Gigabyte Metal Gear Plus ITX Mini PC Ryzen 7 8700G Launch

Gigabyte recently introduced the Metal Gear Plus ITX, a mini PC that stands out with its utilization of AMD Ryzen 8000G series desktop APUs, delivering enhanced performance when compared to typical mini PCs that rely on mobile processors. This particular model aims to combine the compact nature of mini PCs with the robust capabilities found in desktop computers.

Performance Boost with AMD Ryzen APUs

The Metal Gear Plus ITX, although slightly larger due to its aluminum build, occupies just 3 liters of space, offering a balance between size and functionality. Equipped with the AORUS B650I ITX motherboard, it supports the latest DDR5 RAM, enabling users to upgrade components akin to a full-size desktop. Users can select from three APU options: Ryzen 5 8500G, Ryzen 5 8600G, and Ryzen 7 8700G.

Innovative Design Choices

One notable design decision by Gigabyte is the exclusion of an internal power supply unit (PSU). Instead, the mini PC relies on an external power source, a move that aids in managing the energy requirements of its potent 65W desktop processors.

Pricing and Variants

Presently available in China, the Metal Gear Plus ITX is offered in three configurations. The base model includes a Ryzen 5 8500G processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD, priced at CNY 4,499 (approximately $633). Additionally, there are two higher-tier options, with the top-tier variant featuring a Ryzen 7 8700G, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD, priced around CNY 4,799 (roughly $831). Information regarding global availability and pricing for the Gigabyte Metal Gear Plus ITX is yet to be disclosed.
