Asus to Unveil ROG Phone 8 Series on Jan. 8 and Jan. 16
Asus has officially announced that it will be launching the ROG Phone 8 series of gaming phones on January 8. However, in China, the brand will unveil the lineup on January 16. Prior to the official launch, WindowsReport has leaked renders and full specifications of the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro. Let’s take a closer look at what these smartphones have to offer.
Redesigned Design for the ROG Phone 8 Series
Leaked renders of the upcoming ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro reveal a significant departure from the traditional design of their predecessors. The front of the phones now features a modern punch-hole display, while the back showcases a prominent camera module in the top-right corner. Additionally, the back panel includes an RGB-lit logo and gaming mottos. According to the report, the ROG Phone 8 will have a matte finish on the back, while the Pro variant will sport a glossy rear design.
Specifications of the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro
According to the leaked report, both the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2500 nits. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, these devices will be equipped with a 5,500mAh battery that supports 65W charging, as per the 3C certification. Other notable features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 5-magnet speaker.
In terms of connectivity, the ROG Phone 8 series will offer Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. Both models will run on Android 14 with the ROG UI. Additionally, they will have Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and an IP68 rating for durability.
The standard ROG Phone 8 will come with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. On the other hand, the ROG Phone 8 Pro will provide users with a choice between 16GB or 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Pro variant will feature a 32-megapixel selfie camera and a rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Unfortunately, there is no information available about the cameras or dimensions of the standard model at this time.
Accessories for the ROG Phone 8 Series
Apart from the phones themselves, the ROG Phone 8 series will include an Aero Case and fast charger in the box. Asus will also offer gaming-focused accessories such as the DEVILCASE Guardian phone case, which supports the AeroActive Cooler X, as shown in the leaked image.
