Microsoft Launches Xbox Ally and Ally X: Pre-Orders Now Open

    Key Takeaways

    1. Asus announced prices for the ROG Xbox Ally ($599.99) and ROG Xbox Ally X ($999.99) in the U.S., which are higher than previous leaks suggested.
    2. Pre-orders will start soon, with shipping beginning on October 16th; the ROG Xbox Ally X will be a Best Buy exclusive.
    3. Pricing in other regions includes €599.99/€899.99 in Europe, £499.99/£799.99 in the UK, and $799.99 CAD/$1299.99 CAD in Canada.
    4. Both handhelds feature 7-inch 1080p 120Hz screens, with the ROG Xbox Ally X having a 1TB SSD and 24GB of RAM, powered by the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip.
    5. The ROG Xbox Ally X faces competition from devices like the Lenovo Legion Go 2 and the Steam Deck, which recently saw a price drop to $319.99.

After a long period of waiting, Asus has officially revealed the prices for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. Sadly, for gamers in the U.S., the MSRP is higher than what recent leaks indicated. The more affordable gaming handheld is priced at $599.99, while the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme model is tagged at $999.99. Pre-orders will start soon at various retailers, and shipping is set to begin on October 16th. It’s worth noting that the ROG Xbox Ally X is a Best Buy exclusive.

    Pricing in Other Markets

In other regions, the pricing is as follows:

    – Europe: €599.99/€899.99
    – UK: £499.99/£799.99
    – Canada: $799.99 CAD/$1299.99 CAD
    – Australia: 799.99 AUD/1599.99 AUD

Players had anticipated that Microsoft would reveal the prices for the Windows 11 handhelds at Gamescom 2025. However, the announcement was delayed as the company chose to reassess the challenging economic situation. With the release date for the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X just weeks away, consumers can now decide whether to save up or look for other options.

    Expectations vs. Reality

For buyers in Europe, the newly revealed pricing aligns with prior leaks. In contrast, on September 13th, YouTuber Destin posted photos of a Best Buy demo display that were confirmed by an employee, showing prices of $549.99/$899.99. It seems that either Microsoft and Asus made a last-minute adjustment, or the earlier information was incorrect.

Both handhelds sport 7-inch 1080p 120Hz screens and leverage the new Xbox full-screen experience. The ROG Xbox Series X boasts a 1TB SSD, doubling the storage of the cheaper model, and increasing its memory to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM. A key difference is its Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, which is expected to enhance its performance.

    Competing Options

The ROG Xbox Ally X must persuade gamers to choose it over alternatives like the newly released Lenovo Legion Go 2, which features an OLED screen. Meanwhile, the lower-priced Xbox Ally competes against the Steam Deck LCD, which has recently dropped to $319.99. For those looking for more options, the updated UI will be available on additional devices in 2026.

  • SEGA Teases New Virtua Fighter and Stranger Than Heaven Projects

SEGA Teases New Virtua Fighter and Stranger Than Heaven Projects

    Key Takeaways

    1. Sega and RGG Studio revealed the New Virtua Fighter Project at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, showcasing smooth combat animations and new gameplay systems.
    2. The game introduces two sets of gameplay rules: Standard rules and Uprising rules, the latter featuring Break and Rush, Flow Guard, and Stunner and Stun Combo systems.
    3. Break and Rush allows players to target specific body areas for damage, while Stunner and Stun Combo enables seamless move linking for fluid combat.
    4. Flow Guard complements Break and Rush by allowing players to block attacks and execute counters effectively.
    5. Release dates for both the New Virtua Fighter Project and Stranger Than Heaven remain unknown, with potential announcements expected by March 31, 2027.

Sega and RGG Studio revealed the New Virtua Fighter Project during a teaser trailer at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, which was part of a larger fifty-minute showcase. This presentation not only highlighted the game’s smooth combat animations but also provided an in-depth look at the battle rules and three gameplay systems aimed at revitalizing the series.

    Insights from RGG Direct Summit

For those eager to learn more, the Ryu Ga Gotoku’s RGG Direct Summit took place a day before the TGS events, offering a glimpse into the making of Stranger Than Heaven.

    New Gameplay Rules Introduced

The New Virtua Fighter Project brings in two fresh sets of rules. The Standard rules respect the core mechanics of the series, where players can win a round by knocking out their opponent or executing a ring out, with a match going to the first player to secure three rounds. In addition to this, the New Virtua Fighter Project will introduce the Uprising rules, which include three new systems: Break and Rush, Flow Guard, and Stunner and Stun Combo.

    Mechanics of Break and Rush

Break and Rush enables players to focus damage on a specific area of their opponent’s body until a break state occurs, leaving the opponent vulnerable for special moves that can follow. The consequences of Break and Rush will persist into the next rounds.

Stunner and Stun Combo allows players to smoothly link moves, creating a more lifelike back-and-forth combat experience without the need for complicated inputs, similar to the Special Style in Tekken 8.

