  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 4G Launches as Upgrade to Note 13 4G

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 4G Launches as Upgrade to Note 13 4G

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 14 4G, which takes the place of the Redmi Note 13 4G (currently priced at $174.99 on Amazon). This new model has been available for close to a year and shows both enhancements and some unchanged features compared to its forerunner.

    Camera Enhancements

The Redmi Note 14 4G keeps the same 108 MP primary and 2 MP macro cameras as the Redmi Note 13 4G. However, it upgrades to a 20 MP front camera, although it replaces the previous 8 MP ultra-wide camera with a 2 MP depth sensor. This new front camera is nicely embedded in what looks like the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display, which maintains its impressive brightness of 1,800 nits and a resolution of 1080p. While Xiaomi has upgraded the protective glass from Gorilla Glass 3 to Gorilla Glass 5, the new phone’s dimensions of 163.3 x 76.6 x 8.2 mm result in a reduced screen-to-body ratio of 85.9%.

    Performance Improvements

On the flip side, the Redmi Note 14 4G is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 Ultra chipset, which promises over a 30% boost in performance. To complement this, it offers up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Additionally, the new model features a larger battery, now at 5,500 mAh, which is a 10% increase over its predecessor. The Redmi Note 14 4G will launch later this month with various memory options and will be available in a range of colors: Lime Green, Ocean Blue, Mist Purple, and Midnight Black.

  • Redmi Buds 6 Pro Launches with Triple-Driver Technology

Redmi Buds 6 Pro Launches with Triple-Driver Technology

A variety of Xiaomi products have recently launched globally, including the Poco X7 series and the Redmi Note 14 line. In addition to these new smartphones, the company has introduced the Redmi Buds 6 Pro to the international market. These premium wireless earbuds are designed to provide an “industry-leading” audio experience.

    Audio Technology

To achieve this, Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Buds 6 Pro with a triple-driver configuration. This setup includes dual PZT tweeters along with an 11 mm titanium diaphragm driver. This arrangement is claimed to deliver crisper highs and richer bass. For an even more engaging listening experience, the earbuds feature built-in dimensional audio modes that utilize head tracking.

    High-Resolution Support

The earbuds also support high-resolution codecs. These wireless ANC earbuds are compatible with LDAC and LC3 audio codecs. The LDAC codec, in particular, allows for audio transmission rates of up to 990 kbps, which should result in clearer sound details when used with compatible devices.

    Noise Cancellation and Battery Life

One of the remarkable features of the Buds 6 Pro is its “flagship-grade” Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Xiaomi asserts that these earbuds can cancel out noise levels of 55 dB, effectively blocking out mid-to-high frequency sounds. This performance is reportedly about 14.16% better than previous models.

In terms of battery life, the earbuds can deliver up to 9.5 hours of playback on a single charge. When used with the charging case, the total battery life extends to 36 hours (Anker 737 power bank currently priced at $106.48 on Amazon). Additional features include various EQ modes for personalizing audio settings, an AI-enabled three-microphone system for clear communication, and a design focused on comfort.

    Purchase Information

As for when you can get them, the Redmi Buds 6 Pro will be sold through Xiaomi’s official channels and authorized retailers starting January 15. In the UK, they will have a suggested retail price of £64.99 (approximately $81).

  • Redmi Watch 5 Launches Worldwide: Affordable Smartwatch with Bright Display

Redmi Watch 5 Launches Worldwide: Affordable Smartwatch with Bright Display

The Redmi Watch 5 was introduced in China in November last year, and now Xiaomi has finally made it available in the international market. This smartwatch features the largest screen in Xiaomi’s lineup and boasts the thinnest bezels to date. Specifically, it has a 2.07-inch AMOLED display, a clear improvement over the 1.97-inch screen found on its predecessor.

    Bright Display for Better Visibility

The display also offers a good level of brightness. While the previous model had a maximum brightness of 600 nits, the Redmi Watch 5 peaks at a brightness of 1,500 nits. Xiaomi claims that this enhanced brightness allows for better visibility, even in direct sunlight. Additionally, the smartwatch’s screen-to-body ratio stands at 82%, which further improves the viewing experience.

More Than Just a Pretty Face

However, the impressive display is not the only feature that stands out in the Redmi Watch 5. Xiaomi highlights that the device is crafted to provide a top-notch smartwatch experience. It includes an advanced linear motor that offers precise yet silent haptic feedback, along with a dual-microphone setup that reduces noise for clearer phone calls.

    Focus on Health and Fitness

Xiaomi has also prioritized health and fitness tracking in this model. The Redmi Watch 5 introduces a new self-developed heart rate algorithm, which is claimed to be 5.2% more accurate than the previous version. Moreover, the company asserts that the smartwatch can monitor sleep quality with over 10% improved accuracy.

When it comes to fitness, the smartwatch features more than 150 sports modes, including specialized options like running and cycling. It also includes a 5-system GNSS, which Xiaomi says enables accurate tracking for outdoor activities (Fitbit Inspire currently priced at $79.95 on Amazon). Additional features of the Watch 5 include a 5 ATM water resistance rating, local music playback, a battery life of up to 24 days, and a sleek design. The smartwatch will be up for sale starting January 15, with a price in the UK set at £89.99 (about $110).

  • Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Leaks Reveal Lower Camera Specs

Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Leaks Reveal Lower Camera Specs

Xiaomi has officially announced its first clamshell foldable phone, the Mix Flip, in July 2024. The next version has been creating buzz in the rumor circles and has shown up on various certification platforms, indicating that it is indeed on the horizon.

Camera Features of the Upcoming Flip Phone

A recent report from XiaomiTime has disclosed the camera specifications for the forthcoming Mix Flip 2. Sadly, the updates are not as thrilling as many anticipated. The Mix Flip 2 is expected to keep the same OV8000 50MP primary sensor and 32MP OV32B40 front camera as its predecessor. However, it appears that Xiaomi is replacing the 50MP telephoto lens found in the original model with a 50MP Samsung S5KJN5 ultra-wide-angle camera. The reasoning behind this shift is not clear, but I personally think a telephoto lens is more beneficial. For taking portraits or sharp zoom photos, I find telephoto lenses to be more adaptable than ultra-wide ones.

    New Features and Battery Upgrade

A recent leak from Weibo user Experience More supports these camera specs and adds that the Mix Flip 2 will have an IPX8 water resistance rating and will support wireless charging—features that were missing in the first Mix Flip. The tipster also noted a bigger battery, with a report from earlier this week suggesting it may come with either a 5,600mAh or 5,700mAh battery. This is a significant upgrade from the original Flip’s 4,780mAh battery, especially given the constraints that clamshell folding phones face in fitting larger batteries.

    Additional Specs and Launch Timeline

Besides the camera and battery information, earlier reports have also highlighted some other specifications of the phone. The Mix Flip 2 is rumored to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and is expected to be slimmer than its predecessor. To provide some context, the original Xiaomi Mix Flip is already pretty thin at only 7.6mm. Additionally, in August, the Mix Flip 2 was allegedly seen with model numbers 2505APX7BC and 2505APX7BG in the GSMA IMEI database. The first number probably refers to the Chinese version, while the second is likely the international model. The prefix “2505” may suggest that the foldable could be released in May 2025 (the fifth month).

Xiaomi Mijia Corded Vacuum Cleaner: 600W Power, $26 Deal

This vacuum cleaner boasts a robust suction power of 16kPa, thanks to an enhanced cyclonic airflow design paired with a 600W high-efficiency motor. With this setup, it can easily pick up dust, pet hair, and various other particles from different surfaces.

    User-Friendly Design

The vacuum comes with a newly designed gun-style form that improves ergonomics and ease of handling. It includes a 0.5L clear dust cup, allowing users to easily see when it’s time to empty it. The dust cup is simple to detach, enabling quick one-handed disposal without making a mess.

The revamped design, along with improved airflow and a cyclone tower for dust separation, provides strong suction for deep cleaning throughout your home. The device has a generous operating radius of up to 6 meters, thanks to a 5-meter power cord and a 1-meter body extension.

    Efficient Filtration System

The vacuum cleaner features a 5-layer filtration system, which can capture 99.7% of particles, including microdust and allergens as tiny as 0.3 microns. This advanced filtration includes a cyclone dust separation channel, a stainless steel micro-mesh, a high-density filter cotton layer, and a filter core, ensuring that the air released is clean and free from allergens. These filters are washable, making the cleaner both environmentally friendly and economical.

To enhance versatility, the vacuum includes several attachments, such as a slim 4cm floor brush, a crevice nozzle, and a bristle brush, allowing users to easily handle various cleaning tasks. The floor brush, with its 240mm wide suction port, effectively covers a larger area and can clean under low furniture without the need to rearrange heavy objects.

    Durable and Easy to Use

Constructed from sturdy ABS material, the vacuum features a one-button switch for easy operation and closely spaced vents for efficient heat management.

In addition, Xiaomi recently launched the Xiaomi Smart Dumbbells, which come with motion sensors, an LED display, and app integration. They also introduced the Xiaomi Mijia Top-Flow Pro Air Conditioner, known for its quick cooling and heating capabilities and utilizes HyperOS.

  • Xiaomi’s XRing SoC Leaked for Xiaomi 15S Pro Release This Year

Xiaomi’s XRing SoC Leaked for Xiaomi 15S Pro Release This Year

Word about Xiaomi’s intention to create a new in-house chipset has been floating around the internet for a while. Recent leaks provide substantial evidence supporting these rumors, as references to this chipset have been found in Xiaomi’s own Mi code.

    New Chipset Development

According to Xiaomitime, Mi code has confirmed the ongoing development of a new SoC by Xiaomi, which is codenamed "XRing." This chipset is anticipated to be marketed as the Pinecone Surge S2, serving as a successor to the Surge S1—Xiaomi’s first in-house chipset, which was introduced with the Mi 5c back in 2017.

    Specifications and Features

While specifics about "XRing" are still somewhat limited, it is expected to incorporate a MediaTek modem—possibly the T90 5G modem, based on previous leaks. The Surge S2 "XRING" is likely to be a 3 nm SoC built on TSMC’s N3E node and will feature a Cortex-X3 prime core, three Cortex-A715 cores, four Cortex-A510 cores, along with Imagination’s CXT-48-1536 GPU.

    Expected Launch and Model Compatibility

It’s doubtful that Xiaomi will utilize the Surge S2 in more than a handful of its devices this year, due to the inherent risks involved. Nonetheless, it seems almost certain that the Xiaomi 15S Pro, codenamed "dijun" with the model number "25042PN24C," will include this chipset.
