OnePlus Open 2 Leak: Might Not Be the Lightest Foldable Phone

The Oppo Find N5 is set to debut soon in China. This foldable device will take the place of the Find N3, which was released in 2023. For those outside of China, it’s anticipated that this phone will be marketed as the OnePlus Open 2.

    Exciting Features

In prior discussions, we mentioned the impressive water resistance that this foldable smartphone offers. Another significant feature is its claim to be the world’s thinnest foldable device. However, recent leaks indicate that it may not be the lightest option available in the market.

    Weight Comparison

Currently, the Vivo X Fold 3 is recognized as the lightest foldable smartphone, weighing in at 219g. A well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station, has revealed that the Oppo Find N5 or OnePlus Open 2 will weigh more than 219g. This means that while the OnePlus Open 2 will be the thinnest foldable, it will be heavier than the Vivo X Fold 3.

According to the leak, the thinnest foldable is said to have a thickness of <9.2mm, and the weight of the lightest foldable is not advertised, but is >219g – Digital Chat Station.

    Design and Specifications

Moreover, the leak indicates that the OnePlus Open 2 will feature a flat design for both its inner and outer displays. Additionally, there will be a side-mounted fingerprint scanner included.

The forthcoming foldable will come equipped with the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. It is predicted to include a 5,700mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Furthermore, it will likely have a triple rear camera setup, with a design reminiscent of the OnePlus 13’s rear camera module.

  • Oppo Find N5 First Look: Live Shots & Design Comparison with N3

Oppo Find N5 First Look: Live Shots & Design Comparison with N3

Oppo is set to unveil the Find N5 foldable phone in February in China. Recently, tech influencer Fixed Focus Digital posted a render based on leaks about the N5. Alongside this, an image giving a first look at the device next to its predecessor, the Find N3, has been shared widely on Weibo.

Design of the Oppo Find N5

The image shows the Find N5 on the left and the Find N3 on the right. The Find N5 is expected to be the thinnest foldable phone in the world, keeping the large round camera module that was a feature of its predecessor. Nonetheless, Oppo has altered the layout of the camera sensors and LED flash for the Find N5. The arrangement of the camera sensors is comparable to that of the OnePlus 13, with the LED flash located in the bottom-right corner and a periscope telephoto camera in the upper-right corner.

In contrast, the LED flash on the Find N3 is outside the camera module. The mock-up render below gives a good indication of what the final design of the Find N5 may look like.

    Specifications and Features

Reports indicate that the Find N5 will be about 4mm thick when unfolded and around 9mm when folded. Readers can check out live shots that compare the Find N5’s design to the Find X8, which measures 7.9mm in thickness. Regarding specifications, it is anticipated to have a titanium construction with an IPX8 rating, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 5,700mAh battery that supports 50W magnetic wireless charging, a 2K resolution internal display, a 50-megapixel main camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera boasting 3x optical zoom.

Global Release of the Oppo Find N5

In addition to its launch in China, the Find N5 is making its way to several Southeast Asian markets, having already received multiple certifications. Recently, the N5 also got the green light from Thailand’s NBTC authority. It is rumored that the same device will be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 in other regions, including the US, Europe, and India.

OnePlus Open 2: Design Leak of World’s Thinnest Foldable Phone

The OnePlus Open made its debut in 2023 as a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N3. Oppo has now announced that they will unveil the successor to the Find N3 in February in China. It’s expected that the upcoming Oppo Find N5 will also be known as the OnePlus Open 2 in markets outside of China.

    New Design Leaks

Before the launch of these new foldable devices, a recent leak has surfaced online, shedding light on the design and several important features. The leak points out four main aspects of the Find N5, which are likely to apply to the OnePlus Open 2 as well.

One of the key details from the leak is about the camera arrangement, which is located in the middle. The leaked visuals show a circular cutout resembling the OnePlus 13 model. Furthermore, it mentions that the telephoto lens will be in the upper left area, the flash will sit in the lower right, and the Hasselblad logo will be centered.

