  • OnePlus Brings Back Popular Smartphone Model with Great Results

OnePlus Brings Back Popular Smartphone Model with Great Results

    Key Takeaways

    1. OnePlus is known for offering smartphones with a good price-to-performance ratio, providing value for money.
    2. The new OnePlus Nord CE 5 is a standard mid-range model, expanding the Nord series beyond the previous “Lite” options.
    3. The device features a well-constructed plastic body, a bright 120 Hz AMOLED display, and promises six years of security updates plus four major Android upgrades.
    4. Performance issues include screen flickering due to PWM brightness adjustments and increased surface temperature during heavy use.
    5. The camera performance is strong, and the phone supports quick charging, enhancing its overall appeal in the budget segment.

OnePlus has built a reputation for providing smartphones that deliver a solid price-to-performance ratio. Customers typically find they get good value for their money with devices from this brand.

    New Mid-Range Addition

For a long time, OnePlus’ more affordable mid-range offerings only included one “Lite” option: the Nord CE series. There hasn’t been a standard version for quite some time, likely to avoid competing too closely with other Nord models.

With the introduction of the OnePlus Nord CE 5, there’s now a new model that doesn’t have any extra suffixes, and we recently had the opportunity to test it out.

    Build Quality and Display

While the phone features a plastic body, it is well-constructed and feels quite robust. There’s also a unique white version that sports a marble-like design. The AMOLED screen, boasting a refresh rate of 120 Hz, shines brightly at over 1,300 nits.

The manufacturer claims to provide six years of security updates and four major Android upgrades, which makes this smartphone relatively future-ready.

    Performance Concerns

One of the main drawbacks of this budget-friendly OnePlus device is its use of PWM for brightness adjustments, resulting in screen flickering, particularly at lower brightness levels. This can be a concern for individuals who are sensitive to such issues, so it’s advisable to test the screen in a store before making a purchase.

We also noticed a notable rise in temperature on the device’s surface during heavy usage, which can be uncomfortable, especially during warmer months.

    Camera and Charging

The camera performance impressed us during our evaluation, and we have to commend the OnePlus phone for its quick charging capabilities.

To discover why the OnePlus Nord CE 5 outperforms many competitors in internet speed within its price category, along with additional insights and our overall rating, be sure to check out our comprehensive review of the OnePlus Nord CE 5.

  • iPhone 17 Pro Front Camera Tops DxOMark Review Rankings

iPhone 17 Pro Front Camera Tops DxOMark Review Rankings

    Key Takeaways

    1. The iPhone 17 Pro features an innovative 18MP f/1.9 front camera with a unique square sensor, allowing easy switching between shot orientations.
    2. The iPhone 17 Pro scored 154 points in the DxOMark selfie camera assessment, ranking it first among smartphones, surpassing competitors like the iPhone 16 Pro and Honor Magic6 Pro.
    3. The front camera is praised for precise exposure, broad dynamic range, and true-to-life color reproduction, though skin tones may appear too warm at times.
    4. With a 20mm focal length, the iPhone 17 Pro can fit larger groups into one frame more effectively than its predecessor’s 23mm lens.
    5. While the camera excels in bokeh effect and depth of field, it struggles with noticeable image noise in low light and may have issues with video stabilization.

While the iPhone 16 Pro comes equipped with a 12MP f/1.9 main camera that has a small 1/3.6-inch sensor, the new iPhone 17 Pro boasts an innovative 18MP f/1.9 front camera featuring a unique square sensor. This design is not seen in any other smartphones on the market. It enables users to easily switch between square, portrait, and landscape shots without needing to rotate the device.

    Impressive Performance Rankings

According to a comprehensive review by DxOMark, this enhancement has definitely paid off, as the iPhone 17 Pro achieved an impressive score of 154 points in the selfie camera assessment, securing the top spot in the rankings. Apple’s latest flagship model surpasses the iPhone 16 Pro and the Honor Magic6 Pro, both of which scored 151 points and are now in the second position. Following them are the iPhone 15 Pro with 149 points and the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL with 148 points.

