Galaxy Z Flip FE Expected to Launch in 2025

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which comes with a sleeker look and a higher cost compared to the Z Fold 6. However, there are now whispers that the company is planning to create a more budget-friendly device for those interested in a foldable with a hinge. Industry insider Ross Young has indicated that the Galaxy Z Flip FE, a more affordable foldable phone, is likely to be released in 2025.

A Budget-Friendly Flip Phone on the Horizon?

After much talk about a cheaper foldable smartphone, it appears Samsung is finally taking steps to make this a reality. The anticipated device is said to share the same display as the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7, but it might save money by incorporating a lower-end camera and an older processor. Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip FE, Samsung is reportedly not considering creating a budget variant of its larger Galaxy Z Fold series, focusing instead on reducing costs only within its compact foldable range.

Speculation on Hardware and Chipsets

There is growing curiosity about the chipset for the Galaxy Z Flip FE. A report from Sammobile indicates that Samsung might use either the Exynos 2400 or Exynos 2400e (both of which are found in the S24 FE) to power the phone. These chips could be considered outdated by the time it launches. However, there’s a chance that the device could arrive with the Exynos 2500, assuming Samsung Foundry overcomes current yield rate issues with its 3nm process node.

The Exynos 2500 is thought to be a high-performance processor that was initially meant for the Galaxy S25 series. Due to current production hurdles, its inclusion in the S25 lineup is uncertain, making it a viable option for the Z Flip FE.

A Potential Breakthrough for Foldables

Should the Galaxy Z Flip FE indeed come to fruition, it could represent a significant advancement for foldable phones, making them accessible to a wider range of consumers. Although specific pricing and specifications are not yet clear, the phone is anticipated to offer a mix of affordability and Samsung’s trusted brand quality.

Interestingly, Motorola has quietly launched an affordable flip phone named the Motorola Razr 50s in Japan this September. This phone features the Dimensity 7300X chip and is priced at approximately JPY 115,200 (~$800).
