  • Realme’s 300W Charging Tech Leaked: 0-17% in Just 35 Seconds

Realme’s 300W Charging Tech Leaked: 0-17% in Just 35 Seconds

Realme is gearing up to introduce its latest wired charging technology on August 14th at an event in China. At this event, the company will showcase its 300W fast charging tech, which has been the subject of rumors for some time.

    Charging Speed Demonstration

Ahead of the official announcement, a video has surfaced online demonstrating the technology in action. In the clip, the phone charges from 0% to 15% in just 32 seconds. The charge level then jumps to 17% within the next 3 seconds. Although the video stops without revealing the battery capacity of the phone used, this brief demonstration highlights the potential of the upcoming charging technology.

    Comparison with Competitors

It’s worth noting that Realme isn’t the first brand to achieve such rapid charging speeds. The honor goes to Redmi, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, which demoed a 300W solution last year. Their technology charged a Redmi Note 12 with a 4100mAh battery from 0% to 100% in just 5 minutes. However, this technology has yet to be implemented in any consumer-level device.

The hope is that Realme will be the first to bring 300W charging to commercially available smartphones. In fact, Realme might be better positioned to achieve this milestone. Their current lineup includes phones with 240W charging support, making the leap to 300W more manageable. In contrast, Redmi’s flagship models currently top out at 120W.

    Future Prospects

Some may question the necessity of such rapid charging speeds, but having experienced Realme’s 240W fast charging on the GT Neo 5, the convenience of quickly powered-up devices is undeniable. Additionally, leaks suggest that Realme may unveil a charging solution even faster than 300W to outpace Redmi and claim the title of the world’s fastest charging technology. With the official reveal just days away, more details will soon be available.

  • iPhone 16 Series Now in Mass Production

iPhone 16 Series Now in Mass Production

Apple is anticipated to unveil the iPhone 16 series in early September, potentially on September 10. Foxconn has commenced the mass production of these devices. According to a report, one of Foxconn’s factories in China has begun large-scale recruitment to boost its production capacity.

Foxconn, a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturer, has long been responsible for producing iPhones and other Apple devices through outsourcing.

    Increased Shipment Target

Apple is reportedly very optimistic about the iPhone 16 series’ shipment volume. The shipment target has been raised by over 10% compared to the iPhone 15 series, aiming for more than 90 million units. Components for the iPhone 16 series entered mass production early to ensure a smooth assembly process. Display panels, in particular, started mass production in June to meet the September launch timeline. Samsung Display and LG Display are manufacturing OLED displays for the iPhone 16 series. By the end of 2024, Samsung and LG are expected to supply Apple with around 80 million and 43 million panels, respectively.

    Design Enhancements

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 16 series will feature even thinner bezels than last year’s models. The Pro models are speculated to have larger displays compared to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Specifically, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to come with 6.3″ (upgraded from 6.1″) and 6.9″ (upgraded from 6.7″) panels, respectively. However, the non-pro models are expected to retain the 6.1″ and 6.7″ sizes, similar to the non-pro iPhone 15 models.

  • Redmi Turbo 4 Leak: Launch Expected in 2025

Redmi Turbo 4 Leak: Launch Expected in 2025

A few months after the introduction of the Redmi Turbo 3, Xiaomi has officially begun development on the Redmi Turbo 4. The POCO F7 is anticipated to be a rebranded variant of the Redmi Turbo 4, indicating that both devices will share identical specifications. The Redmi Turbo 4 is slated for an official release in Q2 2025, which is still 8-9 months away. Recently, XiaomiTime spotted the POCO F7, and now, Gizmochina has identified the Redmi Turbo 4 in the IMEI database.

What to Expect from Redmi Turbo 4?

Based on the IMEI database, the Redmi Turbo 4 will carry the model number “2412DRT0AC“. The final letter “C” in the model number signifies that this smartphone will be exclusive to the Chinese market. However, the Redmi Turbo 4 will indeed reach the global market under the rebranded name POCO F7. The POCO F7 series is set to be officially launched in May 2025.

The POCO F7 will have two model numbers: “2412DPC0AG” and “2412DPC0AI“. The “G” at the end of the first model number denotes the global market version, while the “I” at the end of the second model number signifies the Indian market version.

    Launch Timeline and Specifications

These phones are still a considerable time away from their unveiling. The Redmi Turbo 4 is expected to be launched by April 2025 at the earliest, and the POCO F7 is projected to follow in May 2025. This timeline is due to the recent releases of the POCO F6 and Redmi Turbo 3 just a few months prior.

Both smartphones are anticipated to debut with the latest Qualcomm processor. The Redmi Turbo 4 might feature the Snapdragon 8S Gen 4, although specific details about the processor are currently unavailable. Enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to see what these two devices will bring to the table.

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Leak: Display, Camera, Processor

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE Leak: Display, Camera, Processor

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE has been extensively leaked, showcasing its official design and specifications.

The phone’s appearance closely mirrors other models in the Galaxy S24 series, offering no major design changes. However, Samsung has opted for a larger display in this FE generation compared to its predecessor.

