  • Motorola Razr Fold Price Leak Suggests Weaker Chip Inside

Motorola Razr Fold Price Leak Suggests Weaker Chip Inside

    Key Takeaways

    1. Motorola has launched its first book-style foldable phone, the Razr Fold, to compete with Samsung and Google.
    2. Key specifications, including processor and RAM, are still undisclosed, but the starting price is expected to be $1,500 in the US.
    3. The Razr Fold will be the least expensive option compared to competitors like the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 8.
    4. Motorola may use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor instead of the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to keep costs down.
    5. Motorola smartphones often see significant discounts shortly after release, making it potentially beneficial to wait for a lower price after launch.

After six years of focusing on clamshell-style foldable smartphones, Motorola has finally introduced its first book-style foldable phone. The Razr Fold was unveiled at CES 2026 and aims to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series and Google’s Pixel Fold series.

    Key Details Still Missing

Despite the announcement, Motorola has not shared some crucial information, like the processor, RAM, storage, and price. Fortunately, a well-known leaker has disclosed the US pricing for the Razr Fold, indicating that it might utilize a less powerful processor than expected.

Evan Blass shared on X that Motorola’s latest foldable smartphone will be priced competitively, giving it an edge against competitors. According to his post, the starting price of the Motorola Razr Fold will be $1,500 in the US, which is noticeably lower than the starting prices of $1,799 for the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and $1,999 for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. Currently, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is discounted to $1,499 on Amazon.

    Facing Tough Competition

Motorola plans to launch its foldable smartphone this summer, putting it in direct competition with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. If we assume that these upcoming foldables keep the same starting prices as their predecessors, then Motorola’s Razr Fold will be the least expensive option. However, this lower cost may come at the cost of its performance.

To keep the price down, the Razr Fold might not feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which is set to power many flagship smartphones in 2026. Instead, Motorola may opt for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is also used in the new Motorola Signature, its latest non-folding flagship device.

    A Strategic Move

This choice isn’t surprising, as Motorola often chooses to equip its flagship phones with Qualcomm’s less powerful Snapdragon 8 series chipsets instead of the top-end models. It did catch us off guard last year, though, when the Razr 60 Ultra, also known as Razr Ultra (2025), was launched with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Nonetheless, the lower price could be a smart move to persuade buyers to choose the Razr Fold over other devices. Additionally, the other specifications seem quite impressive. It’s important to note that Motorola smartphones typically receive substantial discounts shortly after their release, so if you wait a few months after the Razr Fold launches, you might find it at an even more attractive price.

    2. The device features a metallic frame, rounded edges, and a brushed metal area for the camera, along with a centered punch hole for the front camera.

    3. The Razr Fold will support a stylus called the Moto Pen Ultra, which has a replaceable tip and a unique carrying/charging case.

    4. The smartphone will be available in two colors, likely inspired by Pantone shades, and will include a textured button for an AI assistant.

    5. The official reveal for the Razr Fold is scheduled for January 6, 2026, at the Lenovo Tech World event during CES.

A recent leak has shown multiple pictures of Motorola’s first foldable smartphone that opens like a book. This new device will be known as the Razr Fold and aims to compete with other devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Oppo Find N5, and Honor Magic V5, among others.

    Leak Details

The images were shared by Evan Blass and display the Razr Fold from different perspectives. Although technical specs are missing, the photos provide some key insights. The Motorola Razr Fold will come in two colors, although the exact names are not confirmed; they are likely inspired by Pantone shades. From what can be seen in the pictures, each color features distinct finishes.

    Design Features

The Motorola Razr Fold features a metallic frame, smooth rounded edges, and a brushed metal area for the camera on the back. There’s a centered punch hole for the front camera on the cover display, while the main screen has a punch hole located in the top right. On the back, there are three cameras, one of which is equipped with a periscope telephoto lens. The images also indicate that the Razr Fold includes a textured button alongside the standard power and volume buttons, which we believe is for the AI assistant found on the Razr 60 Ultra.

    Stylus Support

Notably, two of the leaked images reveal that the Motorola Razr Fold will support a stylus, a feature that Samsung has chosen to remove from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (currently priced at $1,669.99 on Amazon). The stylus appears to be used on the main display, suggesting it cannot be used on the cover display.

According to another leak from Evan Blass, the stylus is named the Moto Pen Ultra and features a replaceable tip, a side button, and a unique carrying/charging case. It’s unclear whether this stylus will be included with the Razr Fold or if it will need to be bought separately.

    Launch Information

According to a teaser from Motorola’s official account, the Razr Fold is set to be revealed at the Lenovo Tech World event on January 6 during CES 2026.

