Design and naming of Samsung’s next foldables surface via certification listings
Samsung’s summer hardware refresh is drawing closer, with expectations pointing to an Unpacked launch in London on July 22. The company has not yet officially confirmed the date or the devices, but a steady flow of third-party leaks is filling in many of the blanks left by last year’s Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7.
Case images and promotional material appear online
Recent days have brought hands-on pictures of official-looking cases, and promotional renders published by Android Headlines that appear to originate from another unofficial source. Taken together, the materials point to a lineup shift that would replace the Galaxy Z Fold7 with a new top-tier model, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Alongside it, a standard Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to arrive as Samsung’s so-called “Wide Fold,” complementing the clamshell-style Galaxy Z Flip8.
Wireless Power Consortium entries confirm three models
Further details have now emerged through the Wireless Power Consortium’s certification database. Listings for three unannounced Samsung devices display outlines and naming that match the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The filings effectively lock in the updated naming scheme and the physical profiles of all three foldables well ahead of any official announcement.
The certifications also reveal a notable omission: none of the three devices carry built-in magnetic alignment hardware for native Qi2 wireless charging. Samsung instead intends to deliver full Qi2 functionality through dedicated external cases, some of which have already been pictured in the same database. This mirrors a broader industry split on Qi2 implementation, where some manufacturers embed the magnets in the phone and others rely on accessory-based solutions.