    Notable Camera Features

The front camera earns praise for its consistently precise exposure, broad dynamic range, and true-to-life color reproduction, although skin tones can sometimes look a bit too warm. With a 20mm focal length, it’s easier to fit larger groups into one frame compared to the predecessor’s 23mm. The depth of field is adequate, allowing for crisp images of subjects in both the foreground and background, even without a variable aperture.

Apple has also outperformed its rivals by delivering a remarkably precise bokeh effect, likely attributed to the Face ID technology. However, the relatively small sensor does exhibit noticeable image noise in low-light situations, and the image stabilization may not be entirely effective, as shown in the video linked below.

  • OPPO Find X9 Global Models Feature Massive 7,000mAh+ Batteries

OPPO Find X9 Global Models Feature Massive 7,000mAh+ Batteries

    Key Takeaways

    1. OPPO has launched the Find X9 series in China, featuring enhanced battery capacities of over 7,000mAh for the standard model and 7,500mAh for the Pro model.
    2. Global versions of the Find X9 will maintain the same battery sizes as the Chinese models, alleviating concerns about potential reductions due to international regulations.
    3. The Find X9 series shows significant battery improvements compared to the previous Find X8 series, which had capacities of 5,630mAh and 6,100mAh.
    4. OPPO has achieved high battery capacities without compromising the device’s slim design, maintaining a thickness of around 8 millimeters.
    5. The Find X9 series prioritizes battery life while still offering a modern and visually appealing design, contrasting with trends of ultra-slim phones from competitors.

OPPO has recently captured attention in China by officially unveiling the Find X9 series, which is its latest range of flagship “camera phones.” A major enhancement compared to earlier models is the significant boost in battery capacity; the standard version surpasses 7,000mAh, while the premium “Pro” model reaches an impressive 7,500mAh. If you were worried that the international versions of the OPPO Find X9 might come with reduced battery sizes, you can breathe easy according to a new report.

    Global Battery Specs Confirmed

Due to strict international regulations on battery transport, the tech world had some concerns about a possible cutback in the battery sizes for the OPPO Find X9 series outside of China. However, tech tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore discovered that the global OPPO Find X9 (CPH2797) and Find X9 Pro (CPH2791) versions were listed in the EU Energy Labels. These official listings assure that the battery capacity for the global models will be identical to the Chinese versions. Additionally, a recent leak indicated that a similar situation will occur with the global OnePlus 15’s battery.

    Significant Battery Improvements

To fully appreciate the extent of the battery advancements in OPPO’s newest flagship devices, it’s useful to compare them with the previous generation. The OPPO Find X8 series already showcased impressive battery capacities, with the standard version having a 5,630mAh battery and the top-tier Ultra model offering up to 6,100mAh. In contrast, the Find X9 series elevates endurance to a whole new level.

    Impressive Design and Capacity

What makes the battery statistics of the Find X9 series even more remarkable is that OPPO has managed to achieve this feat without sacrificing the design’s form factor. These devices are able to fit large batteries while keeping a thickness of just around 8 millimeters. While they may not align with the trend of “ultra-slim” phones that brands like Apple and Samsung are currently trying to establish—though they haven’t been very successful—users will definitely value having high-capacity batteries in a device that still looks slim and modern.

  • Exynos 2600 to Boost Galaxy S26 Ultra with Enhanced GPU and NPU

Exynos 2600 to Boost Galaxy S26 Ultra with Enhanced GPU and NPU

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Exynos 2600 is Samsung’s upcoming SoC, with initial benchmarks showing mixed results compared to competitors like Apple and Snapdragon.
    2. The Exynos 2600’s NPU is reported to be 6 times faster than the Apple A19 Pro, with a 14% boost in multi-core CPU performance and a 75% increase in GPU performance.
    3. Recent Geekbench results indicate that the Exynos 2600 slightly outperforms Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in multi-core performance and beats it by 29% in GPU performance.
    4. Samsung may use the Exynos 2600 in select markets for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, despite historical concerns over Exynos chips compared to Snapdragon.
    5. The Exynos 2600 will be produced using Samsung’s SF2 node, making it the first 2 nm smartphone SoC, with production stability issues reportedly resolved.

