    Honor has shared additional information about its upcoming foldable device, set to launch shortly after Vivo’s X Fold5. Exactly one week later, Honor will introduce the Magic V5, although it appears that it won’t directly compete with the X Fold5.

    Targeting Samsung

    Instead, Honor is targeting Samsung directly, having previously positioned the Magic V3 in a similar way against the Galaxy Z Fold6. The company states that the Magic V5 is designed to “directly challenge the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7.” Expectations suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold7, along with new devices such as the Galaxy Z Flip7 and the latest Galaxy Watch smartwatches, won’t launch until mid-July.

    Lightweight and Powerful

    Honor claims that the Magic V5 will not only outshine the X Fold5 but also the Oppo Find N5, aiming to be the thinnest and lightest foldable in the world. However, it remains to be seen if this claim holds after Samsung reveals the Galaxy Z Fold7. Additionally, Honor suggests that the Magic V5 will utilize Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, implying that this foldable will be its most powerful model yet.

    At this point, it’s still uncertain whether Honor will use Qualcomm’s 7-core variant found in the Find N5 or the more robust 8-core version utilized in the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra (currently priced at $899.99 on Amazon). The company has hinted that the Magic V5 will offer ‘PC-level productivity’ as well. Furthermore, it looks like Honor has chosen to debut its new foldable in the rumored ‘Silk Gold’ color. This new shade is expected to be released alongside Velvet Black, Tundra Green, and Snow White when Honor officially reveals the Magic V5 on July 2, which will also feature 80 W wired charging capabilities.