    Display and Brightness

The Galaxy S24 FE will boast a 6.7-inch screen, an upgrade from the 6.4-inch display seen on the Galaxy S23 FE. The brightness level has been enhanced from 1450 nits to 1900 nits, while maintaining a 120Hz refresh rate.

With the increase in screen size, the dimensions of the phone are expected to change. Despite this, Samsung has not made significant enhancements to the battery. The S24 FE will feature a 4565mAh battery, a minor improvement over the 4500mAh battery of its predecessor.

Battery life is projected at 29 hours for video playback and 78 hours for audio. However, actual performance will vary based on real-world use.

    Performance and Features

The leak also highlights that the phone will be powered by an Exynos 2400e chipset, a variant of the flagship processor. As a 2024 model, it will naturally be equipped with AI functionalities. The S24 FE is expected to provide features such as Portrait Studio, Circle to Search, and Generative Edit.

    Camera Setup

The camera system remains consistent with a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom. While Samsung has improved its camera processing recently, the photographic performance of the S24 FE will be a key aspect in evaluating its overall value.

Currently, there is no pricing information available for the Galaxy S24 FE. Given that the S23 FE is priced at $599, it is likely that the S24 FE will see a price increase due to its larger display and new chipset.

  • Android 13 Update Released for Motorola Edge 20 Fusion

Android 13 Update Released for Motorola Edge 20 Fusion

Motorola has finally rolled out the Android 13 update for its Edge 20 Fusion smartphone, arriving much later than many of its rivals. The update, which is 1.64GB in size, introduces features such as app customization, an improved media player, and detailed notification controls.

Motorola Android 13 Update: What’s New

After the update, you’ll observe several enhancements to the Android system and apps. The personalization options have been broadened, allowing further phone customization. You can now style app icons to match your wallpaper by touching and holding a blank space on your home screen and choosing "Personalize."

The Moto Widget on your home screen has been upgraded. The new expandable Adapt version lets you add and view more information. To revert to the old version or select a different one, drag the current widget to the top of the screen and drop it on "Remove." Then, touch and hold the home screen, go to "Widgets," select "Moto Widget," and drag the version you want to your home screen.

    Settings and Gestures Updates

Settings changes include the ability to set supported apps to use a language different from your phone’s default. You also gain more control over notifications and privacy, with options to adjust notification permissions and limit photo and video sharing on a per-app basis.

The Gestures menu has been relocated to Settings > Gestures from its previous position under Settings > System > Gestures, making it easier to turn gestures on or off. These updates offer enhanced control and customization options.

    A Slow Pace of Updates

While this update is a welcome development for Edge 20 Fusion users, it underscores Motorola’s slow pace in rolling out software updates. Other manufacturers are already testing Android 15 betas, making Motorola’s approach seem lethargic. It is also likely that this will be the last update the Edge 20 Fusion will receive, given that it was launched in 2021 with Android 11 onboard.

Moreover, it is confirmed that the device will also be launched in European markets.

    Honor Magic V3 Specifications

The Chinese version of the Honor Magic V3 features a 6.43-inch main display with curved edges and FHD+ resolution, alongside a 7.92-inch internal display with a resolution of 2,344 x 2,156 pixels. Both screens support a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and are stylus-compatible. The peak brightness is 5,000 nits, although it’s unclear if this applies to both displays. • Samsung Galaxy S24 Now Rs 55,999 on Amazon India with Bank Discounts

Samsung Galaxy S24 Now Rs 55,999 on Amazon India with Bank Discounts

Samsung has introduced a special Independence Day offer on its Galaxy S24 smartphone, cutting the price from Rs 74,999 to Rs 62,999. This limited-time discount is available across Samsung.com, exclusive stores, and major online and offline retailers. But with other deals in the market, is this the best option? Here’s what you need to know.

    Price Drop Details

The Rs 12,000 discount on the Galaxy S24 is a significant reduction, aimed at attracting buyers during the Independence Day period. However, it’s important to note that Amazon India is offering the same model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage for Rs 55,990 in Amber Yellow and Marble Gray. If the color isn’t a concern, this deal could be more economical. SBI credit card users can save another Rs 1,000 on the purchase.

What You Get with the Galaxy S24

The Galaxy S24 is equipped with a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, offering a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The display is bright, durable, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The smartphone is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2400 processor with 8GB of RAM. It’s available in storage options ranging from 128GB to 512GB. For photography, the S24 includes a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is a 12MP shooter.

The device runs on OneUI 6.1, based on Android 14, and comes with seven years of software support. It also features a 4,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, Qi wireless charging, and wireless PowerShare capabilities.

    Is the Discount Worth It?

While Samsung’s Rs 62,999 offer is appealing, especially with the added benefits of official store support, the lower price on Amazon might be a better deal for those who don’t mind the color difference. Buyers should also consider their storage needs, as upgrading to a higher storage variant will add north of Rs 10,000 to the price. The 8GB + 256GB variant of the device is selling for Rs 67,999 on Amazon.

  • Why OnePlus and Oppo Aren’t Joining the 2024 Foldable Phone Race

Why OnePlus and Oppo Aren’t Joining the 2024 Foldable Phone Race

The foldable phone market has really heated up in 2024. Samsung and Motorola have released new versions of their foldable, refining hinge designs and addressing durability concerns.

