An early engineering sample of what appears to be AMD’s next-generation mobile processor has surfaced with noticeably improved benchmark results, hinting at steady progress for the Zen 6-based Medusa Point platform anticipated early next year.

Higher Clocks Push Scores Upward

The chip carries the same identifier as a previously sighted part: a hybrid 10-core configuration widely believed to combine four Zen 6 performance cores with six Zen 6c density-optimized cores. While the base clock remains anchored at 2 GHz, the maximum observed frequency has edged higher to 2,152 MHz. In the latest Geekbench 6 run, the engineering sample recorded 3,329 points in the single-core test and 16,555 points in the multi-core test.

Measurable Gains Over Prior Engineering Sample

These figures represent a roughly 5 percent single-core uplift and an approximately 10 percent multi-core improvement compared to earlier leaks of the same processor identifier. Such increments at the pre-production stage suggest further headroom remains as firmware and silicon tuning continue toward the expected retail launch.

Early Positioning Against the Competition

For broader context, AMD’s current Zen 5-based Ryzen AI 9 465 “Gorgon Point” APU—also a 10-core design—typically achieves around 2,900 points in single-core and 14,600 points in multi-core runs of the same benchmark. Meanwhile, Apple’s 10-core M5 processor, featured in the latest MacBook Air, reaches roughly 17,200 points in multi-core testing. The M5 result still holds a clear lead over this early Medusa Point sample, a gap AMD’s engineering teams will likely try to close as the silicon matures.