    Flow Guard and More

Completing the gameplay systems, Flow Guard is connected to Break and Rush, enabling players to block an opponent’s attacks and then execute counters.

In addition to the combat details of The Virtua Fighter Project, the RGG Summit on September 24, 2025, also revealed Yakuza Kiwami 3. It concluded the RGG Direct showcase with a sneak peek at the studio’s new IP, Stranger Than Heaven, featuring a 1943 noir and jazz-inspired opening sequence that displayed RGG’s creative processes and motion capture work for the game.

    Release Dates Still Unknown

Both Stranger Than Heaven and the New Virtua Fighter Project from Sega and RGG have not yet had their release dates announced. Sega’s financial reports suggest that a release announcement could come during its fiscal year ending on March 31, 2027.

Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for a more detailed hands-on experience of the New Virtua Fighter Project. Based on the short teaser, it’s plausible that the game may be set for a release in late 2027 or early 2028.

  • Palworld x Ultrakill Collaboration: Exciting Retro Theme Unveiled

Palworld x Ultrakill Collaboration: Exciting Retro Theme Unveiled

    Key Takeaways

    1. Pocketpair announced a crossover between Palworld and Ultrakill, incorporating Ultrakill’s gear and weapons into Palworld.
    2. The announcement was made on September 23, 2025, showcasing Ultrakill’s main character, V2, alongside Anubis.
    3. Ultrakill, which began development in 2018, has had significant content updates and is expected to complete its final act by late 2026.
    4. This is Palworld’s second indie collaboration this year, following a partnership with Terraria that attracted over 120,000 concurrent players.
    5. Pocketpair plans to focus on refining Palworld and addressing technical issues before its full launch in 2026, despite ongoing patent disputes with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.

Just a week after Pocketpair stated they would take a break for the rest of the year to refine Palworld for its full 1.0 launch in 2026, the studio stunned the gaming world with a surprising but exciting crossover with the intense retro first-person shooter, Ultrakill.

    Exciting Announcement

The announcement was made on Palworld’s official X account on September 23, 2025, revealing that Ultrakill’s hellish style would be incorporated into Palworld. They mentioned, “Gear and weapons from the cult-hit Ultrakill are coming to Palworld!” The artwork featured Ultrakill’s main character, V2, alongside Anubis.

    Development Journey

Ultrakill’s journey started in 2018 as a solo project by Arsi “Hakita” Patala. Much like Palworld, it has seen significant advancements with substantial content updates during its Early Access phase. The game received a major update called ULTRA_REVAMPED in February 2025, which improved its visuals and code while also adding new Encore levels.

The game debuted in Early Access with four levels in Act I. Act II later added three more levels, with the final layer of Act II, named “Violence,” launching in late July 2025. The concluding Act, “Godfist Suicide,” is currently being developed and will include two layers. The game’s development is expected to wrap up by late 2026.

    Another Collaboration

This marks the second indie partnership for Palworld this year, as they previously collaborated with Terraria in early 2025. This partnership brought pixelated Pals and mining tools through the Tides of Terraria update, which reached over 120,000 concurrent players on Steam.

This new update comes after community director Bucky’s statement on September 16, where he mentioned:

“Beyond just adding new content, there’s a lot of cleanup that needs to be done before Palworld can exit early access.

It’s no secret that Palworld has its quirks and jank, and we want to take the time to properly address those before the game releases. With that being said, we plan to started this cleanup this year.”

Pocketpair had promised a “truly massive amount of content” for the 2026 launch, yet it’s surprising to see them venture into another collaboration while they are still in the midst of technical improvements and dealing with ongoing patent disputes from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who claimed Palworld infringed on capture mechanics patents filed after its launch.

  • Helldivers 2 Crashes: Arrowhead Addresses Performance and Stability Issues

Helldivers 2 Crashes: Arrowhead Addresses Performance and Stability Issues

    Key Takeaways

    1. Arrowhead Game Studios is addressing performance challenges in Helldivers 2, acknowledging player frustrations with crashes, freezes, and glitches since its February 2024 launch.

    2. The game’s Steam reviews have declined from Very Positive to Mostly Positive, with a current score of 76.65% and over 243,703 negative reviews related to performance issues.

    3. A short-term update is planned for mid-October to provide crash fixes, audio issue resolutions, and minor performance enhancements.

    4. Arrowhead recognizes that larger performance issues will take more time to fix, emphasizing that quick solutions are not feasible for these complex problems.

    5. Despite current challenges, Helldivers 2 remains popular among live-service extraction shooters, and Arrowhead has a history of responding to player feedback, suggesting potential improvements in the future.

Helldivers 2’s developer, Arrowhead Game Studios, is currently tackling the game’s increasing performance challenges as player frustration grows over its state. The studio acknowledged that recent updates have not effectively resolved issues like crashes, freezes, and various glitches that have affected gameplay since its launch in February 2024.