Meanwhile, Chinese brands like Vivo, Honor, and Xiaomi are pushing the boundaries by creating slimmer, more portable foldables without sacrificing flagship features. However, two major players, OnePlus and its parent company Oppo, are notably absent from the foldable frenzy this year.

Oppo entered the foldable market in 2021 with the Find N, a book-style device similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. In 2022, they launched their first flip phone, the Find N2 Flip, and the original Find N successor, the Find N2. Both models were updated in 2023 as the Find N3 Flip and Find N3, respectively.

    OnePlus Open

OnePlus, leveraging its relationship with Oppo, launched the global version of the Find N3 as the OnePlus Open in 2023, marking its official entry into the foldable market.

As essentially the third iteration of Oppo’s foldable, the OnePlus Open received praise for its strong hardware and refined software experience. However, there has been no official announcement about a successor—the OnePlus Open 2—or any new foldable plans from Oppo for 2024.

Unless you’ve been closely following tech news, it’s unlikely that a OnePlus Open 2 or Oppo Find N5 will launch in 2024. Here’s what we know about the matter so far.

Why the OnePlus Open 2 and Oppo Find N5 Will Not Be Released in 2024

The rumor about the Find N5 not launching this year started with a leak in February. This was later corroborated by another leak in May from the usually reliable tipster Digital Chat Station. Since the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to be a rebranded version of the Find N5 for the global market, this means there will be no new entry in OnePlus’s foldable lineup for 2024 either. That is not to imply that Oppo or OnePlus are parting ways from the foldable scene; rather rumors suggest the brands will launch their new foldable in 2025.

Although details are scarce about the reasons behind the delay, the Chinese tech giants are likely focusing on making significant upgrades to their upcoming foldable. These improvements could include a lighter, more refined hinge mechanism, and a thinner overall design.

The foldable market is still in its early stages, with manufacturers continually refining designs and addressing challenges like durability and user experience.

The Honor Magic V3, for instance, has set a high bar for slimness and performance. It is the world’s slimmest foldable, yet have all the top-of-the-line features you would expect from a flagship phone — including a 5,150mAh battery that supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Given this fierce competition, a delay from OnePlus and Oppo could be a strategic decision to avoid rushing a product that might struggle to compete in the market.

Regarding the expected launch, rumors from China suggest that the Oppo Find N5 will debut in Q1 2025 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Consequently, the global release of the OnePlus Open 2 is likely to follow in the second quarter of 2025, as it typically takes 2 to 3 months for a Chinese product to launch internationally.

Find N5 Flip Delayed or Canceled?

It’s not just the book-style foldable that’s facing delays from Oppo. The Find N5 Flip, which was expected to be the successor to the Find N3 Flip, has also experienced a delay. In fact, some reports suggest that Oppo might have canceled the Find N5 Flip altogether.

While there isn’t strong evidence to confirm this, the research firm TrendForce reports that alongside Oppo, Vivo also has no plans to release a flip phone in 2024. Vivo has already launched its foldables for the year—the X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro—without mentioning any flip models.

According to the firm, the high cost of clamshell vertical foldable phones is impacting the profitability of these Chinese brands. Oppo Find N3 Flip was the best-selling clamshell foldable in China in 2023, but the financial pressures might lead the company to reconsider its flip phone offerings.

This is similar to how Apple discontinued the iPhone Mini series in favor of the Plus line with the iPhone 14. Oppo’s flip phone could face a similar fate if profitability concerns persist.

    New OnePlus Open Apex Edition

While there’s been no official word from OnePlus or Oppo about a new foldable, OnePlus did launch a new version of the OnePlus Open, called the Apex Edition, earlier this week.

It shares the same internal specs as the original Open but features a premium vegan leather back cover in a gorgeous Crimson Red color. The alert slider has also been accented in red to complement the new design.

Beyond aesthetics, the Apex Edition introduces a “VIP Mode” which can be activated via the alert slider. When enabled, this mode disables the camera and microphone, restricts app tracking, and shows a special splash screen along with a customized always-on display to ensure you’re aware that VIP Mode is active.

I’m not sure if this level of protection is necessary on a consumer device, but OnePlus included it anyway to make the Apex Edition stand out from its regular sibling.

The new design and features come at a price of Rs 149,999 in India. It’s available in a sole 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. If you’re wondering, the regular OnePlus Open with a 16GB/512GB configuration costs Rs 139,999 in India.

    Latest Foldable Alternatives

If you’re looking to try out a new foldable in 2024 with the latest hardware, there are some solid options available. While the global market isn’t as crowded as the Chinese one—since brands like Vivo and Xiaomi have yet to release their foldables globally—there are still exciting choices.

Honor is set to launch the Magic V3 globally soon, so that’s one to watch. Samsung offers the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Google is gearing up to release the Pixel 9 Pro Fold at their event next week. These are great alternatives if you’re interested in a book-style foldable. If you prefer something more pocketable, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Motorola’s Razr 2024 are worth considering.
