As Citizen deepens its Marvel partnership, the brand is set to introduce one of its most visually ambitious character watches to date. The new AW1437-61W Spider-Man Eco-Drive timepiece combines a vivid comic-book aesthetic with an unexpected luminous transformation.

A dual-identity dial

Housed in a 43 mm black ion-plated stainless steel case with a mineral crystal, the watch is built around the light-powered J810 Eco-Drive caliber and offers 100 meters of water resistance. In daylight, the dial presents Spider-Man swinging through a brightly illustrated city skyline, rendered in full comic book color. When the lights go out, the scene dramatically shifts: the background darkens to near-black while Spider-Man’s silhouette glows in green outline, creating a striking night-time display.

Packaging and heritage details

The limited-edition piece ships in Marvel-branded packaging and includes a matching Spider-Man pin that reproduces the dial artwork. On the caseback, the word “THWIP” — the classic comic-book onomatopoeia for web-slinging — is engraved alongside the standard Marvel copyright mark.

Citizen’s Marvel partnership launched at Baselworld in 2018 with an initial collection of eight watches featuring Black Panther, Spider-Man, Captain America, and the Hulk. In the years since, Spider-Man has become the most frequently revisited character across the lineup, appearing in styles ranging from vintage comic-panel designs to bold red-and-blue colorways. The AW1437-61W marks a departure from those earlier efforts: its dial illustration is closer to a modern comic book cover than anything the brand has previously produced for the character, and the lume-based reveal adds a playful secondary identity.

Availability and market context

The AW1437-61W is slated for a Fall 2026 launch. Pricing has not yet been confirmed by Citizen UK, and the model is not currently visible on the brand’s website. However, comparable Marvel Eco-Drive models typically sell in the $250 to $350 range, which provides a realistic benchmark for prospective buyers. The broader themed-watch segment has remained active, with Citizen continuing to balance pop-culture appeal and solar-powered practicality across its licensed collections.
