  • Sega Vet: Sonic Creator Wanted to Rename Billy Hatcher ‘Giant Cock’

Sega Vet: Sonic Creator Wanted to Rename Billy Hatcher ‘Giant Cock’

    Key Takeaway

    – Billy Hatcher was originally going to be named “Giant Eggs” by Yuji Naka.
    – The U.S. team rejected “Giant Eggs” because “to lay a big egg” is slang for failure.
    – The team chose “Billy Hatcher” over Naka’s objection.
    – Naka suggested “Giant Cock” as an alternative title, which was rejected.
    – Despite the naming disputes, the game gained a small cult following.

Interview Raises Eyebrows Over Sega’s Marketing Past

A recent interview has raised quite a few eyebrows regarding Sega’s early video game marketing history. Former Sega of America executive Mike Fischer sat down with Sega-16 and shared some unusual ideas from Sonic co-creator Yuji Naka for the 2003 GameCube title Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg during its localization for Western audiences.

    Giant Eggs or Billy Hatcher?

Mike Fischer handled marketing for Billy Hatcher during his second stint at Sega, and he explained that Naka originally wanted to name the game Giant Eggs. The U.S. team wasn’t fond of this idea, and they told Naka that “to lay a big egg” is American slang for a spectacular failure. Another member of Fischer’s team suggested that the game should be called Billy Hatcher, since it was about a cute character in a rooster suit. However, Naka, the co-creator of Sonic, disliked that idea as well.

Despite Naka’s reservations, the team settled on Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. During a tour of the U.S., with Fischer sometimes acting as an intermediary translator, Naka offered one last idea: “Well, I know another name for the boy wearing a rooster suit. Another name for rooster is cock. Can we call the game Giant Cock in English?” Fischer emphasized that this actually happened and said in the interview, “I promise you, I am not making up this story. I have two witnesses.” He also noted that Naka seemed to have a curious “obsession with eggs” in his projects.

    Gameplay and Cult Following

Despite the odd localization-naming debate, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg was an unusual platforming game by Sonic Team. Players step into the shoes of Billy, who obtains a magical rooster suit and gains the ability to befriend giant eggs, which later hatch into creatures that help him clear levels.

The game featured vibrant, hand-drawn visuals, a catchy, eccentric soundtrack, and local four-player co-op, which was typical of the GameCube era. Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg still has a small cult following. Still, we will never know whether Billy the Giant Cock would have helped or hurt the game’s popularity when it was released in September 2003.

Microsoft Secure Boot AMA June 2026 Fleet Risk Highlights

    Key Takeaway

    – Core cryptographic keys in the Windows hardware trust chain expire in three phases: June 24, June 27, and mid-October.
    – Consumer PCs transition automatically, but enterprise networks face telemetry blind spots and fragmented motherboard software states.
    – Unpatched corporate endpoints remain vulnerable to bootkits that exploit old firmware trust variables.
    – Systems deployed between 2019 and 2023 that bypassed hardware checks are stuck, requiring manual evaluation of individual machines.
    – Forcing manual key updates without verifying BIOS baselines or drive encryption alignment can brick computers or trigger endless recovery screens.

Microsoft Engineers Lays Out Grim Truths

The core cryptographic keys which have anchored the Windows hardware trust chain since Windows 8 launched are set to expire soon, Microsoft engineers recently explained during a urgent question-and-answer session. While consumer PCs will transition automatically without issue, enterprise networks are facing severe telemetry blind spots plus fragmented motherboard software states that could cause huge problems for system administrators.

    Hardware Rollover and Certificate Phases

The keys are being replaced with updated certificates designed to protect system firmware through the next decade. Affected computers will continue to still boot normally past the mid-year expiration dates without throwing immediate errors at users. But missing these deadlines simply means endpoints lose future access too critical bootloader updates and the security revocation lists needed to block firmware-level threats effectively now.

    • Original key exchange certificate retires first on June 24
    • Primary third-party signature anchor hits end of life on June 27
    • Native Windows operating system key officially expires in mid-October

The upcoming transition hits three clear expiration phases over the next few months. Sysadmins cannot afford too ignore this timeline if they manage hybrid environments cause left unpatched corporate endpoints remain vulnerable to sophisticated bootkits that exploit old firmware trust variables permanently now.

Millions of Corporate Desktops Are Unverified

Millions of corporate desktop computers currently sit in a unverified status inside centralized management consoles. Microsoft designed its deployment strategy too pull real-time system metrics before writing new variables to physical motherboards. If an older board flags inconsistent behavior or runs a legacy setup the automated installation pauses to prevent a completely bricked computer from occuring.

This automated safety switch creates a massive backup for hardware deployed between 2019 and 2023. Systems that bypassed basic hardware checks to install newer operating systems are completely stuck right now. These configurations cannot ingest the automated keys which forces administrators to evaluate individual machines line by line without any shortcuts available.

Manual Workarounds and Drive Encryption Risks

Fleet managers under pressure can manually force the new keys down using custom configuration profiles or local registry adjustments. The May cumulative update delivers a dedicated administration directory packed with verification scripts to check machine readiness before deployment. Attempting these manual changes without updating the core system BIOS first will cause immediate hardware mismatch errors that brick systems.

