Microsoft has updated the Surface Laptop lineup with new processors just three months after initial details were leaked online. These new chips come from Intel’s Lunar Lake family and are featured in the latest models of Microsoft’s 13.8-inch and 15-inch laptops.
Battery Life Expectations
The Surface Laptop 11th Intel series is claimed to deliver up to 22 hours of playback for locally stored videos and around 14 hours of web browsing. Microsoft has yet to disclose the battery specifications for the new models, but a similar Zenbook S14 achieved comparable runtimes during testing with a 72 Wh battery.
Performance Comparison
In comparison, the Surface Laptop 7 13 equipped with a Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-80-100) showed slightly lower battery performance in the same assessments, although it has a battery that’s 25% smaller. This suggests that while the new Surface Laptops from Microsoft are expected to provide impressive battery life, they may not reach the official claims.
Features and Availability
In addition, the latest Surface Laptops come with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and models will also be equipped with 5G modems later this year. Furthermore, the 13.8-inch and 15-inch variants incorporate design updates that Microsoft revealed last year with its ARM-based models. The Surface Laptop 11th Intel starts at a price of $1,499.99 and will begin shipping on February 18.