  • 3D-Printed Apple iPhone Fold vs iPhone 17 Pro Max & Oppo Find N5

3D-Printed Apple iPhone Fold vs iPhone 17 Pro Max & Oppo Find N5

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Apple iPhone Fold is expected to feature a smaller 5.3-inch secondary screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, differing from competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

    2. A 3D model of the iPhone Fold shows it has a 7.7-inch main screen, appearing wider but shorter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max when folded.

    3. Users may need both hands to operate the iPhone Fold effectively when it is unfolded, providing more usable screen area than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

    4. The Oppo Find N2 and Oppo Find N5 are key competitors, with the Find N2 having a smaller secondary display and the Find N5 offering a larger main display.

    5. The official reveal of the iPhone Fold is anticipated for September 2026, and current rumors should be viewed with caution.

Several speculations have suggested that the Apple iPhone Fold might come with a rather unique design. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (starting at $1,599 on Amazon), which is about the size of a regular smartphone when closed, Apple is anticipated to have a notably smaller 5.3-inch secondary screen with a broad 3:2 aspect ratio.

    3D Model Creation

Ben Geskin has utilized a 3D printer to make a dummy model of the iPhone Fold, featuring a 5.3-inch secondary display alongside a 7.7-inch main screen, just as the latest rumors indicate. A direct comparison with the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max reveals that the iPhone Fold appears to be a bit wider but also much shorter when it’s folded. From the pictures, it seems challenging to reach all areas of the screen using just one hand.

    User Experience When Unfolded

When opened, it’s likely that users will need both hands to effectively operate the iPhone Fold. As the comparison illustrates, the unfolded iPhone Fold provides considerably more display space than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Because of its aspect ratio, the difference in usable area is even larger than what would be expected from a jump from 6.9 inches to 7.7 inches.

    Competing Models

The Oppo Find N2 is the closest competitor to the iPhone Fold, featuring a 5.54-inch secondary display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 7.1-inch main display, but it offers noticeably less screen area when unfolded. On the other hand, the Oppo Find N5 boasts a 6.62-inch secondary display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and an 8.12-inch main display, which aligns more with the current foldable trend and looks quite massive compared to the iPhone Fold dummy.

The official reveal of the Apple iPhone Fold is predicted to happen in September 2026. As always, it’s best to approach rumors with skepticism until then, as Apple’s intentions could still change.

  • Samsung Captures 64% of Global Foldable Market as Shipments Rise

Samsung Captures 64% of Global Foldable Market as Shipments Rise

    Key Takeaways

    1. Foldable smartphones represented 2.5% of all smartphone shipments, with strong growth driven by book-style models like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7.

    2. Samsung’s foldable segment grew by 32% year-on-year, regaining market share and holding a dominant 64% of the foldable market.

    3. Huawei and Vivo reported positive growth, with Huawei achieving a 10% increase and Vivo seeing a 67% rise in foldable shipments.

    4. Xiaomi and Honor faced significant declines in foldable sales, with Xiaomi’s shipments dropping by 54% and Honor’s by 31%.

    5. Future growth in the foldable market is anticipated, especially if Apple releases a folding phone, while Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to have limited shipping volumes.

Foldables saw a rise in popularity among consumers during the quarter, representing 2.5 percent of all smartphone shipments. This growth was primarily driven by book-style models, with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 performing better than Counterpoint anticipated.

    Samsung’s Growth Surge

Samsung’s foldable segment experienced a 32 percent increase compared to last year. This marked a notable rebound from the prior quarter when it lost nearly half of its market share to a surge from Motorola. The South Korean giant dominated the foldable market with around 64 percent share, largely due to the success of its latest Galaxy Z-series devices.

    Rivals’ Performance

The third quarter of 2025 was a mixed result for Samsung’s competitors. Huawei managed to stay in second place, benefiting from steady demand for the Mate series, which led to a commendable 10 percent growth year-on-year. Vivo also saw a significant 67 percent increase in foldable shipments.

Motorola continued its momentum from Q2, with its clamshell Razr 60 series contributing to a 16 percent growth compared to last year.

    Challenges for Other Brands

In contrast, Xiaomi faced a dramatic decline, with shipments dropping by 54 percent year on year. Another Chinese competitor, Honor, also experienced a 31 percent decrease in foldable sales.

Counterpoint predicts that growth in the foldable market will pick up pace in 2026. The research firm believes that if Apple releases its rumored folding phone, it could significantly boost the premium segment. Additionally, they forecast that Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy Z TriFold will have limited shipping volumes.