    Thinnest Foldable Smartphone Claim

Liu Zuohu, who is the Senior Vice President at Oppo, has praised the Find N5, calling it the world’s slimmest foldable smartphone. This could potentially take the title away from the Honor Magic V3, which currently holds that record. The Honor Magic V3 has a thickness of 4.35mm when unfolded. The leaked information suggests that the Oppo Find N5 will be less than 9.2mm when folded and approximately 4mm when opened up.

In addition, the leak hints that the display crease will be minimal. An image of the internal display shows a punch-hole notch for the selfie camera positioned in the top right corner. Finally, it is reported that the phone will come in white, black, and possibly more color options.

    Color Options and Availability

The information shared comes from Weibo, where additional details about the Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 may continue to surface as the launch date approaches.

  • OnePlus Open 2: Oppo Unveils Ultra-Thin Foldable Phone Video

OnePlus Open 2: Oppo Unveils Ultra-Thin Foldable Phone Video

The Oppo Find N5 is set to be introduced in February, and it might be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 in certain markets. Before the official announcement, the company has been hinting at the sleek design of the new foldable device. A recent teaser image indicates that it could be even slimmer than the Honor Magic V3.

A Closer Look at the Design

Zhou Yibao, Oppo’s product manager, has shared an additional preview showcasing the slimness of the foldable gadget. In a video, he compares its thickness using various common items. Zhou starts with four Chinese ID cards, moves on to two 1 CNY coins, and finally stacks 39 sticky notes.

These comparisons suggest an approximate thickness of around 4 mm, which would position the upcoming OnePlus Open 2 as the thinnest foldable smartphone available. For perspective, the Honor Magic V3, which previously held this title, measures 4.3 mm when unfolded.

    More on Specifications

While Zhou has provided a hint regarding the phone’s thickness, he did not reveal the entire device. A part of the Find N5 was shown, but the rest was concealed with paper. However, recent leaks indicate that it may feature a camera island similar to the OnePlus 13, which was just launched.

This implies that the OnePlus Open 2 may include a three-camera arrangement on the back, just like its predecessor. A Chinese tipster known as Experience More mentioned that the camera island would have a slight bulge from the body, giving the foldable phone a very sleek appearance on both sides.

  • OnePlus Open 2: Oppo Teases Launch of Thinnest Foldable Phone

OnePlus Open 2: Oppo Teases Launch of Thinnest Foldable Phone

After a recent remark by an Oppo spokesperson about the upcoming Find N5, details are becoming clearer. Liu Zuhao, Oppo’s Senior Vice President, has shared a specific launch timeframe on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, stating it will be between February 1 and February 28, 2025. The Oppo Find N3’s successor will first hit the market in China, with the international release likely occurring a bit later, potentially during the Mobile World Congress in early March.

    Impressive Specifications

A noteworthy element of the teaser (refer to the image below) is the claimed thickness of the flagship foldable device, which is expected to be under 9.2 mm when closed and 4.4 mm when opened. These measurements are currently held by the Honor Magic V3, recognized as the thinnest foldable phone to date. Oppo will need to surpass these specs if the claim about the Snapdragon 8 Elite-equipped OnePlus Open 2 being the slimmest foldable is indeed accurate.

    Design Features

The image indicates that the Oppo foldable is slimmer than a pencil, featuring flat edges and smoothly rounded corners. Previous leaks suggest that this device will boast a Hasselblad camera system, including three 50 MP sensors and a periscope lens, along with wireless charging capabilities and a waterproof design. Additionally, renderings based on an early prototype have emerged, showing that the overall design will remain largely unchanged when compared to the OnePlus Open.

  • Vivo X Fold3 Pro Successor Expected to Feature Fewer Cameras

Vivo X Fold3 Pro Successor Expected to Feature Fewer Cameras

The Vivo X Fold3 Pro features an impressive array of 5 cameras, but rumors suggest that its next model will only include 4.

    Camera Changes Ahead

Renowned leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) hasn’t clarified which camera will be removed. However, it seems that the Zeiss-branded periscope zoom lens from the 3 Pro will stay. This indicates that the main rear camera, the ultrawide lens, the 32MP selfie camera for the cover screen, and its counterpart for the main display may be the ones facing elimination.

