Samsung has officially taken the wraps off its Galaxy Glasses, a new wearable developed in partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Announced during an Unpacked event in London, the device is built on the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform and relies on Google Gemini as its core artificial intelligence engine. The glasses pair exclusively with Samsung Galaxy smartphones and run the Android XR operating system.

An AI companion without a display

Rather than projecting information onto lenses, the Galaxy Glasses deliver assistance entirely through audio feedback and a discreetly integrated camera. The camera captures the wearer’s surroundings and feeds that visual context directly to Gemini, enabling a suite of hands-free functions. These include real-time language translation, turn-by-turn navigation, message summarization, and the ability to stream what the user sees straight into Samsung Notes — capturing a whiteboard session or a presentation, for instance. While on a call, wearers can also share a live point-of-view feed from the camera without needing to hold a phone.

Basic interaction happens through touch-sensitive controls on the frame. Gesture-based commands are supported as well, though they require a paired Galaxy Watch 9 to function. Samsung rates the battery life at up to nine hours of continuous use, and the bundled charging case holds up to seven additional full charges.

Two frame designs for different tastes

Samsung is introducing two distinct styles at launch. The Gentle Monster edition adopts a slim black frame with a straight upper edge and a softly rounded lower contour. For a more classic look, the Warby Parker version features a tortoise-brown finish with a subtle arched browline, positioning it as the more conventional option for everyday wear.

Market launch and pricing

Availability will initially be limited to select markets, and Samsung has not yet disclosed retail pricing. This cautious rollout reflects an increasingly competitive landscape, where major brands are racing to define the category of AI-first smart glasses without displays.