    Key Takeaways

    1. Foldable devices, especially larger tablet models like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, are popular for their flexible screens that enhance multitasking.
    2. Huawei’s Mate XT has set a high standard in foldable design, with a compact 10.2-inch display featuring an almost 16:9 aspect ratio.
    3. Samsung is launching a new tri-fold tablet design that folds inward twice, with an anticipated reveal at an international conference.
    4. The Galaxy tri-fold is confirmed for release in the UAE, with potential plans for the US and other regions.
    5. Expected features include three built-in batteries, a triple-camera system with a 200 MP main sensor, a 10-inch OLED display, a 6.5-inch cover display, and wireless charging support.

Foldable devices have become essential for many users, especially larger tablet-like models like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. These gadgets provide great value thanks to their flexible 8-inch screens, perfect for multitasking. Nevertheless, their shape isn’t the best for watching videos, as they tend to be too square. Last year, Huawei set a benchmark with the Mate XT, and they have done it again this year, offering a compact 10.2-inch tablet display with an almost 16:9 aspect ratio.

    Samsung’s New Approach

Samsung is preparing to introduce its first competitor in this space, featuring a unique design that folds inward twice rather than the usual inward and outward style. Previous reports suggested that the initial version of this Samsung tri-fold, likely powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, would be limited to a launch in China and South Korea. However, it is now anticipated to be officially revealed at an international conference later this month. According to recent updates from SamMobile, Samsung appears to be expanding the availability of this tablet, potentially named Galaxy G Fold or Galaxy Z TriFold.

    Availability and Features

As it stands, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is confirmed as one of the countries where the Galaxy tri-fold will be available. There might be plans to launch it in the US and other locations, although those haven’t been officially confirmed yet. Leaks from the last few months have hinted at some impressive features, including three built-in batteries, a triple-camera system with a 200 MP main sensor and up to 100x digital zoom, a 10-inch OLED display inside, and a cover display measuring around 6.5 inches. Additionally, the device will support wireless charging.

  • Samsung Mocks Apple in New Galaxy Z Fold 7 Promo Video

Samsung Mocks Apple in New Galaxy Z Fold 7 Promo Video

    Key Takeaways

    1. Samsung’s advertising campaign targets Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 release to showcase its foldable smartphones’ unique features.
    2. A humorous promotional video highlights the advantages of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, demonstrating its ability to stand upright and play two videos simultaneously.
    3. Samsung positions its Fold and Flip models as highly versatile, emphasizing their advanced hinges, sleek design, and unique software features like Flex Mode.
    4. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, while expensive, reflects Samsung’s ongoing advancements in the foldable phone market, while Apple has yet to release a foldable device.
    5. The ad reinforces that foldable smartphones offer practical daily use features that traditional smartphones do not, fueling competition and innovation between Samsung and Apple.

Samsung has kicked off another bold advertising initiative, specifically targeting Apple. The tech giant is using the upcoming release of the Apple iPhone 17 series as a backdrop to showcase the distinct features of its foldable smartphones, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

    Attention-Grabbing Promotion

Recently, Samsung shared a brief promotional video on X (previously known as Twitter), generating significant buzz before Apple’s event on September 9. The message is straightforward: Samsung’s foldable phones provide more than traditional smartphones can.

    A Humorous Message

The thirty-second video shows a typical scenario where an iPhone user sets his device on a table to enjoy a video. Unfortunately, his cat keeps knocking the Apple iPhone off the table. The twist comes when a friend places a Galaxy Z Fold 7 on the same table, and its ability to fold allows it to stand upright. Additionally, the screen divides into two parts, enabling two videos to play at once. An animation on the screen then asks the intriguing question: Can your phone do that?

    Highlighting Versatility

Through this campaign, Samsung aims to position its Fold and Flip models as exceptionally adaptable. These devices come equipped with advanced hinges, a sleeker design, and unique software features like Flex Mode, which lets them be positioned at various angles. The Galaxy AI tools are also crafted to simplify daily tasks and introduce new ways to use the devices. While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a high-end product with a hefty price, it reflects the steady advancements Samsung has made in the foldable phone market over time. Meanwhile, Apple has yet to unveil its own foldable smartphone.

There’s speculation that Apple may be developing a foldable device, with a possible launch not happening until 2026 at the earliest. For now, Samsung is leveraging its technological edge. The ad is cleverly constructed but delivers a clear point: Foldable smartphones are now practical for daily use and provide features that traditional smartphones fail to offer. Thus, the competition between Samsung and Apple continues to drive innovation forward.