    Community Feedback

On September 24, 2025, the studio’s community manager, Baskinator, posted a thorough message on Helldivers 2’s X account and Discord server. In this message, they stated:

“We understand that many of you are facing problems, such as performance drops, stability issues, freezes, and frustrating audio bugs.

We’ve been monitoring the responses on Discord, Reddit, and our internal dashboards. Your feedback has been loud, clear, and you’re correct to expect better from us. We also acknowledge that our recent updates have not met your expectations, and our lack of communication hasn’t helped matters. We take full responsibility for that.”

    Declining Reviews

This announcement comes as the game’s Steam reviews have dropped from Very Positive to Mostly Positive, holding a score of 76.65%, with a total of 243,703 negative reviews. Many players have reported stutters that render the game unplayable on PC.

To tackle these issues, Arrowhead has laid out a short-term plan that begins with an update in mid-October. This update is intended to provide noticeable improvements, including vital crash fixes, solutions to audio issues like “Primary weapon/Side-arm audio cutting out during missions,” and some minor performance enhancements.

    Future Plans

Arrowhead emphasizes that this patch is just a starting point, saying, “In the short term, we believe the above will provide a noticeable improvement, and we will continue to address the major issues you have raised.”

However, the studio noted that more significant technical issues will require additional time to fix. They commented:

“For larger performance-related problems, we can’t just wave a magic wand for a quick fix, and a 60-day patch won’t solve everything (it would be more like putting duct tape on where we need to solder); therefore, we are developing a more extensive plan to tackle these larger concerns.”

Even with these challenges, Helldivers 2 remains one of the leading live-service extraction shooters, especially after its launch on Xbox this year. Arrowhead has a solid history of paying attention to player feedback. Thus, this current rough period might just set the stage for smoother gaming experiences ahead.

DIY Exoskeleton Aim Assist Cuts Latency to 17 ms for Aimlabs Leaderboard

    Key Takeaways

    1. Nick Zetta explores the possibility of creating a DIY exoskeleton to enhance aiming in video games.
    2. The project consists of a motorized wrist assist, a solenoid-powered finger clicker, and a computer vision system.
    3. Zetta faced challenges with wiring and latency but improved the system to achieve 17 milliseconds of response time.
    4. His innovation led him to reach second place on the Aimlabs global leaderboard.
    5. The project combines humor and robotics, emphasizing creativity in engineering while claiming it’s not cheating.

Nick Zetta from the YouTube channel Basically Homeless is known for his unique and creative projects in DIY engineering. In his latest video, he set out to explore an interesting question: is it possible to create an exoskeleton that can enhance your aim in video games?

    The Start of a Journey

The project began with some frustration. After hitting a score of 135,000 in Aimlabs, Zetta pondered if robotics could give him the edge that human reflexes often lack. His design was made up of three key parts: a motorized wrist assist to control the mouse, a solenoid-powered “finger clicky exoskeleton” for shooting, and a computer vision system to spot targets onscreen.

    Overcoming Challenges

After facing numerous challenges with wiring, encoders, and delays, Zetta finally made a remarkable advancement. By incorporating an Nvidia Jetson board with a specially trained YOLO model and enhancing the hardware, he managed to cut down the latency to only 17 milliseconds, which felt almost instant. This improvement allowed Zetta to reach second place on the Aimlabs global leaderboard.

A Blend of Fun and Innovation

The project blends humor with serious robotics, highlighting both the innovation and the silliness of using engineering to gain an edge, all while claiming it isn’t cheating. Zetta referred to the device as an “anti-scammer eye replacement exoskeleton.”

Although priced at around $80 (you can snag the Deluxe Edition – Xbox Series X|S [Digital Code] for $79.99 on Amazon), Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has been a hit for Konami, with over a million copies sold within the first 24 hours of its release. Both gamers and reviewers have given the game positive feedback, even though some felt it was too similar to the original Snake Eater that came out in 2004.

    Multiplayer Mode Launch

In August, when Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was launched, numerous fans expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the absence of a multiplayer feature. The multiplayer mode, which was earlier announced and called Fox Hunter, has finally been given a release date: October 30. Along with this announcement, Konami has shared some gameplay specifics.

    Gameplay Features

As reported by Game Rant, the developers state that Fox Hunt enables players to cooperate in pairs, accommodating up to 12 players. There will be three types of maps, one of which is a jungle setting. At the start, only two mission types will be available, and they will be randomly chosen for each match. Similar to the single-player experience, stealth will be crucial in Fox Hunt, but players will get a new tool to enhance their chances of survival. The AT-Camo device comes with an environmental scanner called Naked Sense, which helps players identify items and enemies in their vicinity by using stamina.

    No Microtransactions Planned

Luckily, there are currently no plans for microtransactions. So far, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has reached a peak of 19,634 concurrent players on Steam, making it likely that Fox Hunt will help it surpass the 25k mark. We will know for sure by the end of October if this prediction holds true.
