Carbon Fiber Enables New VAM2 SL e-MTB to Match the Weight of Regular Mountain Bikes

When it comes to mountain biking, the addition of an electric motor often means a heavier bike, which can change how it rides. Focus, a German bike maker known for its high-quality bicycles, has introduced a solution: the VAM2 SL e-MTB. This bike aims to keep things light while providing enough electric boost to make rides enjoyable, without feeling like you’re steering a mini motorcycle.

    Lightweight Design

The VAM2 SL is pretty close in weight to regular mountain bikes without electric motors, thanks to its carbon frame and the smart design of its stem and handlebar. It’s a bit heavier than non-electric bikes but not by much. This design choice keeps the bike nimble and easy to handle on trails.

    Fazua Ride 60 Motor

Powering the bike is the Fazua Ride 60 motor, known for being small yet effective. It helps riders with a natural-feeling boost, especially helpful on climbs, without making the bike feel too mechanical. The battery life is solid, offering plenty of distance on a single charge, and there’s an option to add more battery capacity for those who want to go even further.

    Customizable Riding Modes

The VAM2 SL doesn’t just stop at great battery life and motor power. It also offers different riding modes that riders can tweak to their liking, making sure the bike performs just right, whether they’re looking for a gentle assist or a significant push during tough climbs.

    Models for Every Budget

Even with its high-end features, the VAM2 SL comes in different models to suit various budgets. The top-end model boasts the best components for those who can afford it, but there are also more budget-friendly options that still offer a great ride.

Xiaomi Cuktech Multi-port GaN Charger 65W (2C1A) now includes USB Type-C cable at a more affordable price

Just last week, Xiaomi’s Cuktech (formerly ZMI) launched a charger for iPhones. A few days after that, the brand has released yet another product.

    New Charger Bundle

The new offering from the company is a charger bundle. It is an updated version of an existing product at a cheaper price.

Back in November, Cuktech launched a 65W GaN charger with multiple ports. This power adapter officially goes by Cuktech Multi-port GaN Charger 65W (2C1A).

    Specifications

As the name suggests, the charger maxes at 65W output and features two USB Type-C ports and a USB Type-A port. Also, it uses gallium nitride instead of silicon.

At launch, this power adapter was priced at ¥99 (~$15) in China. It is also available in select global markets for around $30.

Now, three months later, the brand has released a new bundle in China that includes a 100W-compatible USB Type-C cable. More importantly, this version of the product is slightly cheaper at ¥94.

This GaN charger is comparatively smaller than regular 65W adapters on the market that use silicon. Even the pin can be folded to carry it without hassle.

    Output and Compatibility

Out of the two USB Type-C ports, only one of them supports 65W maximum output, while the second one is limited to 33W. Further, the USB Type-A port maxes at 22.5W.

However, on the global variant of this charger, both USB Type-C ports support 65W.

Cuktech doesn’t specify the charging protocols supported by the adapter. However, it advertises fast charging on products from various brands, including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, and Xiaomi.

    Availability

As mentioned earlier, this power accessory is sold in a few international markets. In some regions, it seems to arrive with a cable like the new bundle in China.

  • Mobile photography prompts smartphone manufacturers to create their own imaging firms

Mobile photography prompts smartphone manufacturers to create their own imaging firms

Smartphone manufacturers are constantly striving to improve the camera capabilities of their devices, with some brands even partnering with renowned imaging companies. One such example is Xiaomi, which has collaborated with Leica.

This partnership involves rigorous testing of smartphones by both companies, as well as the implementation of advanced effects for photos. However, it raises the question of whether every brand needs to establish such partnerships or if they can develop their own imaging capabilities.

Device manufacturers taking matters into their own hands

Thanks to advancements in hardware, smartphones are now capable of capturing impressive photos, although they still fall short of professional cameras. As a result, many device manufacturers are focusing on improving mobile photography and camera technologies.

The latest report from Digital Chat Station reveals that some smartphone manufacturers are planning to end their exclusive partnerships for imaging systems and instead establish their own private imaging companies. While it remains unknown which brand will take this step, it is speculated that Vivo or Oppo might be the first to do so.

    Continued partnerships and new ventures

However, it is unlikely that Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica will come to an immediate end, suggesting that these changes may occur in the future. It is worth noting that Huawei previously ended its collaboration with Leica and formed its own imaging company called XMAGE, which focuses on enhancing the photo and video quality of Huawei devices.

  • First software update for Apple Vision Pro introduces passcode reset capability

First software update for Apple Vision Pro introduces passcode reset capability

Following its recent launch, Apple has released the first software update for the Vision Pro headset. The update, visionOS 1.0.3, arrives two weeks after the previous 1.0.2 version which was released before the headset launch.

    Resetting Passcode Made Easier

While Apple doesn’t disclose all the fixes in this update, it targets a significant issue and includes general bug fixes.

The most notable change in the visionOS 1.0.3 update is the ability to reset a forgotten passcode. Previously, users who forgot their Vision Pro passcode had no recourse other than visiting an Apple store for a reset. Now, if the incorrect passcode is entered enough times, the headset will offer the option to erase the device.

This feature provides additional convenience and control for Vision Pro users. Apple maintains security by keeping the Activation Lock in place; erasing the headset won’t bypass the requirement for the owner’s Apple ID.

    Important Bug Fixes

Apple’s release notes simply state that the update includes “important bug fixes”. The specific bugs that have been addressed aren’t publicly detailed.

Vision Pro owners can download and install the update directly on their headset. Navigate to the Settings app and locate the Software Update section to begin the process.

Keeping Your Vision Pro Up to Date

As with any device, keeping your Vision Pro software updated is important to ensure you have the latest features, bug fixes, and security enhancements that Apple provides.
