Samsung has commenced distribution of its July 2026 security maintenance release, with the Galaxy S26 series serving as the launch device. The patch first appeared in South Korea on July 9, and a broader rollout encompassing additional smartphone models and regional markets is anticipated shortly. This is a mandatory security update, designed to close loopholes that could permit attackers to execute malicious code on affected handsets.
Scope and severity of addressed flaws
According to the official Samsung security bulletin, the update resolves a total of 57 vulnerabilities. Of these, 41 originate from Google’s Android security bulletin, while the remaining 16 are classified as Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE)—proprietary flaws identified and patched within the One UI interface layer. The severity breakdown includes five vulnerabilities rated critical, 42 rated high, and seven classified as moderate. The majority of these flaws impact devices operating on Android 14, Android 15, or Android 16. Several critical issues stem from memory management errors that can be weaponized for arbitrary code injection. By applying monthly patches, users effectively block highly attractive attack vectors.
Eligible devices and staged availability
Beyond the Galaxy S26 family, the July update is actively reaching the Galaxy S25 lineup, encompassing the S25 Edge and S25 FE variants. Foldable models including the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and the Galaxy Z TriFold are also on the deployment schedule. The initial phase is concentrated in South Korea, with a gradual geographic expansion to follow. Based on historical rollout patterns, older flagships and mid-range devices will likely receive the same patch after a short delay.

Users can verify update availability by navigating to Settings and selecting Software Update, then tapping Download and Install if the patch is offered. Timely installation is essential, because security bulletins offer protection only once the code is actively running on the device.
