  • Star Wars Outlaws Performs Well on Switch 2, Leaked Gameplay Revealed

Star Wars Outlaws Performs Well on Switch 2, Leaked Gameplay Revealed

    Key Takeaways

    1. Star Wars Outlaws is set to release on September 4 for the Switch 2, generating mixed opinions from gamers.
    2. The game requires an RTX 3060 Ti for optimal performance at 60 FPS and 1080p, but needs optimization for the Switch 2.
    3. Leaked gameplay footage shows the game running at around 30 FPS below 1080p on the Switch 2 in docked mode, with some frame drops.
    4. The GVG YouTube channel reported poor performance during their hands-on experience at PAX West, with inconsistent frame rates below 30 FPS.
    5. The true performance of Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2, especially in handheld versus docked mode, will be revealed soon after the release.

The highly anticipated upcoming third-party release for the Switch 2, Star Wars Outlaws, is set to launch on September 4. This game has received a mix of opinions from PC and console gamers, and it isn’t particularly demanding, suggesting a minimum requirement of an RTX 3060 Ti for achieving 60 FPS at 1080p. However, it does require a significant amount of optimization to perform well on the Nintendo Switch 2. Luckily, recently leaked gameplay footage indicates that the game is running quite smoothly and reliably on the handheld device when docked.

    Gameplay Footage Leak

A user by the name of mataleao has posted about 40 minutes of gameplay from Star Wars Outlaws (linked below) on the Switch 2 in docked mode prior to its official release. It remains uncertain how they gained early access to the game, but their gameplay showcases them continuing from a previously saved game. As for the game’s resolution and frame rate, it appears to be running below 1080p at approximately 30 FPS, although this is difficult to verify.

    Frame Rates and Performance

The gameplay mostly consisted of indoor scenes, with some open-world exploration towards the end. While there were occasional frame drops and stutters, the overall performance was generally stable. Experiencing frequent drops in frame rates can ruin the gaming experience more than having a consistently lower FPS, which seems to be the situation with Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2. It appears that DLSS is functioning, at least in docked mode.

    Contrasting Views from PAX West

In contrast, the team from the GVG YouTube channel had a hands-on experience with the game at PAX West and reported that it runs “really poorly” on the Switch 2. The section they played took place on a Star Destroyer, with plenty of action sequences and space battles. Specifically, the Star Destroyer segment felt unstable, exhibiting inconsistent frame rates. They noted frame rate drops below 30 FPS, indicating that some moments might have reached 40 to 45 FPS or more, which is puzzling when compared to the leaked footage.

In short, we won’t have to wait long to find out how the game truly performs on the Switch 2, especially in terms of handheld mode versus docked.

  • MSI Crosshair 18 HX Lacks Key Feature for Enhanced Appeal

MSI Crosshair 18 HX Lacks Key Feature for Enhanced Appeal

    Key Takeaways

    1. The MSI Crosshair 18 HX is an affordable 18-inch gaming laptop but makes notable compromises.
    2. It is limited to the RTX 5070 graphics card and cannot be upgraded to the more powerful RTX 5070 Ti.
    3. The performance gap between the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti can reach up to 50%, affecting gaming experience.
    4. MSI may have omitted the RTX 5070 Ti to differentiate the Crosshair 18 from its premium models.
    5. While capable for 1080p and 1440p gaming, the RTX 5070 may struggle with demanding games on high settings.

The MSI Crosshair 18 HX stands out as one of the more budget-friendly 18-inch laptops available today, according to our review of this model. To achieve its lower price point, it makes several compromises, many of which are justifiable, like the unique RGB LEDs or the mini-LED display technology that some gamers might find unnecessary. However, one missing feature is particularly disappointing for even casual gamers.

    Graphics Card Limitations

A major downside of the Crosshair 18 HX is that it cannot be upgraded to include the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or any higher models; it maxes out with the RTX 5070. We’ve previously noted that the RTX 5070 Ti offers a considerable performance improvement over the RTX 5070, largely due to its substantial increase in VRAM. In fact, the performance gap between these two can reach up to 50 percent, as illustrated in our comparison charts below.

