Samsung Galaxy M55 5G: Initial Impressions and Review

Samsung's Galaxy M55 5G recently made an entrance into India alongside their Galaxy M15 phone, catering to those searching for 5G phones under Rs 13,000. Meanwhile, M55 5G competes against phones priced from Rs 25000-30000 and here I will offer my initial impressions of it.

Design And Display

The Galaxy M55 5G boasts an elegant polycarbonate build measuring only 7.8mm thin and weighing 180 grams. Available as Denim Blue edition with color shift effect ranging from deep blue to almost black hue, its matte back panel adds an air of sophistication.

The device features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits to provide easy visibility even under harsh sunlight conditions. FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate also contribute to an enjoyable viewing experience, although stereo speakers would have made for more realistic sound reproduction - though dual speaker setup is included onboard for optimal audio experience.

Performance And Software

Equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, Samsung promises that their Galaxy M55 5G offers performance comparable to that of Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. I tested one which featured 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage; four major OS updates as well as five years worth of security updates will be provided over five years for Android 14.0.1 with One UI 6.1 installed as standard on this smartphone.

The M55 does not come equipped with its own charger but does support 45W fast charging for its 5,000mAh battery, offering seamless performance when browsing social media, streaming music or editing images. It provides a responsive experience whether browsing social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook or editing photos and editing your photo library.

Cameras And Other Features Available on Our Products

The Galaxy M55 5G boasts two 50-megapixel cameras on either end, including an OIS equipped 50MP + 8MP ultrawide + 2-MP macro setup on its rear that offers flexibility in daily photography use - OIS support, Nightography tools and AI driven tools are also included in its photography features. Other key components include an adjustable vibration motor intensity setting as well as in-screen fingerprint reader - unfortunately however there's no 3.5 mm audio jack available!

The Galaxy M55 5G is currently available in India in three variants - 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB, each costing Rs 26,999.99 to Rs 32,999 with discounts available through bank cards or exchange offers for buyers. Competitors in its price range offer similar features and performance; buyers are therefore likely to save with one of these devices over another option available to them.

Starting at Rs 26,999, the Galaxy M55 5G stands out in the mid-range smartphone market as an attractive proposition. Though faced with stiff competition from rival devices, my initial impressions of it are positive.
