for the camera shutter button.

Apple is currently focused on silicone cases for the iPhone 16 Pro, having stopped producing leather cases to become more eco-friendly. The FineWoven cases that were meant to replace leather have been discontinued due to negative feedback about their quick wear and tear.

    New TechWoven Cases

Recently, leaker Majin Bu Official shared images (see below) that allegedly showcase the new “TechWoven” cases for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. These cases are said to come in colors like brown, black, blue, green, and purple. The new material has a textured feel, which is expected to be much sturdier than the FineWoven surface, offering a better grip and reducing the chance of slipping. Additionally, there are now two attachment points for hand straps at the bottom, but you’ll need to buy the straps separately. You can also use these points to attach the iPhone to a shoulder strap.

    Design Features

The cases still support MagSafe, allowing the iPhone 17 Pro to be charged wirelessly and used with magnetic accessories while the case is on. The design doesn’t reveal many surprises; Apple has made the cutout for the new camera module much larger, added an embossed Apple logo, and included a cutout for the camera shutter button, while the rest of the buttons are shielded with a cover. These new cases are anticipated to be announced in September, alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 Pro (Max).

  • Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max features powerful telephoto lens

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max features powerful telephoto lens

    Key Takeaways

    1. Chinese flagship phones currently dominate the title of “strongest telephoto lens in a smartphone,” featuring advanced dual periscope systems.
    2. Rumors suggest Apple may release an iPhone 17 Pro with a potentially superior telephoto lens.
    3. A leaker claims the iPhone 17 Pro will feature new telephoto technology, including an 8x optical zoom and adjustable focal lengths.
    4. The iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to upgrade to a 48-MP sensor for the telephoto lens, improving zoom capabilities significantly.
    5. Despite the exciting rumors, the accuracy of the leaker’s claims is uncertain, as past predictions have been mixed.

Currently, the title of “strongest telephoto lens in a smartphone” is commonly linked to Chinese flagship phones like the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra, Vivo X200 Ultra, or Oppo Find X8 Ultra, which features a dual periscope system. In light of fierce competition in the market, it might be surprising to hear that Apple could potentially release an iPhone with the best telephoto lens available. This intriguing claim was recently made by a well-known leaker on the Chinese platform Weibo, as illustrated in the screenshot below.

    Buzzing Rumors

The chatter about the iPhone 17 Pro’s telephoto lens has been ongoing long before this Weibo update. Just a few weeks back, another leaker sparked excitement by suggesting that a completely new telephoto technology has been created for the upcoming Pro iPhones. This information was supposedly based on a commercial for the iPhone 17 that is reportedly in production in Slovenia. The leaker specifically mentioned an 8x zoom and a genuine optical zoom solution with adjustable focal lengths, much like what’s found in the Sony Xperia 1 VII.

    Upcoming Sensor Enhancements

It’s pretty much a given that both iPhone 17 Pro models will receive a sensor upgrade, which is expected to include a 48-MP sensor behind the telephoto lens. This is a significant increase from the 12 MP found in the iPhone 16 Pro Max, allowing for a sensor crop that could facilitate a 10x zoom without excessive difficulty. Nevertheless, this alone might not be sufficient to claim the title of “Best Telephoto” in a smartphone. While the leaker has accurately shared several details in the past, he is not always correct.
