MagicX is preparing to expand its portable gaming lineup with a new model that prioritizes display quality and build refinement. The company confirmed the device’s name and several core specifications this week, signaling a shift toward more polished hardware in its upcoming releases.
A compact OLED screen and refined design
The handheld will be called the MagicX Mini Dream and is set to arrive ahead of the previously teased Mini40 and an unannounced MediaTek-powered device. According to a statement shared on the company’s Discord channel, the Mini Dream will feature a 3.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1024 × 768, built around the custom panel MagicX announced earlier this month.
Design details remain limited, but MagicX did reveal that the front of the device will use a full-glass cover color-matched to the shell, an approach reminiscent of the finish seen on the Retroid Pocket 6. The handheld is expected to launch in both Android and Linux versions, with pricing positioned between $80 and $180.
Production improvements on the horizon
While internal specifications have not yet been disclosed, MagicX indicated that broader changes are coming to its manufacturing process. The company said it will enforce stricter quality control, improve supply chain and component reliability, and raise the standard of craftsmanship across its devices. System tuning and software optimization were also highlighted as areas of focus moving forward.
The Mini Dream remains in the early stages of development, but MagicX has committed to sharing additional information as the project reaches key milestones. The combination of a small, high-resolution OLED panel, dual operating system support, and a renewed emphasis on build quality positions the device as a notable entry in the growing compact retro handheld market.
