After six years of focusing on clamshell-style foldable smartphones, Motorola has finally introduced its first book-style foldable phone. The Razr Fold was unveiled at CES 2026 and aims to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series and Google’s Pixel Fold series.

Despite the announcement, Motorola has not shared some crucial information, like the processor, RAM, storage, and price. Fortunately, a well-known leaker has disclosed the US pricing for the Razr Fold, indicating that it might utilize a less powerful processor than expected.
Evan Blass shared on X that Motorola’s latest foldable smartphone will be priced competitively, giving it an edge against competitors. According to his post, the starting price of the Motorola Razr Fold will be $1,500 in the US, which is noticeably lower than the starting prices of $1,799 for the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and $1,999 for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. Currently, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is discounted to $1,499 on Amazon.
Facing Tough Competition
Motorola plans to launch its foldable smartphone this summer, putting it in direct competition with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. If we assume that these upcoming foldables keep the same starting prices as their predecessors, then Motorola’s Razr Fold will be the least expensive option. However, this lower cost may come at the cost of its performance.
To keep the price down, the Razr Fold might not feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which is set to power many flagship smartphones in 2026. Instead, Motorola may opt for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is also used in the new Motorola Signature, its latest non-folding flagship device.

It did catch us off guard last year, though, when the Razr 60 Ultra, also known as Razr Ultra (2025), was launched with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Nonetheless, the lower price could be a smart move to persuade buyers to choose the Razr Fold over other devices. Additionally, the other specifications seem quite impressive. It’s important to note that Motorola smartphones typically receive substantial discounts shortly after their release, so if you wait a few months after the Razr Fold launches, you might find it at an even more attractive price.
