OnePlus Ace 3: A More Affordable Option with Impressive Features
OnePlus is gearing up for another smartphone launch in China, set to take place on January 4. The OnePlus Ace 3, a more affordable alternative to the flagship OnePlus 12, promises to deliver impressive features. While the global release is scheduled for January 23, let's take a look at what we know about the OnePlus Ace 3 so far.
Design & Display
The OnePlus Ace 3 will bear a striking resemblance to the OnePlus 12, featuring similar watch-style carvings on the circular camera module. The device will sport a curved 6.78-inch screen with a clear 1.5K resolution, 4500 nits peak brightness, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It will also come with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and a 'rain touch' feature for easy use with wet hands. Additionally, the device will feature a thin fingerprint scanner and minimal bezels, measuring 163.30 x 75.27 x 8.8mm and weighing 207 grams.
Specs & Performance
Under the hood, the OnePlus Ace 3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, accompanied by up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of USF 4.0 storage. The smartphone has already made appearances on both Geekbench and AnTuTu, boasting impressive performance metrics. On Geekbench, it scored 1723 points on the single-core test and 5164 points on the multi-core test. Meanwhile, the AnTuTu results exceeded 2 million points, with a score of 2,110,808.
Power and Software
The OnePlus Ace 3 will support 100W fast charging, ensuring quick power-ups. On the software front, the phone will operate on ColorOS 14, based on Android 14, promising users three major updates. This means continuous access to new Android versions up to Android 17, along with ongoing bug fixes and security updates for four years. The device will also come with a super linear stereo dual speaker unit and support Dolby Atmos audio technology for high-quality sound. In terms of connectivity, it will feature a 360-degree antenna for better signal coverage, Wi-Fi7 support, and multi-directional NFC. Additionally, it will include L1 and L5 dual frequency GPS for enhanced accuracy and the B1I + B1C + B2a three-band Beidou system.
Camera Capabilities
While the OnePlus Ace 3 may have dropped its alleged plans for a 32-megapixel telephoto camera, its camera setup still offers impressive capabilities. The device will feature a 50-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.56-inch IMX890 sensor and OIS stabilization. Additionally, it will come with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel macro camera. OnePlus has even shared some camera samples showcasing the Ace 3's normal, portrait, and ultra-wide modes.