    Reasons for the Omission

There are a few potential reasons why MSI chose not to include the RTX 5070 Ti option. Being a midrange gaming laptop, MSI probably aims to distinguish the Crosshair 18 from its more premium models like the Raider 18, Stealth 18, or Vector 18. The higher-end alternatives can be equipped with the RTX 5070 Ti, but they come with much steeper starting prices.

    Performance Overview

Despite its limitations, the Crosshair 18 HX remains a solid choice for gaming at 1080p or 1440p resolutions. Nevertheless, its RTX 5070 may struggle with more resource-intensive games, such as Black Myth: Wukong, especially when played on high settings.

    2. Vault Hunter Mode: The return of Vault Hunter mode with five difficulty levels allows for mission challenges without needing to replay the campaign.

    3. Firmware Set Bonuses: Players can obtain gear bonuses around level 25, allowing for stat increases and one-time transfers before destruction.

    4. Free and Paid Post-Launch Content: Borderlands 4 will feature free updates and paid DLCs, including Seasonal Mini-Events and Bounty Packs focusing on lore and new missions.

    5. Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode: A new challenging mode will introduce powerful bosses with unique mechanics and modifiers for high-level players.

Gearbox Software shared a wealth of information about the endgame features and post-launch content plans for Borderlands 4 at the Gearbox Main Theatre Show during PAX West 2025.

    Endgame Features

At the event, it was revealed that the endgame stage of Borderlands 4 will allow players to enhance their characters through weekly challenges and unlock specializations. This will provide a more profound level of customization for loadouts, a lesson learned from earlier games in the series.

The fan-favorite Vault Hunter mode will be coming back, now with five difficulty levels that increase the challenges without requiring players to replay the campaign. Gamers will navigate through specially designed mission challenges tailored to test various loadouts and character builds, helping them improve their skills while avoiding the grind of repetitive loot farming.

    Gear and Bonuses

Around level 25 in the campaign, players will be able to obtain Firmware set bonuses for their gear. These bonuses will increase stats, and players can transfer those bonuses to a different item one time before the original item is destroyed.

Additionally, Gearbox is rolling out Weekly Wildcards, which will change with the missions and guarantee a Legendary reward. This includes the Weekly Big Encore Boss, where Moxxi selects a unique boss for enhanced encounters, which can be unlocked with Eridium to increase drop rates. Also, Maurice’s Black Market Machine will distribute loot across various locations on Kairos for players to find.

    Post-Launch Plans

The company also laid out its post-launch plan, which includes a blend of free updates and paid DLCs to extend the game’s life. Borderlands 4 will kick off free Seasonal Mini-Events in October 2025, starting with Horrors of Kairos, where players can earn new Legendary weapons, cosmetics, and a special weather variant.

Invincible Bosses will make their comeback as high-level challenges in fresh arenas, utilizing Borderlands 4’s new traversal mechanics. Players will also experience a new Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, described by Gearbox as:

“Consider them as bosses on steroids: featuring unique mechanics, huge health pools, and extremely dangerous attack damage, along with new modifiers that can quickly take out any unprepared Vault Hunters.”

    Bounty and Story Packs

For paid content, the roadmap is split into Story and Bounty Packs. The first Bounty Pack is scheduled for Q4 2025 and will delve deeper into the lore of Rush, the leader of the Outbounders. It will include new main missions, a boss, Legendary Gear, a player skin, an ECHO-4 drone skin, a new vehicle, and a Vault card that unlocks 24 cosmetics plus four options for rerollable gear.

The second Bounty Pack is set for Q1 2026 and will coincide with a free update for Pearlescent items, which will give players the chance to obtain ultra-rare gear that is one level above Legendary.

As for the Story Packs, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned are set to launch in Q1 2026, featuring a cosmic horror theme that is darker and grittier compared to the usual comedic style of the Borderlands series.

    Key Takeaways

    1. Blizzard Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against Turtle WoW for using its code and trademarks without permission, claiming it harms the player experience.
    2. The lawsuit includes allegations of copyright and trademark infringement, as well as racketeering, and is filed in the Central District Court of California.
    3. Turtle WoW, started in 2018, offers custom content and unauthorized servers, claiming to profit from the popularity of World of Warcraft.
    4. Blizzard is seeking a complete shutdown of Turtle WoW, demanding the seizure of project data, transfer of earnings, and domain handover.
    5. Despite legal challenges, Turtle WoW has reassured its community that it plans to continue operating and is developing a new project, Turtle WoW 2.0.

