Honor recently showcased its latest innovation in consumer electronics at the IFA Berlin. A standout from this event is the Magic V3, touted as the thinnest foldable smartphone globally, featuring high-end specifications and features. Here's a detailed look at what the Magic V3 has to offer.
Honor Magic V3: Design & Display
The Magic V3's design is Honor's most significant advancement. The brand took a playful dig at Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 12.1mm thick, while the Magic V3 boasts a slim profile of just 9.2mm, making it nearly 3mm thinner—a considerable difference for flagship devices. Weighing only 226 grams, the phone is also designed to endure up to 500,000 fold cycles. The rear of the device is adorned with an octagonal camera island, and its sides are framed with 7 Series aluminum alloy.
The Magic V3 features a 6.43-inch OLED external display with curved edges and FHD+ resolution. The main display is a 7.92-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2,344 x 2,156 pixels. Both displays support a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and stylus input, with a peak brightness reaching 5,000 nits.
Hardware
Internally, the Honor Magic V3 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It houses a 5,150mAh battery that supports 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. The device runs MagicOS 8, based on Android 14 OS, straight out of the box. It also includes AI capabilities, parallel space, and smart private call features.
Camera
The Magic V3 is equipped with Honor’s Falcon Camera system, comprising a 50MP main sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), a 40MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens that supports 100x digital zoom alongside OIS. For selfies and video calls, there are 20MP cameras on both the internal and external screens.
Pricing and Availability
Honor has introduced the Magic V3 in three color variants: Reddish Brown, Black, and Green. The foldable smartphone is priced at €1,999 in Europe.
