Roku Adjusts Hardware Pricing Amid Ongoing Component Shortages
Roku has become the latest consumer electronics brand to raise the suggested retail prices across its entire streaming hardware portfolio. The new pricing structure, driven by sustained pressure in the memory and components market, sees some devices jump substantially in cost.
New Pricing Across the Streaming Lineup
The revised figures touch every category in Roku’s hardware range, from entry-level sticks to premium set-top boxes. The standard Streaming Stick now carries an MSRP of $39.99, up from $29.99. The Streaming Stick Plus rises from $39.99 to $59.99. One of the steepest increases applies to the Streaming Stick 4K, which has moved from $49.99 to $79.99. At the higher end, both the Roku Ultra and the Roku Streambar SE have increased from $99.99 to $149.99.
Supply Constraints Force a Difficult Decision
While the company has not published a formal statement, a Roku executive confirmed to industry outlet The Desk that the adjustments are a direct response to the ongoing shortage of memory and other essential components. The global memory market has remained tight throughout the year, squeezing margins and pushing production costs higher for hardware manufacturers. This environment has already prompted similar moves from other device makers.
Limited Window at Previous Prices
For consumers actively looking to purchase a Roku device, there is a brief reprieve: the company is currently offering discounts through its official online store that effectively roll prices back to their previous levels. These sale prices are available only while existing inventory lasts. Once current stock is depleted, buyers will likely encounter the new, higher rates across all retail channels.