World of Warcraft creator Blizzard Entertainment has taken legal action against the operators of a network of fan-run private servers, which offer a different version of the game known as Turtle WoW.

The lawsuit was filed on August 29, 2025, in the Central District Court of California. Blizzard accuses the group of using its code, trademarks, and other assets without permission, arguing that “Turtle WoW’s unauthorized servers harm the player experience in several ways.”

    Legal Details

The case is listed under docket number 2:25-cv-08914 and includes allegations of copyright and trademark infringement along with claims of racketeering. Blizzard claims that Turtle WoW disrupts the WoW community, causes confusion, and presents potential security threats to players.

Blizzard has emphasized the substantial investments of time and money it has made in developing, maintaining, and updating World of Warcraft. They assert that the defendants “have built an entire business on a large-scale, egregious, and ongoing infringement of Blizzard’s intellectual property.”

    Turtle WoW Background

Turtle WoW started in 2018 as a free client for gamers and has accepted donations on its website. The servers offer custom content, modifications, and fan-created expansion stories that provide a deeper dive into the original lore of World of Warcraft.

According to Blizzard, “Through Turtle WoW, defendants have found a lucrative way to exploit and profit from the popularity of the WoW game experience.” Specifically, they state that Turtle WoW claims to provide paid access to unauthorized “emulated” WoW servers, along with all software and tools needed to access these servers, including pirated versions of WoW adjusted for their unauthorized servers.

    Future Developments

The creators of Turtle WoW have also been advertising an upcoming project called Turtle WoW 2.0, describing it as “the Vanilla WoW client fully replicated in Unreal Engine 5.” Reports suggest that Turtle WoW has gained significant traction, becoming one of the longest-surviving Classic+ private servers, with claims of over 13,000 peak players and potentially hundreds of thousands of total users.

In a surprising response on Discord, Turtle WoW reassured its community that the game is “going nowhere” and that the team is ready to confront legal challenges. Meanwhile, Blizzard is pursuing a total shutdown of Turtle WoW, demanding the seizure of all project data, a complete transfer of earnings, the handover of the Turtle WoW domain, as well as statutory damages and other costs.

  • Mortal Kombat 2 Movie Delayed to 2026, Skips Oct 2025 Release

Mortal Kombat 2 Movie Delayed to 2026, Skips Oct 2025 Release

    Key Takeaways

    1. New Release Date: Mortal Kombat 2’s release has been moved from October 24, 2025, to May 15, 2026, due to a crowded October schedule.

    2. Financial Reasons for the Shift: The delay is primarily for financial reasons, aiming for a successful early summer release, similar to the success of Final Destination: Bloodlines.

    3. Continuation of the Story: The sequel will continue the narrative from the 2021 reboot, featuring Karl Urban as Johnny Cage fighting against Shao Khan to protect Earth Realm.

    4. Returning Talent: Simon McQuoid returns as director, with Jeremy Slater writing the screenplay, continuing the creative team from the first film.

    5. Third Delay: This is the third delay for Mortal Kombat 2, despite filming being completed nearly two years ago.

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have officially announced a delay for the eagerly awaited sequel to NetherRealm’s praised fighting game film, Mortal Kombat 2, just eight weeks before it was supposed to hit theaters.

    New Release Date

The film’s release has been moved from October 24, 2025, to May 15, 2026. This decision comes as a result of a packed October schedule, which includes films like 20th Century Studios’ Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, featuring Jeremy Allen White, along with Paramount’s adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You. Historically, October does not perform well at the box office around Halloween.

    Financial Reasons for the Shift

According to Deadline reports, the last-minute change was made mainly for financial reasons. Studio heads believe that the film could benefit from a successful early summer release, similar to the recent triumph of Warner Bros. and New Line’s Final Destination: Bloodlines. That movie earned $50 million in the U.S. and grossed $301 million globally after its mid-May release.

