    While it seems like Nintendo is gearing up to launch Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, developer Sebastian Santabarbara has created an open-source application designed to enhance the experience of playing third-generation Pokémon games.

    Features of PKsinew

    The application, named PKsinew, can be accessed anytime during gameplay of Pokémon FireRed, Pokémon LeafGreen, Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, or Pokémon Emerald by pressing the Start and Select buttons together. It offers a variety of helpful features aimed at making these classic Pokémon games more user-friendly. For starters, it includes a Pokédex that gathers information from all the games, simplifying the completion process.

    Enhanced Trading and Storage Options

    Additionally, the app supplies extra information about Pokémon and enables trading between different games without the need for multiple game copies or two Game Boys. One of the most fascinating features is its PC system, which allows players to store as many as 2,400 Pokémon within the app, rather than being restricted to individual game saves. This means Pokémon can be managed separately from specific titles and transferred to the chosen game whenever required.

    Achievements and Event Tickets

    Moreover, the app introduces achievements to the Pokémon games. It also enables the unlocking of event tickets that Nintendo once offered for a limited time, such as those for capturing Mew, without the use of cheat codes or modifications. PKsinew is available for download now on GitHub. Currently, the app is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux, but it requires a more complex setup, which is detailed in the GitHub description.
