Casio has formally launched the PRJ-01 series in Japan, marking the first entirely analog offering in the brand’s outdoor-focused Pro Trek family. Three distinct configurations are now available for preorder through the official Japanese Casio store, confirming a design that had appeared in preliminary leaks earlier in June.

A deliberate shift toward analog simplicity

The PRJ-01 represents a significant strategic departure for a product line long associated with digital modules, multi-function sensors, and connected capabilities. Instead, the series adopts a pared-back analog face with broad hour and minute hands and a slender seconds hand. The redesign explicitly favors instant readability and a traditional watch silhouette over the feature density that has defined Pro Trek for decades.

Core outdoor functionality preserved

Despite the minimalist display, Casio has retained several practical technologies. All three models incorporate Tough Solar charging, a low-battery warning, a basic calendar function, and 100 meters of water resistance. The cases are constructed entirely from resin and are presented in black, white with light grey accents, and dark grey. Each colorway receives its own accent detail: yellow on the black edition, orange on the grey-and-white model, and teal on the darker grey variant.

Strap options and versatile wear

Model differentiation centers on the strap system. The entry-level PRJ-01-1JF is priced at ¥25,300 (approximately $156) and comes fitted with a standard rubber strap. The two AE-grade variants—PRJ-01AE-7JR and PRJ-01AE-8JR—are listed at ¥31,350 (roughly $193) each and add a fabric strap equipped with a carabiner attachment. This allows the watch to be secured to a backpack or other outdoor equipment when not worn on the wrist. The quick-swap strap design also makes it easy to alternate between the rubber and fabric options.

Availability outside Japan has yet to be confirmed. A domestic release is firmly scheduled for July 2026, giving outdoor enthusiasts and analog watch fans a clearer timeline for the first screen-free chapter in Pro Trek history.