The narrative of the sequel continues from the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot, featuring Karl Urban in the role of Johnny Cage, one of Earth’s champions. He will engage in a brutal fight against fellow fighters to overthrow the oppressive Shao Khan and protect Earth Realm from the Outerworld’s invasion.

    Returning Talent Behind the Scenes

Simon McQuoid will return to direct, having made his directorial debut with the first Mortal Kombat film. The screenplay for Mortal Kombat 2 was penned by Jeremy Slater, known for his work on Marvel’s Moon Knight series.

Fans can expect to see familiar faces as the cast includes Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Damon Herriman, Lewis Tan, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.

The journey for Mortal Kombat 2 began in January 2022, following the success of the 2021 film, which had a $23 million opening during the pandemic and ultimately made a respectable $42 million in the U.S.

    A Third Delay

This latest postponement is the third time Mortal Kombat 2 has seen its release pushed back, even though filming was reportedly completed almost two years ago. Fans can look forward to the movie hitting theaters on May 15, 2026, and it hopes to make a significant impact at the box office next summer.

    Impressive Display Specs

The handheld will come equipped with a 6-inch screen that boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD resolution. This upgrade represents a significant improvement over the previous model, Odin 2, which had a 60 Hz HD IPS panel. Such enhancements in both resolution and refresh rate necessitate a more robust SoC than its predecessor, and AYN has confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite will be the powerhouse behind this gaming device.

    Competing in the Market

Currently, the AYN Odin 3 is set to be the first gaming handheld with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. If the Ayaneo Konkr Pocket Fit Elite also incorporates the same SoC, it will position them as direct rivals. Alongside the advanced screen and chipset, the company has disclosed that this device will come with an 8,000 mAh battery, which remains unchanged from the previous version.

    Gaming Experience and Pricing

In its latest teaser, AYN has also indicated that the Odin 3 will feature full-size joysticks, weigh 390 grams, and maintain a compact design. These features make the Odin 3 an appealing choice for fans of Android gaming and emulation. Key Takeaways

    1. AntGamer announced a 1,000Hz eSports monitor concept expected to launch in 2026, featuring a twisted nematic (TN) panel with local dimming and black frame insertion (BFI).
    2. The recently unveiled ANT257PF monitor boasts a 750Hz refresh rate, designed for ultra-low latency gameplay with claims of improved signal integrity and reduced response time.
    3. AntGamer collaborated with AMD to discuss how higher refresh rates can reduce latency in popular games, presenting a joint white paper on 1,000fps esports.
    4. Details on the 1,000Hz monitor are limited, but it is expected to include user-adjustable BFI to help reduce blur, though its effectiveness at high refresh rates is still untested.
    5. Additional concepts revealed include a QHD 540Hz Fast IPS display and a dual-mode WOLED that can switch between QHD at 540Hz and FHD at 720Hz, with no pricing or availability information provided.

AntGamer recently held its “Top New Products and Ecosystem Co-creation” event on August 29, where they hinted at a 1,000Hz eSports monitor expected to launch in 2026. Alongside this announcement, they officially unveiled the 750Hz ANT257PF. The upcoming 2026 monitor concept features a twisted nematic (TN) panel, complete with local dimming and black frame insertion (BFI).

    Specs and Features of ANT257PF

The ANT257PF utilizes HKC G8.6 generation fast twisted nematic (TN) panel, specifically designed for ultra-low latency gameplay. AntGamer claims this monitor provides “the world’s highest input and output link transfer rates.” Additionally, the company states that a complete signal integrity redesign has improved eye diagram amplitude by 40 percent, while changes in material and process have reduced response time by 66 percent. However, these are still company claims until the monitor is properly tested.

    Collaboration with AMD

During the event, AntGamer and AMD presented a joint white paper discussing 1,000fps esports. They contend that increased refresh rates can minimize end-to-end latency in popular games like Counter Strike 2 and PUBG. A slide on Chinese social media discussed advancements in high-speed signaling, updates to thin film semiconductors, and changes in cell structure for quicker transitions.