Bypassing the automated safety checks introduces an even worse headache for networks using drive encryption on there endpoints. Rewriting active trust keys alters the baseline platform measurements tied too the disk safety locks automatically now. Forcing a mass restart without verifying the platform alignment sends machines straight into endless recovery screens that require manual intervention by staff.

    Preventing a Helpdesk Disaster

System administrators must verify there local firmware baselines before pushing automated patch scripts across the corporate network enviroment. Taking a methodical approach prevents a security update from turning into a corporate helpdesk disaster that costs time and money. Microsoft.com provides more details for IT teams needing additional guidance on implementing these changes correctly.

Casio’s “Magma Gold” Mudmaster Hits US Market

Casio’s long-anticipated “Magma Gold” Mudmaster has quietly gone on sale in the United States. It is now listed on the official G-Shock website as the GWGB1000MG19 at $900.

From Leaked Images to Retail Shelves

The watch has had a lengthily road to retail, to be fair. The model number first surfaced towards the end of 2025, with the first leaked image emerging in February 2026. At the time, a late 2026 release was on the cards, though more recent reports brought that forward to May 2026 for Japan. A French retailer subsequently placed the European release in June 2026 at €899, while the US window was unconfirmed — until now.

Design Inspired by Lava and Rock

Casio is marketing the GWGB1000MG19 under the “Magma Gold” theme. Its color palette has been drawn from flowing lava and solidifying rock. The dial features intense red and orange hands and indexes against a dark case with a gold ion-plated bezel. The band uses what the company refers to as “Garal color molding” — a technique that combines resins of different colors to create marbled patterns, just like geological strata. The case uses a black precision-forged metal construction with a Carbon Core Guard structure, with bio-based resin used throughout. The result is a chunky watch that measures 58.7 × 52.1 × 16.2 mm and weighs 114 g.

    Full Suite of Mudmaster Features

Feature-wise, this is a full-fat Mudmaster. The Triple Sensor covers compass, altimeter, and barometric pressure, along side a thermometer. It’s solar-powered with Multi-Band 6 radio control, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, a Location Indicator function, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, DLC-treated stainless steel, and 200-meter water resistance. The watch ships in special limited edition packaging.

    Built for Extreme Conditions

The Mudmaster line is basically built for harsh terrestrial environments, with mud-resistant buttons and a screw-lock crown to keep debris out. At $900, the Magma Gold is definately sitting at the premium end of the Master of G lineup, along side a full suite of hardware to match.

  • State of Play 2026 Sets Record, God of War Laufey Leads

State of Play 2026 Sets Record, God of War Laufey Leads

    Key Takeaway

    – State of Play 2026 hit a record peak of over 3 million live viewers.
    – YouTube trailers for *Marvel’s Wolverine* and *God of War: Laufey* generated over 4.4 million hours watched.
    – *God of War: Laufey* and *Marvel’s Wolverine* were the most-viewed trailers, far outpacing all other games shown.
    – *God of War: Laufey* has a mixed reception, with a dislike ratio higher than *Wolverine*, but strong sales are still anticipated.
    – Increased co-streaming by content creators was a major factor in the event’s record-breaking performance.

State of Play 2026 viewership numbers are in

A May 19th announcment allowed hype surrounding State of Play 2026 to build for two weeks. That excitement culminated in the highest viewership to date for the PlayStation showcase. Streams Charts revealed that it accumulated a peak of over 3 million live viewers, topping the June 2025 event. This milestone marks a significant increase from previous years.

YouTube trailers for PS5 exclusives attract huge audiences

YouTube trailers for PS5 exclusives like Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey are now attracting the largest audiences. Kicking off and closing the broadcast, they helped generate more than 4.4 million hours watched. Streams Charts credits more content creators co-streaming the spectacle for contributing to the impressive performance. This co-streaming strategy has clearly paid off for Sony.

Comparing this State of Play to past events

The recent State of Play ranks higher than its June 2025 competition, which reached a peak viewership of around 2.25 million. Next is the February 2026 bonanza at 2.2 million, with the January 2024 showcase further behind at 1.63 million. These numbers show a clear upward trend in audience engagement. Critics have complained about the slow pace of new PS5 exclusive games.

God of War Laufey trailer dominates YouTube

Its not suprising then that a pair of first-party titles continues to recieve the most attention. In pole position on the PlayStation YouTube channel, the God of War Laufey trailer has notched 5.2 million total views. Since the unveiling of the Santa Monica Studio project, the limited role of Kratos has dissapointed some fans. Instead, his late wife Faye/Laufey faces off against enemies in the afterlife.

The mixed reaction may be reflected in a like/dislike ratio of 341K to an estimated 178K. Nevertheless, most analysts anticipate strong sales on its rumored 1st-half of 2027 release date. Gamers already knew that Marvel’s Wolverine would attend the State of Play 2026. The gory presentation delighted Logan supporters, with the trailer’s view count second at 4.8 million. The non-stop violence wasnt controversial enough to earn a high percentage of dislikes.

