    A recent benchmark for Intel’s Core Ultra 7 255H processor has appeared online. From the data, Arrow Lake-H looks poised to significantly enhance single-threaded performance, though the multi-threaded performance appears to be a letdown, mainly because Intel has removed hyperthreading support.

    Impressive Single-Thread Performance

    The Passmark score reveals that the Core Ultra 7 255H achieved an outstanding single-thread score of 4631 points, marking a remarkable 32% increase compared to the Core Ultra 7 155H “Meteor Lake-H” CPU. The Arrow Lake-H series utilizes Lion Cove performance cores, which are showing their value, supported by TSMC’s N3B fabrication process. Interestingly, this benchmark positions the Core Ultra 7 255H approximately 17% ahead of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 “Strix Point” CPU. However, in terms of overall performance, the Arrow Lake-H model falls short, trailing the Strix Point by nearly 20%.

    Generational Improvements

    When compared to its previous model, the Core Ultra 7 255H exhibits about a 12% advantage in overall performance. While this is a respectable increase from generation to generation, it’s not nearly as striking as the gains seen in single-threaded performance. Additionally, the Arrow Lake-H chips are anticipated to feature integrated GPUs with up to eight Xe LPG+ cores, which will be less powerful than the Xe2 cores found in Lunar Lake processors. It’s important to note that synthetic benchmarks should be viewed cautiously, as actual performance can vary widely based on specific workloads.

    The Chinese manufacturer promotes the efficient cooling features of the FA3 mini PC. It has heat pipes and two fans inside, which help manage heat. Both the processor and SSD are actively cooled to avoid thermal throttling.

    Memory and Connectivity

    This mini PC can support up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM with speeds reaching 5,600 MHz. As usual, it comes with an M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe SSD. Regarding connectivity, the F3A mini PC provides HDMI 2.1, USB Type-C, and DisplayPort 2.0, all of which are capable of video output. Of course, the USB Type-C port is also useful for data transfer. While it doesn’t change much from the earlier versions, it does offer a lot more memory. Specifically, this model features 64GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Currently, this version is being sold for $1,029, while its regular price is set at $1,699. It’s uncertain if GMKtec will ever revert to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for this new mini PC.

    Specs and Design

    This mini computer has the dimensions of 110.19 x 107.3 x 63.2 millimeters and is driven by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which boasts 12 cores and an AI computing capacity of 50 TOPs. It comes equipped with an integrated AMD Radeon 890M graphics chip and supports external GPUs through OCuLink. There are two PCIe 4.0 slots designed for full-sized M.2 2280 modules, and external hard drives can be connected via USB 4. This same port can also transfer video, but the GMKtec Evo-X1 also includes HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1.

    Benchmarking Mini PC with AMD Radeon 890M in AAA Games

    AMD’s Strix Point has launched with laptops, and now mini PC makers are rolling out their Zen 5 models. Among the first to be revealed is the Beelink SER9, which marks its global introduction. This system is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, the highest option in the series.

    Performance of the APU

    The APU includes the Radeon 890M, which is approximately 18% quicker than the previous generation’s Radeon 780M. ETA Prime has evaluated the SER9 to assess the performance of the new RDNA 3.5 integrated GPU in a mini PC setup, and the results were quite promising.

    Game Benchmarks

    The first title tested by ETA Prime was Horizon Forbidden West. This demanding AAA game was played at 1080p with low graphics settings and frame generation enabled. The Radeon 890M achieved an average of about 70 FPS, whereas without frame generation, it dropped to around 47 FPS.

    Forza Horizon 5 was next, also at 1080p but with medium settings and no frame generation. Here, the Radeon 890M recorded an impressive average of 109 FPS, a noticeable upgrade from the 89 FPS average of the Radeon 780M under similar conditions.

    Another game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, was tested at 1080p with medium settings and without scaling. The RDNA 3.5 integrated GPU delivered an average of 56 FPS. Call of Duty MW3 was also benchmarked, achieving an average of 141 FPS while using a balanced preset and frame generation in balanced mode.

    Additional Game Tests

    Starfield was tested at 1080p with low settings, FSR, and frame generation enabled, where the Radeon 890M averaged 87 FPS. Lastly, Cyberpunk 2077 was played at 1080p with low settings and FSR set to auto, yielding an average of 90 FPS for the mini PC.

    In summary, the Strix Point mini PCs equipped with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 appear to be excellent for gaming. Additionally, it’s important to mention that during testing, the Beelink SER9 reached a maximum of 54W TDP. However, the mini PC is capable of going up to 65W, which might have enhanced the iGPU’s performance slightly.