With the release of the Apple A19 Pro, MediaTek Dimensity 9500, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the only major player yet to make its appearance in the crowded smartphone SoC arena is Samsung’s Exynos 2600. Although initial leaked benchmarks haven’t looked too impressive, it’s understandable since the launch is still months away. Recently, a report has surfaced making some bold statements regarding its capabilities.

    Performance Expectations

According to the report, the NPU of the Exynos 2600 is said to be an astonishing 6 times faster than that of the Apple A19 Pro, based on some undefined benchmarks. The chip is claimed to have a 14% boost in multi-core CPU performance and a significant 75% increase in GPU performance. The CPU improvement seems reasonable, especially since the Exynos 2600 is expected to feature ten CPU cores. Conversely, the GPU enhancements might be attributed to either an in-house GPU or AMD’s RDNA technology.

    Benchmark Insights

In the latest Geekbench results for the Exynos 2600, it only slightly surpasses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in terms of multi-core performance. While the final version might perform a bit better, it reportedly beats Qualcomm’s chip by 29% on the GPU side. If the chip employs the Arm Lumex C1-Ultra as its main core, its single-core performance could potentially match that of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500.

    Regional Variations

Initially, it was widely believed that the Galaxy S26 Ultra would be launched solely with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, just like its earlier models. However, new information suggests that Samsung might opt to use the Exynos 2600 in certain markets. This has raised some eyebrows in the community, considering Exynos chips have traditionally struggled against Snapdragon counterparts.

Despite these worries, Samsung appears to have pushed the Exynos 2600 to operate at 85% of its peak potential, which could mean we are looking at a genuinely competitive chip this time around. As it will be produced using Samsung’s SF2 node, it is set to be the first 2 nm smartphone SoC in the world. Earlier this year, there were concerns about its stability and production yields, but it seems those issues have been resolved.

    Key Takeaways

    1. OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Ace 6 on October 27 in China.
    2. The OnePlus 15 is the new flagship model, while the Ace 6 targets upper mid-range performance enthusiasts.
    3. The Ace 6 features a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a large 7,800mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
    4. The Ace 6 includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an IP69K rating, and is available in Quick Silver, Flash White, and Competition Black.
    5. The Ace 6 may be released globally as the OnePlus 15R, with the OnePlus 15 potentially debuting internationally in November.

OnePlus is set to unveil two new smartphones on October 27 in China: the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Ace 6. The OnePlus 15 represents the flagship model, taking over from the OnePlus 13. On the other hand, the Ace 6 is designed for performance enthusiasts and is aimed at the upper mid-range segment. Following OnePlus’s naming conventions, it’s likely that the Ace 6 will become known worldwide as the OnePlus 15R. Before the launch, OnePlus President Louis Lee has shared some key features of the Ace 6.

Key Features of the Ace 6

One standout feature of the device is its Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the same processor found in last year’s flagship, the OnePlus 13 (currently priced at $849 on Amazon). Additionally, the Ace 6 boasts a massive 7,800mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging. This battery capacity actually surpasses that of the flagship OnePlus 15, which has a 7,300mAh battery. In addition, the Ace 6 includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an IP69K rating for water and dust resistance, and a sturdy metal frame.

    Camera and Color Options

Camera details have yet to be officially announced, but promotional images suggest a dual rear camera arrangement. Recent reports have also highlighted the color choices for the OnePlus Ace 6, which are expected to include Quick Silver, Flash White, and Competition Black.

The OnePlus 13 was launched in China back in October 2024 and made its global appearance in January 2025, coinciding with the OnePlus 13R, which was essentially a rebranded Ace 5. Therefore, it’s quite possible that the Ace 6 will also make its way to international markets under the name OnePlus 15R. While there is no confirmed date for the global release of the 15R, rumors suggest that the OnePlus 15 could make its international debut in November.
