  • New Premium Hall-Effect Gaming Keyboard with Carbon Fiber and 8kHz Polling

New Premium Hall-Effect Gaming Keyboard with Carbon Fiber and 8kHz Polling

    Key Takeaways

    1. Iqunix is launching the EV63, a sequel to the highly regarded EZ63 Hall-effect keyboard, on August 6, 2025.
    2. The EV63 maintains a similar design to the EZ63 but introduces a Cherry lip for a lower front height.
    3. Enhanced performance features include upgraded Hall sensors and the M.A.T 2.0 algorithm for improved sensitivity, accuracy, and reduced latency.
    4. The keyboard will be available in three color options, with high-quality double-shot PBT and transparent frosted PC keycaps.
    5. The EV63 will feature minimal branding and is expected to be priced between $180–200.

Iqunix has made an official announcement about the launch of the EV63, which is a sequel to the highly regarded EZ63 Hall-effect keyboard. In our review of the Iqunix EZ63, we highlighted its superb typing experience, impressive build quality with features for enthusiasts, and a top-notch accessory set. Now, Iqunix is set to bring all the elements we loved from the EZ63 into the new EV63, its latest Hall-effect gaming keyboard. The EV63 is expected to be released on August 6, 2025, and Iqunix has shared many design details and features of this new model.

    Design Similarities and Changes

The design of the Iqunix EV63 appears to be quite similar to that of the EZ63, featuring dual rails held together by screw-on side panels. However, this time the company has introduced a Cherry lip, which is a small chamfer on the front edge, to slightly lower the keyboard’s front height. The new Hall-effect keyboard maintains the same 8 kHz polling rate and 16 kHz PCB scanning rate as the EZ63, which is definitely a nice feature, even if it isn’t absolutely necessary.

    Enhanced Performance Features

Nonetheless, the EV63 will come with upgraded Hall sensors, which, according to Iqunix, can enhance the voltage for better sensitivity and accuracy. Combined with the M.A.T 2.0 algorithm that was first introduced with the EZ80, the EV63 aims to achieve a rapid trigger accuracy of 0.01 mm and an impressive latency of just 0.125 ms. Additionally, the new Magnetic X Pro switch has a revamped opaque housing and a closed-bottom design that resembles the Gateron Jade Pro switches, which currently retail for $56 on Amazon for a set of 70 switches.

    Color Options and Keycap Quality

The EV63 will come in three different color options: black and pink with solid double-shot PBT keycaps, black with transparent frosted PC keycaps, and white with transparent frosted PC keycaps. It seems that only the black models will feature a forged carbon fibre accent along the Cherry lip, while the white keyboard opts for a more minimalist look with a solid white panel. The double-shot PBT keycaps on the EV63 look identical to those we tested on the EZ63, and they are undoubtedly some of the best keycaps found on gaming keyboards — they are thick, have clear lettering, and a pleasant texture.

    Minimal Branding and Pricing Expectations

All three variants showcase very subtle branding, with just a small “EV63” logo located in the top right corner, making them suitable options for minimalist gaming arrangements. While the exact pricing for the EV63 has yet to be disclosed, it would be surprising if it launched for less than $180–200, especially considering the clear keycaps and custom switches it features.

  • PlayStation 6: 10x PS5 Performance and Enhanced Ray Tracing

PlayStation 6: 10x PS5 Performance and Enhanced Ray Tracing

    Key Takeaways

    1. The PlayStation 6 may significantly improve ray tracing performance, offering 5 to 10 times more capability than the PS5.
    2. Rasterization improvements for the PlayStation 6 are expected to be minimal, not exceeding double the performance of the PS5 Pro.
    3. Sony is shifting focus towards achieving a stable 4K120 experience rather than further enhancing rasterization.
    4. A second, lower-priced model of the PlayStation 6 may be introduced, targeting 1080p resolution at around $299.
    5. The primary PlayStation 6 model is anticipated to cost between $500 and $900, competing with the rumored Xbox “Magnus.”

A recent leak from Moore’s Law Is Dead suggests that Sony’s forthcoming PlayStation 6 could offer a significant boost in ray tracing performance, boasting capabilities that are 5 to 10 times greater than the original PlayStation 5. Conversely, improvements in rasterization are anticipated to be rather limited, reportedly not even reaching double the performance of the PlayStation 5 Pro. This indicates a notable change in Sony’s focus regarding performance.

