Analogue has published firmware version 1.5 for the Analogue3D, delivering a significant upgrade to its 3DOS operating system. The 22 MB download introduces a suite of refinements, headlined by a new Internal Graphical Upscaling feature designed to sharpen image output while respecting the visual intentions of original developers.
Internal upscaling and screenshot capture
Analogue states that the new upscaling mode substantially improves clarity without compromising the authentic look of classic titles. The company also notes that games relying on 2D graphics should not experience negative visual side effects from the feature. When upscaling is active, users can capture screenshots directly in the enhanced resolution.
Recent Memory and compatibility fixes
A new "Recent Memory" function has been added, allowing players to resume their game immediately upon starting the FPGA console. The update also resolves specific stuttering issues and addresses compatibility problems with the 8BitDo N64 Modkit; however, Analogue advises that the Modkit itself must be updated to fully clear all related glitches. The user interface has been polished for smoother navigation, and several uncommon interface bugs have been patched.
Installation via SD card or USB
To install the update, users should copy the firmware file to an SD card, after first deleting any other firmware updates present on the card. Once the console is powered on with the card inserted, the update should begin automatically—a process that may take several minutes and must not be interrupted by powering off the unit. Analogue also offers a USB Type‑C update path, though the company describes it as a slightly more involved procedure. The new release continues Analogue’s pattern of targeted hardware emulation improvements, further aligning the Analogue3D with the precise behavior of original N64 hardware while adding modern convenience features.