    Possible Specifications Cutbacks

DCS has also mentioned that the upcoming foldable might come with reduced “peripheral specifications” compared to its predecessor. This term is quite ambiguous and could refer to a range of features, including the X Fold3 Pro’s advanced Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX support (similar to the affordable EarFun Air Pro 4 earbuds, which are currently priced at nearly $63 on Amazon) or the rapid USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C port that it offers.

Despite these hints, the leaker hasn’t specifically named the foldable device, leaving the door open for this to apply to other models like the next Honor Magic V-series flagship. Regardless of its name, it is anticipated that wireless charging will still be supported, which is a remarkable feature even in 2024.

    Battery Expectations for Future Models

The upcoming Magic V and X Fold are also believed to have larger batteries, potentially reaching up to 6,000mAh, while also managing to be lighter than the current versions.

Nonetheless, they may face competition from the OnePlus Open 2, which is rumored to offer similar benefits but with the added advantage of being slimmer, with estimates suggesting it could measure only 8.9mm when folded.

  • OnePlus Open 2: Next Thinnest Titanium Foldable Smartphone

OnePlus Open 2: Next Thinnest Titanium Foldable Smartphone

Oppo’s Find N5 is expected to be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 for the international market, with a launch possibly set for February 2025. If this occurs, the device could dominate the Snapdragon 8 Elite foldable smartphone segment for about six months, according to the well-known leaker, Smart Pikachu.

    Thinner Design Ahead

The leaker aligns with another reputable source, Digital Chat Station, suggesting that the Open 2 will be slimmer than its predecessor. In fact, it might be the thinnest foldable smartphone available at its release, as claimed by Digital Chat Station.

    Impressive Specs

The “Open 2” is rumored to feature a battery close to 6,000mAh, along with three Hasselblad-branded rear cameras, including a periscope zoom lens, and wireless charging. These enhancements could be substantial improvements over the previous generation, if the information is accurate.

    Premium Materials

Moreover, Digital Chat Station hints that the Open 2 will incorporate “titanium” in its design, which has led to speculation that the new model might have edges similar to high-end non-foldable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or iPhone 16 Pro Max.

It’s worth mentioning that the current OnePlus Open, which is priced at $1,299.99 on Amazon, already has some titanium reinforcement, but it’s used in a less visible area of its unique ‘million-fold’ hinge.

Thus, while the brand might look to promote its next-generation foldable with a luxurious frame, it’s more likely that the titanium is intended to enhance the device’s durability, as suggested by recent leaks.

  • First Look at OnePlus Open 2: Leaked Renders Revealed

First Look at OnePlus Open 2: Leaked Renders Revealed

The OnePlus Open 2 is generating a lot of excitement as one of the most awaited foldable smartphones for 2025. This comes after the success of the company’s first foldable model, which received positive feedback. New leaks have surfaced, providing what seems to be an initial glimpse of the upcoming device.

    Initial Look at the Device

According to Smartprix, the initial images reveal the rear and unfolded view of the OnePlus Open 2. These renders are said to be based on a prototype that is close to the final design, suggesting that the actual production version may differ slightly from what is shown.

    Design and Features

In terms of design, the OnePlus Open 2 appears quite similar to the original OnePlus Open. The images depict the main folding display with a punch-hole for the front camera at the top right. On the rear, there’s a circular camera module that holds three cameras. Notably, the arrangement of these sensors has been altered, now located at the 3, 9, and 12 o’clock positions. In contrast, the original model had its cameras at the 6, 9, and 12 o’clock marks. The LED flash remains outside the camera area, and the Hasselblad branding is still present.

    Significant Changes

One of the main differences lies in the dimensions. The OnePlus Open 2 is said to be thinner than its predecessor, measuring under 10mm when folded, compared to the 11.7mm thickness of the original model. It’s also expected to come with an IPX8 water resistance rating, improving upon the IPX4 rating seen in the previous version.

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Open 2 is rumored to feature a larger cover display and main display, with sizes of 6.4 inches and 8.0 inches, respectively. It is anticipated to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

    Battery and Charging Improvements

Reports also suggest the device will boast an IPX8 water resistance rating, which is a step up from the IPX4 rating of the previous model. Furthermore, it’s expected to include triple 50MP cameras and a significantly larger 5,900mAh battery, surpassing not only the 4,805mAh in the original OnePlus Open but also the 4,650mAh battery of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, currently priced at $1,499 on Amazon. Additionally, leaks indicate that the OnePlus Open 2 will support wireless charging, a feature missing from the previous version.