    Sony’s Strategic Shift

As stated by Moore’s Law Is Dead, this change stems from Sony’s internal evaluations, which reveal that most PlayStation 5 games already deliver a stable 4K60 or 4K80 experience, while user uptake of 120Hz remains relatively low. Instead of enhancing rasterization further, Sony seems to be concentrating on achieving a consistent 4K120 experience, along with significantly enhanced ray tracing capabilities. The PlayStation 6 is said to include custom silicon developed alongside AMD, designed to optimize the hardware’s performance on specific tasks like ray tracing and AI upscaling, akin to technologies like DLSS or FSR.

    Potential Variants and Pricing

Moore’s Law Is Dead also hints at the introduction of a second PlayStation 6 model, potentially priced around 299 dollars. This version would share the same architecture but would be tailored for 1080p resolution. This strategy would resemble the dual-SKU approach seen with the PlayStation 5 and its Digital Edition, but with more pronounced hardware differences. The primary model is anticipated to retail between 500 and 900 dollars, positioning it as a strong competitor against the rumored Xbox “Magnus,” which could be approximately 30% faster yet also pricier.

In conclusion, Moore’s Law Is Dead hints that this is merely “the tip of the iceberg,” stating, “I honestly know a lot more but I can’t say anything yet” — so let’s keep an eye on further developments.

  • Rumored Nintendo Direct to Follow Recently Announced Indie World

Rumored Nintendo Direct to Follow Recently Announced Indie World

    Key Takeaways

    1. Nintendo’s Indie World presentation is set for August 7th at 9:00 AM EST/6:00 AM PST, lasting around 15 minutes.
    2. YouTuber SwitchForce predicts that this Indie World event may lead to a broader Nintendo Direct announcement.
    3. SwitchForce outlines a three-phase strategy for Nintendo’s upcoming broadcasts, emphasizing the need for a traditional Nintendo Direct due to many Switch 2 games lacking release dates.
    4. The Indie World show is expected to feature games already available on rival platforms, with potential demos available right after the presentation.
    5. Despite skepticism about the Partner Showcase on July 31st, there is anticipation for a general Nintendo Direct focused on exclusive Switch 2 titles soon.

Nintendo has shared on social media that an Indie World presentation will take place on Thursday, August 7th, at 9:00 AM EST/6:00 AM PST. This show, which will last around 15 minutes, will spotlight indie games for the Switch and Switch 2 consoles. YouTuber SwitchForce suggests that the recent Partner Showcase and this upcoming Indie World could be leading up to a broader Nintendo Direct.

    Predictions for Upcoming Announcements

On August 3rd, SwitchForce made a bold prediction about another Nintendo broadcast being on the horizon. Despite having a shaky history with leaks, this statement faced a lot of skepticism. However, it turned out that Nintendo indeed confirmed the Indie World event.

    A Three-Phase Plan

Notably, the YouTuber forecasts a three-phase strategy for Nintendo’s upcoming events. He believes that with many Switch 2 games still without release dates, a conventional Nintendo Direct is essential. Games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Kirby Air Riders are scheduled for 2025, yet they still don’t have exact launch dates.

SwitchForce doesn’t specify when a standard Nintendo Direct might occur. He mentions that September seems to be lacking any major Nintendo releases, which might indicate that a presentation could happen in August. Splatoon Raiders is one potential Switch 2 game that could be announced at any moment. However, September has typically been a popular month for Nintendo to hold their big events.

    Expectations for Indie World

During the Indie World show, the podcaster anticipates that most games showcased will already be on rival platforms. Additionally, a demo for one of the games might become available immediately after the presentation.

With major companies like Microsoft not participating, many critics felt that the Partner Showcase on July 31st didn’t provide any thrilling new announcements. Even if the Indie World doesn’t meet expectations, a general Nintendo Direct with news on exclusive Switch 2 titles could be just around the corner.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Mod: Adding a 1TB NVMe SSD Upgrade

Nintendo Switch 2 Mod: Adding a 1TB NVMe SSD Upgrade

    Key Takeaways

    1. Yu attempted to upgrade the Nintendo Switch 2’s storage using a 1 TB NVMe SSD with a custom adapter from NV&T Labs.
    2. The DIY project involved soldering a PCB adapter to connect the microSD Express slot to the M.2 NVMe SSD port.
    3. The experiment failed as the Switch 2 could not recognize the SSD, displaying an error message about accessing the microSD card.
    4. The issue arose because NVMe SSDs do not provide the necessary communication handshake expected by the Switch’s SD Express interface.
    5. Future adapter versions may include a microcontroller or FPGA to resolve the handshake issue, potentially allowing for successful SSD upgrades.

