SanDisk has launched a new family of USB-C flash drives under the CZB Series name, expanding its portable storage line for users who have largely moved away from traditional rectangular USB-A ports. The announcement was made without a major press event, with the drives quietly appearing for sale in both the United States and China.
Compact design built for portability
The CZB drives come in a black casing that measures less than two inches in length and weighs approximately 6 grams. A small integrated loop allows the drive to be attached to a keychain or lanyard, a practical detail for users who need quick access to their files while traveling or commuting. The design focuses on straightforward plug-and-play functionality with modern laptops, tablets, and phones that rely on USB-C connections.
Performance and software compatibility
All models in the series operate over the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, which supports up to 5 Gbps of bandwidth. SanDisk rates the sequential read performance at up to 250 MB/s, positioning the drives for everyday tasks such as moving documents, archiving photos, or carrying media libraries. The specifications make them less suitable for sustained, performance-heavy work like editing high-resolution video directly from the drive. On the software side, the CZB Series is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and macOS Monterey or later. An optional SanDisk application provides backup and file management tools for users who prefer guided file transfers on supported systems.
Pricing and global rollout
The SanDisk CZB Series is available now in three capacities in the US market:
- 64 GB for $20
- 128 GB for $25
- 256 GB for $43
Every variant includes a three-year limited warranty. SanDisk has confirmed plans to bring the drives to additional regions, including Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific markets, though the company has not yet published a detailed schedule for individual countries.