There are unverified claims that OnePlus will debut the Open 2 in China in early Q1 2025, with a global rollout expected later in the same quarter. Like its predecessor, which was a modified version of the Oppo Find N3, the OnePlus Open 2 might also be released under the Oppo brand as the Find N5.

  • OnePlus Open 2 Specs Revealed: Snapdragon 8 Elite Foldable Phone

OnePlus Open 2 Specs Revealed: Snapdragon 8 Elite Foldable Phone

Zhou Yibao, who leads the Oppo Find series, has given a hint about the Find N5, which is likely to be known as the OnePlus Open 2 in markets outside of China. While the Oppo representative did not provide any concrete information regarding the foldable device, a trustworthy source, Digital Chat Station, has disclosed some potential specifications.

    Performance Specs

As anticipated, the OnePlus Open 2 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. According to Digital Chat Station, it might be the sole foldable phone featuring this advanced Qualcomm chipset in the first half of 2025. The source further claims that the new model will be lighter and slimmer than its predecessor, while also being more robust, which aligns with previous reports about upcoming foldable devices.

    New Features

Another significant feature of the foldable phone, according to Digital Chat Station, will be the inclusion of wireless charging. For those who may not know, the first generation OnePlus Open lacks this capability, and with the addition of wireless charging, the new foldable will have a better chance of competing with the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (currently, the 256 GB Z Fold 6 retails for $1,349 on Amazon).

    Enhancements Over Previous Model

The report from Digital Chat Station also indicates that the OnePlus Open 2 will boast an IPX8 water resistance rating. This would represent a substantial upgrade from the previous model, which had an IPX4 rating. Although the leaker did not provide extensive details about the camera, it was noted that the foldable will include a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens, which was absent in the last version.

Looking ahead to the launch, the Oppo Find N5 is anticipated to officially debut in China during the first quarter of 2025. The global release as the Open 2 is expected to follow shortly after the Chinese unveiling.

  • Oppo Find N5 Specs Leak: New Design, Magnetic Charging & More

Oppo Find N5 Specs Leak: New Design, Magnetic Charging & More

The excitement surrounding the Oppo Find N5 (and OnePlus Open 2) is quite significant, especially since Oppo opted not to release it this year. A leak from October indicated that it would debut in the first quarter of 2025, alongside the Find X8 Ultra. A recent report seems to confirm this timeline while offering additional technical insights into the next-generation Oppo foldable device.

    Design Improvements

A Weibo user known as Smart Pikachu mentioned that the Oppo Find N5 is set to be the leading foldable smartphone for at least the first half of 2025. Reports suggest that Oppo has made the Find N5 both slimmer and lighter. For comparison, the Find N3 measures 5.8 mm in thickness when unfolded and 11.7 mm when folded, with a weight of 245 g (or 239 g for the leather-back version). The question remains whether the Find N5 can surpass the Honor Magic V3’s impressive thickness of 4.4 mm when unfolded and 9.3 mm folded.

    Enhanced Durability

The source also noted that the Find N5 will feature a sturdier frame. Coupled with earlier reports of enhanced ingress protection, this indicates a better overall build quality. Currently, the Find X3/OnePlus Open retails for $1,299.99 on Amazon and has an IPX4 splash-resistant rating, which falls short when compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6‘s IPX8 water resistance.

    Wireless Charging Capabilities

Another exciting feature highlighted by the leaker is the inclusion of support for Oppo’s magnetic wireless charging ecosystem, similar to that of the Find X8 series. Additionally, it will be compatible with Apple’s MagSafe accessories. This is particularly noteworthy as the Find N3 lacks wireless charging capabilities. Finally, it’s confirmed that the upcoming foldable will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Most of the features mentioned for the Find N5 are likely to be included in the OnePlus Open 2, which is expected to be a rebranded or international variant of the Find N5, according to Smart Pikachu on Weibo.
