Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 & S25 Slim May Feature Snapdragon 8 Elite

Samsung is possibly looking to utilize a new budget-friendly version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which Qualcomm recently introduced quietly. This modified version of the high-end chipset could be the powerhouse behind the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy S25 Slim, and other upcoming devices. Here’s what we have gathered so far.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Galaxy S25 Slim with Snapdragon 8 Elite

When Qualcomm revealed the Snapdragon 8 Elite, it came with an SM8750-3-AB model number. This new processor is primarily designed for next-generation foldables or ultra-slim smartphones. The key distinction from the original version is that this new application processor (AP) has one fewer CPU core. Instead of the eight cores found in the original, this binned version is equipped with seven cores.

Among these cores, there are two prime cores operating at a 4.32GHz clock speed, complemented by five high-performance cores running at a frequency of 3.53GHz. This indicates that the seven-core chipset will be more affordable than its octa-core counterpart, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Therefore, manufacturers are likely to choose this variant for budget flagship models or new foldable devices. It is highly probable that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy S25 Slim will be equipped with this new chipset. Another possible candidate for this processor is the Galaxy Z Fold 7 SE.

Performance Expectations

For those who might not know, this is a binned variant of the chipset, meaning it may deliver slightly lower performance compared to the standard model. However, this also suggests that the seven-core Snapdragon 8 Elite could provide improved thermal management, a critical feature for foldable or ultra-thin smartphones. The Oppo Find N5 was recently observed on GeekBench utilizing this chipset, showing performance levels quite comparable to the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite. So, it seems you won’t be missing out on too much.