    Other games at the broadcast

About 20 PS5 games in total were on display during the PlayStation broadcast. Until Dawn 2, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Silent Hill: Townfall are among the other most popular videos. Still, none come close to matching the views of the new God of War game or Marvel’s Wolverine.

  • RPCS3 Adds Blu-Ray Support & Major Effects Fixes

    Key Takeaway

    – RPCS3 can now boot games directly from supported Blu-Ray drives and use disc dumping tools for decryption.
    – Automatic application of recommended database settings at boot simplifies game setup while preserving user preferences.
    – New UI features allow reordering of game list columns for easier sorting.
    – Major graphical fixes across dozens of games, including reflections, shadows, skyboxes, and lighting.
    – Support for decrypted and encrypted ISOs improves game preservation and disc-based emulation.

    New Features Hit RPCS3 Emulator

The talented developers behind cross-platform PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 continue to impress with new features and fixes for the emulator, now including the ability to boot games from supported Blu-Ray drives. The same drives can now also be used to decrypt PlayStation 3 games with 13xforever’s disc dumping tool—but more on that below. For now, lets focus on the other new RPCS3 features and fixes.

    Boot improvements and UI changes

One major improvement is in game booting itself. Now, RPCS3 will automatically apply recommended RPCS3 database configuration settings on boot, barring game patches, resolution scaling, anisotropic filtering, and debug configurations. Since those are typically unneccessary for getting a game to work properly (and may also boil down to personal preference,) they are left untouched by this update while still making it easier to get games up and running before opening up an RPCS3 Wiki page.

Game list columns and visual fixes

Another major feature addition is the game booting UI, which allows you to reorder game list columns (such as playtime, compatibility, etc), making it easier to sort games within the RPCS3 UI. By far the most important updates are to game effects themselves, though. Reflections, shadows, skyboxes, lighting, and various other effects have been fixed across dozens of games in the RPCS3 library, further improving accuracy and fidelity for the emulator. Weve listed known-impacted titles below.

    Preservation and drive support

The full breadth of games with improved emulation is unknown even by the RPCS3 team, but what they’ve shown is fairly impressive for fans of emulation and game preservation alike. On the note of preservation, RPCS3 now supports both decrypted and encrypted ISOs alongside Blu-Ray drives, and the RPCS3 Quickstart page now includes a full list of compatible Blu-Ray drives at the bottom.

Alongside the recent (unrelated) release of OmniDrive firmware, we’re seeing an impressive push on part of developers in the emulation scene to improve support for booting and backing up games from real media without the need for a jailbroken console. Hopefully, these efforts continue making emulation easier without the need to resort to piracy or bloating a perfectly-good SSD with a game you already have on a disc.

Confidential iPhone 18 Pro Leaks Reveal Vibrant New Colors

    Key Takeaway

    – Two distinct sources reveal design models and alleged iPhone 18 Pro components.
    – Potential colors: Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Black, and returning Silver.
    – Design appears identical to iPhone 17 Pro from the rear.
    – Leak suggests Apple is experimenting with bolder, more vivid colorways.
    – Authenticity of parts is unconfirmed; final colors may be toned down for retail.

iPhone 18 Pro Leak Reveals Stunning New Colors and Design Details

There has been a whole lot of leaks and rumours regarding the iPhone 18 Pro that keep coming, and now two distinct sources have shared the clearest images yet of design models along with alleged iPhone 18 Pro components. As you might of guessed, these images offer a fresh view of the possible colours for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, which could be Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Black, and the returning Silver colour from the iPhone 17 Pro lineup.

Design Models Indicate Apple’s Shift to Bolder Color Choices

The design model images originate from a source which has a track record of accurate leaks and phone reviews in the past. They provide a exceptionally clear view of the iPhone 18 Pro’s alleged design, which appears completely identical to the iPhone 17 Pro, at least when viewing from the rear. While the vividness of these dummy units seems somewhat unusual for Apple’s premium flagships, the earlier example set by the “Cosmic Orange” iPhone 17 Pro suggests that Apple is becoming more willing to experiment with bold and fun paint jobs for there Pro series devices.

Alleged iPhone 18 Pro Parts Surface Online, Adding Credibility

The second part of this leak is actually more controversial, because it allegedly shows real iPhone 18 Pro components, specifically the rear panel of the phone. The images show complete sets that include SIM card trays and screws, which is quite detailed. Of course, it is completely impossible to confirm if these parts are genuine or if they are intended for early testing prototypes and not final production units. Nevertheless, the colours seen in the dummy models and the back panel images seem to align quite closely, especially regarding the saturated and vivid tones of the Light Blue and Dark Cherry colour options.

Overall, the newest iPhone 18 Pro leaks have raised hopes that Apple might finally give iPhone owners a option of at least two bold new colourways that accompany the standard Black and Silver options. Whether these vivid hues will actually make it to the final units or if they will be toned down for the official retail release remains to be seen. We expect to get definitive answers once the iPhone 18 Pro series, and the rumoured foldable iPhone Ultra, make there official debut this coming September. Sahil Karoul, Pipfix
