Nearly three months after the Galaxy A16 5G's debut, Samsung has revealed that this entry-level Galaxy A-series smartphone will be available for purchase in the United States, starting January 9. The Galaxy A16 5G launches alongside the Galaxy Fit 3 fitness tracker.
Display and Processor
The Galaxy A16 5G features a 6.17-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen, complete with a notch for the 13MP front-facing camera. The display boasts a refresh rate of 90Hz and can reach a peak brightness of 800 nits. Under the hood, it houses an Exynos 1330 processor, while the model sold in Nigeria uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor. Although Samsung hasn't disclosed the exact RAM and storage specs, it is expected that the base variant will come with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, considering its starting price.
Camera and Battery
Equipped with triple rear cameras, the Galaxy A16 5G includes a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro lens. It also packs a 5,000mAh battery, supports 25W fast wired charging, features a fingerprint sensor, and offers IP54 dust and splash resistance, along with NFC capabilities. Unfortunately, it does not have the audio jack found in the Galaxy A15 5G (which is available on Amazon for $192.44). The device runs Android 14 out of the box and is set to receive 6 Android OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches.
Additional Perks
Samsung is adding some exciting bonuses for the Galaxy A16 5G in the US market. Besides offering Samsung TV Plus, which gives users access to over 350 live TV channels and thousands of shows and movies, the phone also includes a complimentary 2-month subscription to YouTube Premium and a 3-month subscription to Peacock.
The Galaxy A16 5G will come with a starting price of $199.99 and will be offered in Blue Black and Light Gray colors. Additionally, Samsung is providing a 50% discount on the Galaxy Fit 3 if you buy it alongside the Galaxy A16 5G from its website.