    Future of the 1,000Hz Monitor

Details about the 1,000Hz display are currently limited. The information suggests it will use twisted nematic (TN) tech, with local dimming and a user-adjustable duty cycle for black frame insertion. While BFI can help lessen perceived blur, especially at lower frame rates, its efficiency at four-digit refresh rates has yet to be tested. More concrete specifications are anticipated as we approach 2026.

The announcement of AntGamer’s 750Hz monitor follows earlier teasers of other 750Hz models, so the sheer speed alone is not groundbreaking. The real focus here is the company’s advancements in signal-chain engineering and their claim of improved data transmission links, which could become significant as refresh rates exceed current capabilities.

    Additional Concepts Revealed

AntGamer also introduced two additional high-speed concepts: a QHD 540Hz Fast IPS (HMO/oxide) display and a dual-mode WOLED that can switch between QHD at 540Hz and FHD at 720Hz. However, the company did not disclose any pricing or general availability for these products.

How AYANEO Pocket DS Software Works: A Complete Guide

    Key Takeaways

    1. The Ayaneo Pocket DS features a custom launcher called Ayaneo DS Launcher, allowing app organization and an app drawer for easy access, though the alphabetical scrolling feature is still in progress.

    2. The secondary screen will offer a card-style multitasking menu, enabling users to manage applications with a three-point hamburger menu for closing or sending apps to the home screen.

    3. The Quick Control Center on the secondary screen allows users to toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, light/dark modes, and includes a brightness slider and shortcuts for screenshots and screen recording.

    4. The Focus Lock feature provides three modes for screen usage, allowing users to lock focus on either the main or secondary screen, regardless of touches on the other screen.

    5. The Pocket DS is compatible with the melonDS emulator and Rocknix OS, and is available for pre-order on Indiegogo, starting at $399, with shipping expected in October.

Ahead of the launch of the AYANEO Pocket DS, the company has shared insights on how the software in this dual-screen Android handheld will function. This information includes not only how the two displays will collaborate but also outlines which features are finished and which ones are still being worked on.

    Custom Launcher Features

The Ayaneo Pocket DS will come equipped with a specialized launcher known as Ayaneo DS Launcher. This launcher will feature an app drawer that allows users to access all applications with a single click. Additionally, users will have the ability to organize apps based on their preferences. Ayaneo has also disclosed that users will be able to scroll through apps alphabetically for easier access. However, this particular feature is not yet complete, unlike the other two mentioned.

    Multitasking and Control Options

Images released by Ayaneo illustrate that the secondary screen on the Pocket DS will showcase a card-style multitasking menu when the Task tab is activated. Each application will include a three-point hamburger menu that provides options to either close the app or send it to the main/home screen. Another image indicates that when an app is displayed in full screen on the bottom screen, users can choose to close it, send it to the home screen, or minimize it using a control bar.

    Quick Control Center

An additional feature of the secondary screen is the Quick Control Center. This menu can be accessed by selecting the Control tab at the bottom of the screen. The Quick Control Center will enable users to toggle features like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and off, or switch between light and dark modes. It will also include a brightness slider for both displays, as well as shortcuts for taking screenshots, screen recording, and dimming the main display.

Ayaneo has also finalized a function called Focus Lock, which offers three modes for utilizing the two screens. The modes consist of “Auto Switch,” which lets users automatically shift focus between screens by tapping on them. The other two modes, “Lock Main Screen” and “Lock Secondary Screen,” do exactly what their names imply, keeping focus locked on the main or secondary screen respectively. Therefore, even if you touch the other screen, focus will remain on the locked screen.

    Compatibility and OS Support

In addition to outlining the software features, Ayaneo has confirmed that the well-known Nintendo DS emulator, melonDS, has been tested and is confirmed to work with the Pocket DS. This feature was introduced in version v0.2.0 of the Android app. The changelog shared by the developer also mentioned that compatibility with the Pocket DS will also benefit other dual-screen handhelds, such as the AYN Thor.

Finally, the Pocket DS is compatible with Rocknix OS, a Linux distribution tailored for handheld gaming devices.

The Ayaneo Pocket DS can be pre-ordered on Indiegogo, starting at a price of $399, with shipping expected to begin in October.
