Xiaomi is preparing to introduce its latest mid-range family in China, with the Redmi Note 17 series now confirmed for a July 14 launch. Following earlier disclosures about the Pro model, the company has shifted focus to the standard Redmi Note 17, sharing several key specifications ahead of the event.
Display and design details emerge
The standard Redmi Note 17 will be built around a 7-inch OLED panel. The screen features a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach a global brightness of 1,200 nits, while also incorporating Xiaomi’s proprietary eye protection technology. This represents a noticeable size increase over the previous generation, as the Redmi Note 15 5G offered a 6.77-inch display.
Battery and charging get a significant boost
Xiaomi has equipped the device with an 8,000mAh battery, paired with 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging. The capacity marks a substantial upgrade from the 5,800mAh cell found in the Redmi Note 15, promising extended endurance on a single charge.
Camera and color options shown
The handset has been showcased in a “Meteor Purple” finish with a patterned rear panel, and a green variant will also be available. Branding on the rear camera housing confirms a 50MP primary sensor, though additional camera specifications remain under wraps.
Chipset clues and availability
While Xiaomi has not yet detailed the processor, a recent Geekbench entry suggests the Chinese variant may run on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform. There is still no official word regarding a global rollout for the Redmi Note 17 series. For comparison, the Pro variant is already known to house a 9,000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging, positioning the Note 17 series as a battery-focused lineup in its price segment.