Yu, who is a tech modder and the mind behind the YouTube channel Better Gaming, recently tried to increase the storage of the Nintendo Switch 2 by using a full 1 TB NVMe SSD. However, the results weren’t as successful as anticipated. This experiment was based on an open-source adapter design from NV&T Labs, aiming to change the console’s new microSD Express slot into a working M.2 NVMe 2230 SSD port. The theory seems solid: the Switch 2’s microSD Express interface is compatible with PCIe Gen 3 x1 and utilizes the NVMe protocol, similar to SSDs found in modern computers.

    DIY Project Overview

The DIY approach required the purchase of a custom PCB adapter, which acts as a simple bridge that connects the microSD Express pins to the M.2 slot. After a lot of careful soldering and a few failed attempts, the modder inserted a Corsair MP600 Mini 1 TB SSD, formatted it to exFAT, and connected it to the Switch.

    Results of the Experiment

While the console did notice something was plugged in, it could not recognize the SSD as usable storage, showing an error message that read “Unable to access microSD card.”

The issue? Even though both SD Express cards and NVMe SSDs use PCIe, they don’t share the same communication method. The Switch anticipates a handshake and protocol negotiation from an SD Express card’s controller, which a raw NVMe drive does not supply. NV&T Labs has stated that upcoming versions of the adapter will feature a microcontroller or FPGA to mimic that initial handshake.

    Future Possibilities

Therefore, it’s clear that you can’t simply connect an SSD to your Switch 2 and expect it to function properly. Yet, the foundation looks hopeful, and once the handshake problem is tackled, this could lead to a significant advancement for cost-effective storage upgrades on Nintendo’s next-generation console.

Last month, 8BitDo introduced a special edition of its Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller, inspired by the new video game, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. It appears that 8BitDo isn’t alone in this venture, as GameSir has also announced a controller themed after Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, thanks to a collaboration with Leenzee and 505 Games, the game’s developer and publisher, respectively.

Special Features of the GameSir Controller

AOC has just introduced the AG326UZD on the 1st of this month. This new monitor features a 31.5-inch 4K QD-OLED display with an impressive 240Hz refresh rate, replacing last year’s AG326UD. Interestingly, the company appears to be working on a new model aimed at the QHD market: the AGON Pro AG276QKD2.

    Unique Features of the AG276QKD2

This model sports a 26.5-inch QD-OLED screen that boasts a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a staggering 500Hz refresh rate. While 500Hz isn’t entirely unheard of in gaming monitors, it’s still quite uncommon, especially when combined with a QD-OLED display. Most current 500Hz models tend to use TN or swift IPS technology, which makes the AG276QKD2 a notable exception.

    Impressive Display Capabilities

The panel is sourced from Samsung—the same one found in the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6, Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q5P, and Philips Evnia 27M2N8500X. It’s a complete 10-bit display that offers fantastic color coverage: 100% sRGB, 99% DCI-P3, and 98% Adobe RGB. Additionally, it features a static contrast ratio of 1.5 million to 1 and supports DisplayHDR 500 True Black. The brightness maxes out at 300 nits typically and peaks at 1000 nits. The pixel density is 110 PPI, which is quite good for a 1440p resolution on a 26.5-inch monitor, with display area utilization (according to AOC) exceeding 90%.

    Ergonomic Design and Audio

The stand of the monitor allows for complete height adjustment (130mm), a tilt range of -5° to +23°, a swivel of ±30°, and both 90° portrait pivots. It’s also VESA mount compatible and comes with dual 5W speakers for basic audio functions. The design features a dual-tone black and gun gray color scheme, with RGB Light FX elements integrated on the rear.

On the I/O side, you’ll find 2 x HDMI 2.1 (DSC), 1 x DisplayPort 2.1, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-B (upstream), and a 3.5mm audio out port. However, it lacks a USB-C connection, which could be a slight drawback for some users, especially since many new monitors are including this feature.

    Gaming Features and Availability

Regarding gaming capabilities, AOC has incorporated all the typical features: Adaptive-Sync, AMD FreeSync, Dynamic Crosshairs, Game Color, Shadow Control, Picture-in-Picture, and Picture-by-Picture options, along with AOC’s own G-Menu software for personal tweaks. The monitor also includes QD-OLED Care features to minimize the risk of burn-in over time.

Details on international availability and pricing are yet to be revealed, but based on its specifications, it’s expected to be positioned at the higher end of the 1440p monitor market.