    Color Options and Dimensions

The Magic V5 comes in various colors including Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. Notably, the Ivory White version is only 8.8 mm thick when folded, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a measurement of 8.9 mm when it is not unfolded.

    Performance and Camera Features

Despite its slender design, Honor asserts that the Magic V5 does not skimp on performance or camera capabilities. For performance, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm’s leading SoC at this time.

In terms of photography, the Magic V5 features a 50 MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), along with a 50 MP ultrawide camera and a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. • Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold: 10x Zoom and IP68 Certification Leak

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold: 10x Zoom and IP68 Certification Leak

    Key Takeaways

    1. Thickness and Design: The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is thicker at 10.8 mm when folded, prioritizing durability over thinness compared to competitors like the Honor Magic V5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

    2. Durability Features: It boasts IP68 certification, offering superior dust and water resistance, making it suitable for various environments, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s IP48 rating.

    3. Camera Upgrades: The device features enhanced camera capabilities, including a 5x telephoto lens that supports “10x optical zoom” through sensor cropping or Super Res Zoom technology.

    4. Battery Improvements: The battery capacity has increased from 4,650 mAh to 5,015 mAh, with 30W fast charging and magnetic 15W Qi2 charging called “Pixelsnap.”

    5. Market Release and Pricing: The Pixel 10 Pro Fold may have a delayed market release and is expected to be priced similarly to last year’s models.

The foldable phone market is buzzing with a single question: Which smartphone is the thinnest? However, Google is taking a different approach with its new Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This device is not trying to compete in the thinness race against the likes of the Honor Magic V5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. With a thickness of 10.8 mm when folded, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is actually a bit chunkier, but it brings a significant feature: IP68 certification.

    Durability Matters

As the first foldable smartphone in the world, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers excellent dust and water resistance, comparable to traditional smartphones. This means that taking it to the beach or a construction site won’t likely damage it. This is a big improvement over the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which only has an IP48 rating, protecting it from dirt particles of 1 mm or larger. The Honor Magic V5 and Vivo X Fold 5 sit between these two with their IP58 ratings. While Google hasn’t officially confirmed the IP68 status for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, an official data sheet from Google has provided confirmation.

    Specifications and Upgrades

The specifications (see below) are quite similar to what was seen in 2024. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold runs on the Tensor G5 and features upgrades in its camera system. Although the hardware hasn’t changed, the 5x telephoto camera is said to support “10x optical zoom.” This likely means a sensor crop or Google’s Super Res Zoom technology, as the telephoto lens itself still maintains a 5x zoom. Moreover, the battery capacity has seen a boost from 4,650 mAh to 5,015 mAh, with 30W fast charging and magnetic 15W Qi2 charging branded as “Pixelsnap.” Unlike its counterparts, the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might not hit the market until much later, and the pricing is expected to stay in line with last year’s model.

    2. Honor’s Magic V5 will be officially launched in China on July 2, 2025, with a global version likely debuting at IFA 2025 in Berlin.
    3. The Magic V5 is rumored to have a 6,000 mAh battery and an increased charging speed of 80 watts.
    4. There is uncertainty about potential improvements in the phone’s thickness and camera capabilities.
    5. Vivo’s X Fold 5 will continue to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, while Samsung aims to match the thickness of its devices with Chinese competitors.

Even before Samsung officially reveals the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is anticipated in mid-July, other companies are preparing to introduce their own foldable alternatives, especially in China. Following Vivo’s announcement of the Vivo X Fold 5 release date, Honor also shared news on June 18, 2025. A teaser poster on Weibo indicates that the Honor Magic V5, the successor to the Magic V3 (which you can find on Amazon), will officially be launched in China on July 2, 2025, with a global version likely debuting in September at IFA 2025 in Berlin.

    Specs and Features

Although Honor has not yet revealed any official design or specifications for the Magic V5, early leaks and certifications hint at an impressive feature: battery life. Reports indicate that the new Honor foldable will include a 6,000 mAh battery, a considerable upgrade from the 5,150 mAh battery found in the Magic V3. Additionally, the maximum charging speed might see an increase to 80 watts.

    Future Possibilities

It is still unclear if Honor will manage to further reduce the thickness of the phone or enhance its camera capabilities. There is a noticeable absence of trustworthy information regarding the chipset being used. Meanwhile, the Vivo X Fold 5 continues to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for another year instead of opting for the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, though it will come with plenty of other enhancements. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is projected to be launched in mid-July, aiming to be a more attractive option compared to its predecessors from previous years. Notably, Samsung seems to be working to match the thickness of its devices with those of its Chinese rivals.
